  Jamie Lynn’s fiance plans to enlist in the National Guard

  Apparently Jamie Lynn Spears’ fiancé Casey Aldridge doesn’t want her to be the only one who brings home the bacon. Aldridge plans to contribute some pork of his own earning, by joining the National Guard. Right now the 19-year-old works as a day laborer. Probably not the kind of guy Jamie Lynn’s parents had in mind for her. But it appears Aldridge isn’t content to live off of Jamie Lynn, despite all the speculation to the contrary. So he’s decided to join up, even though one third of Mississippi’s National Guard gets deployed to Iraq.

  Casey Aldridge wants to be all that he can be - by joining the Army National Guard after Jamie Lynn Spears delivers their baby, sources say. The strapping 19-year-old day laborer has met with an Army recruiter several times, but he’s terrified to tell his 17-year-old fiancée, insiders tell the Enquirer.

  “Casey wants to enlist in the National Guard after the baby is born. But he’s kept his plans secret from Jamie Lynn - and there’s no doubt she’s going to blow sky-high when she finds out,” a close source said.

  “Joining the military has been a dream of Casey’s since long before Jamie Lynn came into the picture.” With “Zoey 101″ star Jamie Lynn’s acting career up in the air, Casey thinks the National Guard is a good career choice, according to insiders.

  “Joining the National Guard appeals to Casey’s sense of adventure and patriotism,” said the close source.

  A couple of thoughts here. First, if you’re terrified of telling your fiancée, you’re probably not ready to get married. And if you’re terrified of a 17-year-old girl, you’re probably not going to make the greatest soldier. Lastly, if you’re terrified to tell aforementioned 17-year-old pregnant fiancée because she’s “going to blow sky-high,” waiting until she finds out from the National Enquirer is a great way to get yourself locked out of the house and all your clothes set on fire. At least that’s the route I’d be going.

  I try really hard not to be one of those people that’s always bemoaning the lack of justice and fairness in the world, at least when it comes to material, trivial things. But this is just beyond all of my restraint. According to a report that came out yesterday, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have made over $3 million in the last two years. Yep, all those posed “candid” shots of them going for carriage rides in Central Park and being all lovely dovey in matching outfits at baseball games actually were worth something. A lot of it, in fact.

  MTV’s “The Hills” Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are one the most photo and press-friendly couples on tv, and they know how to cash in on it.

  Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag may be one of the most controversial couples on television — but they’re laughing all the way to the bank. Since coupling up on The Hills two years ago, the pair have raked in about $3 million from their TV salaries, club appearances, photo shoots and business deals. “We are trying to entertain in every aspect of our lives,” Heidi says. “Reality stars are grasping for their 15 minutes of fame,” notes David Scott Sloan, a private wealth services lawyer who doesn’t work with them. “And it looks like Heidi and Spencer are trying to make the most of their chance.” For Heidi, 21, that means also pursuing a music and acting career. “I plan to win an Oscar,” she says. “I’m very ambitious.” Although the couple haven’t made any money off her singing yet, Spencer, 24, who is also Heidi’s manager, is very optimistic about their financial future. “My hustle is just too crazy,” he says. “I’m trying to take over the world!”

  How badly did you just want to throw up? It’s that sort of deluded self confidence that leads to people like David Blaine and every reality “star” on the planet. And you know what, I could deal with that. I mean Heidi and Spencer are morons, and totally clueless to the fact that everyone hates them. But now I understand why they’re clueless – the pair are making bank. If I had raked in $3 million in two years and people sometimes mentioned I was really disliked, I’d hand them my bank statement and be like, “What were you saying?”

  Now I totally understand why Heidi and Spencer don’t get how hated they are. And even if they do - and are just playing naive – clearly they’re doing a pretty good job at playing the game. This makes me want to punch Spencer Pratt in the ear even harder than before.

  50 Cent gave Val Kilmer a $100,000 car

  50 Cent and I clearly have a different definition of friendship. And I think I like his a hell of a lot more than mine. While I always thought it meant being there for the other person in good times and bad, occasionally drinking too much with them, complaining about men together, and having the occasional naked pillow fight, 50’s idea of friendship involves lavish vintage gifts. And I think that makes a hell of a lot more sense.

  50 Cent knows how to treat his costars. Not content to drop off a basket of sugar-free muffins with a note saying “You were totally in the moment,” the rapper-thespian gave his Streets of Fire costar Val Kilmer a car, according to In Touch Weekly.

