It’s really over: Aniston and Mayer call it quits

It looks like The Mirror broke this story accurately earlier today. Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are split, “multiple sources,” confirm to People Magazine. They typically don’t run rumors, so we can probably count this one as true:

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have called it quits, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.

“They had a great time together but they are just in different places in their lives right now,” says a source of Aniston, 39, and Mayer, 30, who kicked off their courtship in April.

A friend of Mayer adds that a reconciliation isn’t necessarily out of the question: “He never ends things with a clean slate. He likes to dwell on these relationships and sort everything out before saying goodbye for good.”

The split was first reported Wednesday by the U.K.’s Mirror, which said the couple split earlier this week, after initially deciding to spend some time apart.

Reps for Aniston and Mayer have declined to comment.

That’s what you get when you cry wolf, Mirror, people don’t believe you at first if you’ve run fake stories in the past.

Meanwhile US Weekly says they’re just taking a break or “cooling off” or whatever. I’ve heard that before and it usually means the relationship is doomed:

“It is really a cooling-off, not this big, dramatic breakup,” a mutual pal tells Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now.

“These are mature people who talk about things maturely,” the pal says. “It’s just slowed down.”

And though Us confirmed that Mayer’s Cabo hot-tub companion was merely a friend (the wife of a bandmate), a source tells Us that Aniston planned to go but “cancelled at the last minute,” opting to stay in L.A.

Since the 39-year-old actress and 30-year-old singer went public with their romance in April, she opened up to him about her desire for a baby, the pal tells Us.

“Who’s to say where it will end up, but now he has a lot going on,” the pal says.

Another source counters: “If she said she wants kids and he’s not ready, that’s not being needy. It’s being honest.”

It looks like Aniston’s dog was right.

Damn you, Aniston and Mayer, for making me invest in your relationship and actually feel let down that you’re breaking up. Don’t try and go back to each other and make it work, though. I’ve wasted a lot of years doing that and it’s just like picking at a wound. You’ll each find someone more suited to you and be a lot happier in the long run if you move on.

People didn’t expect these two to work, and that’s why I was hoping they would. Aniston is gorgeous and Mayer is well - rich and talented, and they’ll find other partners. We’re sure to hear about it too. Can you imagine if you and your ex were both famous? You could keep track of them for years without relying on whatever you can find out online. That would have it’s drawbacks too of course. In fact it would probably suck. Better to find out through Facebook after you’ve had a few cocktails than to have it staring at you from every grocery, drug and convenience store.

Did Ali Lohan get a boob job?

US Weekly has side by side comparison photos of Ali Lohan, and she looks to have grown boobs overnight. She’s possibly using those chicken cutlet inserts to enhance her natural assets, but the girl is 14 years old. If she did stuff her bra to achieve this look, it’s a much better alternative than surgery at her age, but neither is appropriate.

Ali denied a rumored nose job, and she’ll probably say she didn’t have anything done to her chest, either. Her sister Lindsay is widely believed to have had a boob job at 17, which she is though to have had reduced. Ali says she wants to be just like Lindsay and that she wants to be famous. Her mom, Dina, claims she’s just helping her daughter fulfill her dream to be a singer, that she’s not a “stage mother” and isn’t pushing her into show business.

You can see Dina allowing Ali to get a boob job at that age and claiming she’s just helping her daughter with her career. Girls’ bodies change a lot at 14 and it’s possible Ali just got curvier along with wearing a bra or inserts that add a cup size or two. I’m voting for chicken cutlet inserts because it would be too creepy if she had breast augmentation at 14. Wait for the Lohans to deny this in their gravelly hysterical-sounding voices and act like it’s everyone else’s problem that people are pointing out how age-inappropriate Ali looks.
Madonna and Guy resume trying to adopt a baby girl

After rumors floated around for the last few years that Madonna is trying to adopt another child, it appears that it could be coming true. The Sun – which has had a lot of Madonna exclusives that have turned out to be correct – claims that Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have resumed their attempts to adopt three-year-old Mercy James from Malawi.