  And not some tax-write-off clunker, either.

  Fiddy bestowed on Kilmer a 1965 Chevy Impala said to be worth $100,000. The two, who play police officers dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, bonded over their appreciation of classic vehicles, which led the rapper to give one of his very own autos to Kilmer.

  Really? “Yes he did,” Fiddy’s rep told us. No word on Kilmer’s thank-you plans, but you can be sure of this: Muffins just ain’t gonna cut it.

  Sounds like the start of a bromance to me. And what a way to kick it off. At first I thought 50 might have some kind of non-sexual crush on Val Kilmer, a la that famous Seinfeld episode. But then I saw a picture of Val Kilmer, and… I have a policy of never making fun of someone’s weight. But let’s just say that if there were ever a time I would consider breaking that rule, it’d be right now. So I’m pretty sure there’s no crush going on here. But I think that explains E!’s joke about the sugar free muffins.

  Either way, I think it’s very important that I star in a film with 50 Cent. I’d just like a Honda, thanks.

  34 year-old porn star Maxi Mounds was declared the record holder for the newly created “largest augmented breasts” category by the Guinness Book of World Records. Ms. Mounds first asked Guinness in 2003 if they would consider adding the category as she would be a “natural” front-runner. They informed her this year that the category was created and that she would be the winner based on her measurements, which are 60.5 inches when her chest is measured across the nipples.

  Ms. Mounds’ breasts were created using a procedure that was banned in the EU and America in 2001. She had propylene string implanted in her breasts, which results in bodily fluids being released as the string irritates the tissue. The breasts can grow to such cartoonish sizes because the fluids keep building up.

  Mounds started out as a lap dancer in the 1990s. She said she first had silicone, then saline implants, and finally the string implants, which she had in 2000. Eight years later and it looks like she must have severe health problems and a sore back. Her breasts now weight 20 pounds each and she wears a size 36MMM bra. I thought that Christina Aguilera’s breasts looked painful and sore. This is just outrageous.

  Nick Hogan transfered out of solitary

  It’s a big day in Nick Hogan’s universe - all of his wildest dreams are coming true! Actually, I’m guessing it’s a pretty big day for most of the inmates at Pinellas County Jail. That’s right, young Nick’s wish of being released into the general population has finally been granted. Nick was being held essentially in solitary confinement because at the young, vulnerable age of 17, he was the only minor in the otherwise adult population.

  Hogan is also a minor celebrity in real life, which translates to major booty in jail life. You’d think if the guy had two brain cells to rub together, he’d want to stay in solitary for that exact reason. But apparently Nick’s conviction that he’s special and different and protected from everyone else makes him believe what happens to other famous young jailbird men won’t happen to him. Good luck.

  Nick Hogan’s got himself some company. Two days after a judge denied his request to be transferred out of solitary confinement, Hulk Hogan’s son, who’s serving time for a DUI crash that seriously injured his friend, was moved into a communal cell after a routine assessment of the ever-in-flux jail population, according to a spokeswoman for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

  Hogan, whose real last name is Bollea, was cooling his heels in an isolated maximum-security cell because, at 17 years of age, he was considered too young to live among the jail’s general population.

  Attorney Kevin Hayslett argued in a motion filed Friday that his client was undergoing “cruel and unusual punishment” that didn’t fit the crime by being housed in those conditions. He requested Hogan either be granted house arrest until his 18th birthday or at least moved out of the concrete block he’d been calling home to be with other nonviolent inmates.

  A judge refused a transfer but, according to the jail rep, a spot for Hogan opened up following a review of current housing assignments. The teen is now sharing space with three other juvenile offenders.

  Something tells me getting locked in a tight space with three other dudes was not what Nick was hoping for when he had his lawyer make that request.

  Nick will become an adult in jail, celebrating the big 18 on July 27. He’ll probably get some new adult roommates at that point. What a fun treat for him. Nothing says “Happy Birthday” like the fear of taking a shower or falling asleep.

  New Kids on the Block finish filming their first video

  The New Kids on the Block just finished filming the video for their first new single in a billion years, Summertime . Msat wasn’t a big fan of their live performance on the Today Show three weeks ago, and I have to agree that they sounded pretty damn spotty live. Supposedly it takes a pretty in shape and athletic performer to be able to sing well and dance at the same time. I can’t claim to do either of those things well, so I have no clue, but I’m guessing that being out of the game for so long impacted their performance a bit.

  Nonetheless, they seem alright in the studio. Summertime is a pretty generic pop song. I was a pretty big fan of the NKOTB back in second grade, so I’m biased and totally rooting for them. That said, I think the single is just too damn boring – I could attribute it to any nameless boy band out there. But it’ll probably get some attention just for the novelty factor. People has a “behind the scenes” look at the filming of the video.

  What music video is complete without bikini-clad women dancing? In the final chapter of New Kids on the Block’s backstage video – seen on PEOPLE.com exclusively thanks to Interscope Records – the reunited boy band gets dressed up to get down on the tiki-club set in Malibu before working their dance and doo-wop skills in front of a green screen. Once the director wraps filming, Donnie tells the camera: “What started off as a goofy little concept on the BlackBerry at 2 in the morning might turn out to be a video after all!” You be the judge.   I think the New Kids would have been wiser to do a song that – while still pop – courts their old fans. Something aimed at the mid-twenties-to-early-thirties set. Summertime sounds like the same generic crap I hear aimed at 15-year-olds. Maybe I’m totally wrong, but I don’t get the feeling today’s high schoolers are into the New Kids. Sad as it is. The video looks fairly cheesy to me – but I still love them. I need to go dig out my old Jordan Knight pillowcases. Even though I totally have a thing for Donnie Wahlberg now.

  Ryan Philippe Goes Public with Abbie Cornish

  Reese Witherspoon moved on with the hot and hairy Jake Gyllenhaal long ago. Now, Ryan Phillippe is coming out of the straight closet with his new lady love.

  “After months of speculation about their relationship, he proudly accompanied his Stop-Loss costar Abbie Cornish to the 2008 Australian in Film Breakthrough Awards – their first major event as a couple.”

  Abbie Cornish was “the other woman” that has been rumored to be at the center of the downfall of power couple Ryan and Reese. Sources saw the two kissing and sharing intimate moments at a Japanese restaurant while Philippe was still married to Witherspoon. Divorce followed and soon after denial and defense was Ryan’s strategy when it came to interviews.

  Photos of the two kissing and sharing a cigarette spoke volumes to the contrary. Cornish is already rumored to be pregnant with Ryan’s love child. She failed to show up to several premieres and the only recent photo shows her sitting down in some hideous black jacket. Perhaps this is the reason for their first public outing.

  Now Ryan and Abbie have made their debut. Fellow guests described them as “adorable” and stated that he had his arm around her and appeared “cozy” and “comfortable.” He also let her enjoy the bulk of the attention. While she worked the room, Ryan stood back and took his usual position as supporting actor.

  Gee, it is not like we didn’t know that he was shoplifting some Cornish this entire time. No matter, I still say that it is completely unfair that Reese has gotten to nail two of the men on my “Celebs I Want to Make Sweet, Sweet Love To” list.

  Lindsay Lohan was almost unable to get insurance for new film

  Most insurance agencies refused to cover Lindsay Lohan’s new film, Labor Pains, due to the actress’ bad reputation and history of multiple DUI and rehab stays. It was only after the producer, Rick Schwartz, vehemently vouched for her that he was able to find a company that was willing to back him. Producers swear that Lohan has been nothing but professional during their meetings the past few months and that she’s always been early and is “rehearsing every day with energy and focus”:

  “Labor Pains” producer Rick Schwartz kept getting turned down by insurers, an informed source tells us.

  “[Schwartz] could only find one insurance company to cover her, and even then he really had to vouch for her.”

  As Carrie Fisher wrote in “Postcards From the Edge,” actors with a history of drug and alcohol abuse, to which Lohan has admitted, have difficulty getting film insurance. Lohan is still on probation for two DUI arrests last year…

  The movie will be made whether or not there’s an actors strike, since the union gave Schwartz a waiver, Variety reported.

  “Lindsay is a tremendously talented actress,” said Plum Pictures’ Celine Rattray, who’s co-producing the film. “We have spent a lot of time with her over the last three months, and she has really impressed us with her work ethic.

  “She comes to every meeting 15 minutes early, to the point where she has shown up a few times before we were ready for her. She is rehearsing every day with energy and focus. She is lovely to her co-stars and the crew.

  “We got her insured in the film, and our insurance and bond reps have also been impressed with her good behavior.”