Malawi has an incredibly challenging adoption process for foreigners, and according to The Sun that stress contributed to Madonna’s marital troubles, which is why she and Guy originally stopped working towards the adoption four months ago.

But officials yesterday confirmed the star has resumed her adoption bid — which pals say proves their marriage is back on track. Malawian adoption minister Penstone Kilembe said: “Madonna’s representatives have been visiting the girl. The adoption is now advanced — all the government is waiting for is Madonna to forward the petition of adoption formalities. Then Mercy will be able to leave the country for a new life.”

Pals of Madonna, who turns 50 on Saturday, say she is keen to have a sister for her adopted Malawian son David Banda, three — and feels her marriage is again strong enough to cope. A close family friend revealed: “The adoption process in Malawi is so long and stressful that all the legal wrangling put a huge strain on their marriage. They dropped proceedings to pour all their energies into each other. But Madonna now feels they are stable enough to press ahead with the adoption again.”

The friend said Madge “fell in love” with Mercy when they met at her orphanage last year. However, the girl’s gran Lucy Chekechiwa, 60, said she has been asked repeatedly by officials if Mercy could be adopted by an “unidentified foreign family” — but was firmly against it.

Speaking from her village in Zomba District, Lucy said: “… Twice I have told the adoption people that I do not want Mercy to go outside the country. But they keep on at us. Now they say that Mercy will be leaving us, but can return at age 18. Yet I might not be alive then.”

The Sun says that Madonna’s last attempt at adopting Mercy was halted when her uncle blocked their adoption application.

Nearly two years ago Madonna tried to adopt another Malawian girl named Jessica Kondanani. That didn’t end up happening, but Madge has basically “cut in line” in front of other people that were following all of Malawi’s strict adoption rules and were trying to give homes to kids she’s wanted. Mercy’s grandmother not wanting her to leave the country probably won’t be enough to stop Madonna. Though I really doubt her marriage is in such a solid state that she should be adding to her family.

Rachel Hunter engaged to hockey player 13 years younger than she is

Model and Celebrity Circus contestant Rachel Hunter, 38, has just gotten engaged. The ex-Mrs. Rod Stewart was proposed to by her boyfriend of two years, hockey player Jarret Stoll, 26. The pair have been together for two years.

Score one for the cougars. Nine years after her split from Rod Stewart—though just two years after the duo formally divorced—Rachel Hunter is ready to walk down the aisle once more, confirming her engagement to Canadian ice-hockey player Jarret Stoll.

Though no date has yet been set for the planned vow swap, the nuptial news was confirmed when the 38-year-old model and 26-year-old athlete toook their first joint trip to Hunter’s native New Zealand this week.

“We are all delighted for her,” Hunter’s longtime manager, fellow Kiwi Andy Hayden, told local station 3 News. While the couple opted not to share any details of the proposal, Stoll did say that the question-popping was “a romantic one.”

The duo was accompanied on the trip by one of Hunter’s children with Stewart, 14-year-old son Liam. Hunter, Stoll, Liam and 16-year-old daughter Renée, her other child by Stewart, all live together in Los Angeles. Hunter and Stoll have been together for roughly two years.

Aww. I did some internet sleuthing, but couldn’t find out any details on the proposal. Nothing will ever top Seal’s proposal to Heidi Klum. Rarely does a man outfit a custom igloo with a bed and rose petals. The best you can ask for is maybe a decent fire and a door that somehow closes. But if Stoll’s proposal was even half that romantic it was probably pretty good. Congrats to them both.

Jamie Lynn Spears’ fiance has cold feet, may be a cheater

The rumors surrounding teen mom Jamie Lynn Spears’ 19-year-old fiance and baby daddy, Casey Aldridge, are getting louder than ever. In Touch is reporting that Casey not only is having second thoughts about marrying Jamie Lynn because he feels “trapped,” but he’s also been fooling around with another woman for months.