  Labor Pains stars Lohan as a woman who fakes a pregnancy in order to save her job. The NY Daily News says that the script “is hilarious,” and that it could be “just the sort of romantic comedy that could turn [Lindsay’s] career around.”

  Lindsay may seem to have mellowed out for now, but the minute she has trouble in her relationship with Sam she’s going to hit the skids. Maybe she’ll prove everyone wrong and pull some big career comeback out of her skinny ass, but the odds are stacked against her. That’s why virtually every insurance company turned down her movie. The insurance company they ended up with is probably full of old dudes who don’t have wives, daughters or sons who pay attention to celebrity gossip who could inform them that they were making a massive mistake. Even if she completes this film without a lot of drama, it’s not like she has the star power to draw an audience. All her films last year were flops.

  Lynda Carter finds dead body floating in river

  Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter, 56, was most likely in a rowboat on the Potamac River in Washington, DC on Wednesday when she called 911 to report a body floating in the river. Many outlets are reporting that Carter was canoeing, but it sounds like she was in a rowboat and is the person who called for emergency services, not the first person who spotted the body. Local ABC 7 News reports that a person in a canoe flagged down other boats, which called 911. It’s a little confusing, but since they say she was out of a rowing club and was rowing, it makes sense that she was in a rowboat, not a canoe:

  “Middle-aged woman was found floating in the water about a quarter mile north of three sisters island. She was found by a canoer. The canoer flagged down some boats and they called Fire and EMS,” said D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson Scott Kane.

  Sources told ABC 7 News, former television star, actress Lynda Carter, of ‘Wonder Woman” fame, called 911 after seeing Johnstone’s body floating north of the 3500 block of Water Street.

  Carter had been out on the water rowing when it happened, but left the private Potomac boat club abruptly without giving comment.

  The victim is identified as 47 year-old DC resident Helen Johnstone. It is thought that she was hiking and fell into the river. She had car keys in her pocket and was wearing a backpack with a raincoat in it. An autopsy is pending. Our thoughts go out to the family. That must have been a shock to find a body and you wonder if Carter is going to avoid rowing for a while.

  Britney Spears to shoot new music video

  Britney Spears is working on a new music video for her upcoming single, “Radar.” She will be filming in England next week, and the NY Post reports that the video will feature Britney and her friends looking for a guy she met at a club. Britney is co-directing and “wants to make sure it’s exactly right,” according to her manager, Larry Rudolph.

  Meanwhile Britney shot a cameo in the Pussycat Dolls video for the song “When I Grow Up” on Wednesday. She filmed a scene in which she’s driving a car and waving at the Dolls as they pass. The Dolls are singing in the car, which is a blue convertible Chevy Impala, and catch Britney’s eye. It’s described as a “very short sequence,” according to an insider quoted by US Weekly. Britney is said to have had “a lot of fun with it.”

  It’s nice to hear stories about Britney getting back to work instead of learning every detail of her personal life. There haven’t even been many paparazzi photos of her recently. Maybe this is the time for her comeback and it will be one that seems gradual and natural for her.

  John Mayer Is Too Nice to Guitar Hero Fans

  Driven by a misquoted Rolling Stone interview, false rumors have been circulating that John Mayer called fans of the wildly popular videogame, Guitar Hero, “Fake Wannabes.” While some websites are using the quote as attributed to Mayer, no such quote could be found in the interview.

  Here is how Mayer responded when asked about playing guitar hero:

  “I don’t ever want to be the kind of guy who rails against whatever progress has taken place. But Guitar Hero was devised to bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses without them having to put anything into it. And having done both, there’s nothing like really playing guitar. I mean, what would you rather drive, a Ferrari or one of those amusement-park cars on a track?”

  Clearly Mayer recognizes the fun in playing Guitar Hero, but is pointing out that the investment in practicing real guitar leads to a whole different experience. Guitar Hero is a game, playing guitar well is an art from. Mayer’s take here seems fair enough: don’t confuse a game that simulates an experience with the real thing.

  Mayer does not, like some websites are reporting, dis fans of the game by calling them posers or wannabees. But maybe he should have. While playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band can be a great party game, we all know a guy who has a few too many beers and monopolizes the TV for hours, convinced that tapping colored buttons on a plastic toy in time to a cartoon is his ticket to rock stardom. You know the guy we are talking about. And if he puts on a mask and coveralls to play Slipknot’s “Before I Forget,” Celebitchy recommends intense psychotherapy.