But insiders say the teen parents of baby Maddie are having serious relationship trouble- and now Casey is anxious about the nuptials, which are scheduled for the end of the year. “Casey is not happy right now,” reveals a pal. “He feels trapped. He’s just miserable.”

The pal says that Casey, 19, feels like he’s being forced to marry Jamie Lynn, 17, because they have a child together.

“He was told it’s the right thing to do,” the pal explained. “But it’s not the life he pictured for himself.”

Oh, boo hoo. I’m sure this isn’t the life that Jamie Lynn, who was 16 at the time she got pregnant and enjoying a successful acting career, pictured for herself either. But she’s sucking it up and trying to make the best of it, unlike the panty waste who impregnated her. In Touch also has an exclusive interview with Kelli Dawson, Casey’s former girlfriend who claims that she was “hooking up” with Aldridge throughout Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy, until a few months before she delivered Maddie. Dawson claims that Jamie Lynn knew about the affair and was furious.

In an exclusive interview with In Touch, 28-year-old Kelli Dawson reveals that she and Casey, 19, were romantically involved — and were still sleeping together when Jamie Lynn, now 17, was six months pregnant with his child. No fleeting hookup, Casey and Kelli’s relationship was both real and lasting — and it grew in intensity, even as Jamie Lynn announced she was pregnant. And, Kelli says, they still meet up on a regular basis. “I see him all the time, at least once a week,” she shares.

The pair first met in November 2006, at the home of her sister, Kim Toller. At the time, Casey was already dating Jamie Lynn, but the sexual chemistry between Casey and Kelli was instant. “We were both really attracted to each other,” Kelli reveals. “He totally instigated it and pursued me. His friends would tell me that he liked me, that he thought I was pretty.” The couple saw each other a few times and “kissed randomly,” but it wasn’t really “hot and heavy,” Kelli admits, until the spring of 2007. If this story is true, it’s a far cry from the “perfect” life Jamie Lynn blathered on about in her interview with OK! Magazine in July. I knew that was a big fake just by how awkward Casey looked in those photos. However, this is “In Touch” we’re talking about here- they rarely get anything right. The cover of that issue features a photo of Casey tongue kissing some skanky-looking ho, but it’s impossible to know when that photo was taken- just like it’s very difficult to know if this girl is telling the truth. The article does feature a quote from Britney Spears’ first husband, Jason Alexander, but that guy would say anything to be in the tabloids again. All I can say is, if Jamie Lynn has even a whiff that this story is partially true, she should not marry this kid.
Peaches Geldof home after Vegas wedding; husband nowhere to be seen

Peaches Geldof, daughter of rocker/humanitarian Bob Geldof, made some waves last week when she married her boyfriend of four weeks in Las Vegas. The 19-year-old train wreck, who has been in the news for a drug overdose and other wild behavior, wed American musician Max Drummey of the band Chester French in a last-minute ceremony at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. Sources say she called her father to get his blessing two hours before the impromptu wedding. Now, Peaches is back home in the U.K. - without her husband.

Peaches Geldof was beginning married life in London today separated from the husband she has known for just four weeks.

The 19-year-old daughter of Bob Geldof flew back alone from her shock ‘quickie’ wedding in a Las Vegas chapel to Max Drummey, a little-known American musician.

The 15-minute ceremony last week had only one witness and Peaches is reported to have told her father only two hours beforehand.

There is mounting speculation the wedding was a stunt to promote Drummey’s band Chester French, who are about to release an album and are currently touring America.

The newlyweds released a statement through Peaches’ agent last night confirming they had wed and that their marriage had the full support of family and friends. But it was laced with references to Drummey’s music deals, prompting the suggestion the marriage was being used to enhance his career.

The statement said: ‘Peaches and Max Drummey are delighted to announce their marriage. The couple tied the knot in a simple low-key ceremony in Las Vegas last week.

‘Peaches first met Max two years ago. Max’s band, Chester French, played at the ITV iTunes festival, where Peaches was co-host.

The acclaimed Boston band were signed by Pharrell Williams to his label Star Trak. Their marriage has the support of family and friends’

Peaches has reportedly been a fan of Drummey and his band for a couple of years. But it is understood they began a romance after meeting last month at the iTunes Festival.

It sure does sound like a publicity stunt- or at the very least, a cry for attention, like Britney Spears’ quickie marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander after her breakup with Justin Timberlake. Between the drug use and this, I’m sure her dad’s blood pressure is through the roof right about now. But Peaches is 19 and legally an adult- she will be the one to deal with the consequences here. I predict this girl is heading for a major disaster.

In the numerous, insane interviews Denise has given over the last few months to promote her show, she has repeatedly said that she still cares about Sambora and that he is a great guy. I guess she was trying to grease the skids with him, hoping he’d want to get back together with her. But when Sambora entered rehab to quit booze, it looks like he quit his Denise addiction, too. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Richie’s habit flared up after being involved with this harpie- I can’t watch five seconds of her show without needing a stiff drink.

Scarlett Johansson has a new interview in UK’s Hello! and she comes across as pretty fun and down to earth. We’ve had some debate here over whether we have too high expectations for celebrities. [thanks czarina] It’s like we expect them to look gorgeous, act well, and give witty and intelligent interviews and are let down when they only score on two out of three counts. 23 year-old Johansson definitely gives a good interview, though, and I found myself smiling at some of her answers. She still thinks she can sing so we know she’s not perfect at least:

What do you think of this whole debate about sexy vs. beautiful? How do you see yourself?
“Beauty is something you recognize in someone. I mean, you put on an outfit or whatever and you think, ‘Hey, I feel sexy’. But I think that it’s rare that you feel beautiful. I never really look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘I look really beautiful.’ I look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘Yeah! I look hot.’

“When you’re looking at yourself you see all your flaws and you think of them as being unattractive. But when you look at someone else, it’s the flaws that make them so beautiful.”

Johansson lost me when she started talking about flaws making people beautiful, that seems a little contrived, but I agree with her that you don’t consider yourself beautiful. You can feel sexy if you look good though.

Scarlet expresses gratitude for her success and realizes that she’s had it really easy compared to some of her friends in the business.

Do you consider yourself lucky?
“Damn lucky. [Smiles.] I certainly know that I have a chance that’s one in a million and a job that’s sort of disposable, and I feel lucky that I haven’t been found out.

“I constantly recognise my incredible luck and am reminded of it every day when I talk to friends who said that they waited three hours for a casting call and they got to the door and it was shut in their face… I was in the right place at the right time.

Does your success overwhelm you at times?
“No. My head is screwed on pretty good and I just take it as it comes, I suppose.

“I think it depends on where you come from and what kind of family you come from.”

How do you cope with it and stay so down-to-earth?
“I don’t know. Thank you for saying I’m down-to-earth because you really don’t know me. I could be just a total prissy loser. [Laughs.] But, you know, I guess I don’t adjust. That’s probably why I stay the same. [Laughs.]

Do you think that acting is harder for a woman?
“Oh, definitely. I mean, that’s a given. Women kind of wilt as men sort of achieve as they get older, like wine or whatever. It’s like, ‘Oh, she’s past her prime and she can’t play a sex symbol’… It’s just a preconceived notion about women in general and particularly in this industry. It’s a very vain, vain industry.”

Scarlett also says she hasn’t “even thought about” her wedding to her fiance, Ryan Reynolds yet. There are rumors that these two are having trouble because they haven’t been seen out together much lately, but they were just photographed kissing earlier in the week. They’re probably just a very private couple.