  Am I the only one who assumed that Vin Diesel was gay? You would think that if he had a steady girlfriend he would bring her to events and paparazzi target restaurants to make it known, but Diesel is a private person and prefers to stay out of the tabloids. Maybe that’s how those rumors that he’s of the other persuasion got started.

  Congratulations to Vin and Paloma, and their new arrival. People Magazine notes that Diesel is starring in and producing Fast and Furious, which will be out in June of next year, and that he also has Babylon AD coming out at the end of August.

  Shania Twain officially speaks out about her divorce

  While we’ve been fairly certain that it is Shania herself who has been leaking the details of her husband’s infidelity to the press, Shania Twain has released a letter to her fans on her official website addressing the break-up of her marriage, which makes for some interesting reading.

  To my beloved fans:

  As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time personally in my life. I wanted you all to know that I could not be getting through this without you. Your letters, emails and words of encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the beautiful blessings in my life.

  I have so much to say but I know the best way for me to speak is through my music. This is my therapy, my passion, and my love. I look forward to sharing it with all of you as I begin this new journey.

  I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be back and hopefully stronger than ever.

  Thank you my friends, from the bottom of my heart.

  What really sticks out to me is that she isn’t hiding her pain about the ending of her marriage at all. She describes herself as having a ‘broken heart’, alludes to her deep pain, and talks about her music being therapy. This is not the usual celebrity press release, where the star in question is ‘going through a difficult time but appreciates you support in this private matter’. This is a heartfelt letter to her fans.

  This emotionally open letter makes me think that Celebitchy was right when she said that Shania is the one leaking details of her break-up to People magazine. If my husband cheated on me with a friend, I would want revenge. I would drag those two lyin’ cheatin’ hearts through the mud in the press. Then I would put out an absolutely amazing album without my former husband/producer’s help.

  Which sounds exactly like what Shania plans to do.

  Kate Beckinsale is too good in bed to cook

  Kate Beckinsale has never been one to hold back from giving us too much information. Remember when she called her vagina the ‘Pharaoh’s Tomb’ and told us it was her best asset? Now she’s about to start embarrassing her daughter too.

  She said: “I am dreading the day Lily brings home a boy.

  “But she and the Beckham boys get on really well. So if she did have to have a boyfriend, then I suppose Brooklyn would get my seal of approval!”

  Kate and her family are friends with the Beckhams, so now Lily is going to have to put up with teasing from the boys. I suspect that if Brooklyn grows up to look like his dad, in the future Lily might want to date him.

  Kate also told reporters this interesting tidbit about her home life.

  She told Glamour magazine: “I’m the worst wife in the cooking department. I always thought you can’t be good at food and sex, but you can always order the food in.

  “I’d rather he didn’t order in the sex.”

  I’m pretty sure my husband would be pretty happy if I gave up cooking for sex. The kids might not like it though.

  Kate won Actress of the Year at the Glamour Awards party, where she looked fabulous as usual, although who noticed anyone next to Lily Allen? While Kate is a pretty good actress, I’m a little surprised that she won. She only had two films out in the last twelve months and neither of them were Oscar or box office material. Wouldn’t anyone else show up?

  Mel B says seeing her giant underwear ads is “weird”

  Mel B is currently appearing on billboards and posters across the U.K. as the face of Ultimo lingerie, and says she’s a little bit shocked by the whole thing. I always wondered what models thought when they saw their posters on the street.

  She told me: “It’s weird seeing massive posters of me in my underwear.

  “But it’s my body and I like it. This bra feels especially nice today.

  “It’s not like wearing underwear - I like walking around naked so it’s perfect for me.”

  Seeing your behind, enlarged beyond what any cheeseburger diet could achieve, while driving down the street on a poster would be more than a little disconcerting.

  As far as underwear that feels so comfortable that it feels like you aren’t wearing any, I think this is not a good idea for women who sometimes forget to put it on. Particularly those who might be getting photographed by the paparazzi. You know who I’m talking about.

  Mel and Joey Fartone are going to be the new hosts of American TV show ‘The Singing Office’, where they travel to offices across America looking for singing talent. This combined with her stint on Dancing with the Stars and her upcoming duet with Janet Jackson makes me think another Spice Girl is trying to cross the pond and have success in America.