As we mentioned, Scarlett may be cool as hell but she’s not without her flaws. Her first album, a set of Tom Waits covers called Anywhere I Lay My Head, had a lukewarm reception, with many critics saying she can’t really sing. She says she “would love to do another album” when asked about it. She also has praise for the people she worked with and that “it was fantastic to not only live with that music I love every day, but to work with such wonderful musicians.” Scarlett adds that she would “like to focus on something to direct” next and that she first got the urge while making The Horse Whisperer at the age of 13.

The world is wide open for Scarlett, but maybe she should just focus on acting and not put out another CD. If there’s anything that could burst her well-deserved bubble I would have to say it’s her voice.
Did John Mayer break it off with Jennifer Aniston?

Actress Jennifer Aniston, 39, and pop singer John Mayer, 30, have the tabloids working overtime to speculate on the state of their relationship. Are they fighting? Is Jen pressuring John for kids? Is Jen too clingy because she’s actually been seen hugging him in public? The latest report is from UK’s Mirror, which claims they’ve broken up. The Mirror is just about as reliable as Star Magazine, which means there’s like a 50/50 chance that the story is completely made up. The stories that aren’t made up are not necessarily true, they’re just based on more than a journalist’s imagination.

If you read between the lines on this story, it seems to be based on the fact that John is in Mexico with friends while Aniston stayed in LA. Maybe she couldn’t find anyone to watch her dogs for her or something. These two were just seen staying at a suite at the Four Seasons in LA over the weekend. Were they trying to get in some sex before their little break, or where they breaking up? (OK!’s article claiming they were at the Four Seasons together has been deleted, though, and there is no google cache of the story. Maybe there’s some truth to this rumor.)

Unlucky-in-love Jennifer Aniston has been dumped by her latest boyfriend, rock singer John Mayer.

The pair initially decided to spend some time apart… before making the break official earlier this week.

It is yet more heartache for the gorgeous Friends star, who has been unable to find love again since her divorce from Brad Pitt four years ago.

News of her splitting up with Gravity singer John comes just weeks after the couple were rumoured to be considering marriage.

“There’s been a bit of tension for some time,” says a source close to 30-year-old John. “They initially opted for a break, hoping a trial split might make them stronger. Sadly it doesn’t seem to have worked.

The NY Daily News adds a pinch of credence to this story. They say that Aniston “is already dating someone else in LA” and that Mayer had to use some special eye cream to reduce puffiness before a performance, perhaps because he was crying. My eyes get puffed up when I’m hung over, so maybe that was his problem. Preparation H really fixes that. There’s nothing gross about it if you reserve a tube just for your face.

It seems inevitable that these two would break it off before the end of the summer, but I was really hoping they would last. Maybe there can be a “happily ever after” for them - or at least a “happily into next year” and these stories are just rumors. I wanted to see them together for a while. Neither of them make my short list of favorite celebrities, but they kind of make sense as a couple to me. We’ll have to see what tomorrow brings and if this rumor is true.

After a high-profile three-month romance, Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong are no longer dating. What could have possibly gone wrong between these two photogenic athletic people? It depends on which tabloid you choose to believe. There may or may not have been a retired hockey player and/or a Black Crowe involved, and it’s generally agreed that Kate moved too fast and Lance is too self-absorbed. Hey, the guy dumped her at his own cancer fundraiser.

Here’s what the tabs have to say about the end of HudStrong.

In Touch: Kate Scared Lance Away!
According to In Touch, Kate smothered Lance by wanting a family with him.

She had planned to bring Lance with her to her annual family vacation in Muskoka, Canada. Last year, she brought then-boyfriend Dax Shepard, but this year, she had to go solo since Lance dumped her weeks before the trip.

“Lance had all of the qualities Kate wanted in a mate,” a pal says….But Kate’s desire to settle down put an end to their whirlwind romance. “Kate really wants another baby,” the pal explains. “She definitely let Lance know that.”

Lance, who already has three children with ex-wife Kristin Richard, wasn’t interested in starting another family.

Although Kate is reportedly desperate to get remarried, she was beginning to get “disenchanted with Lance’s self-absorbed attitude,” according to another friend.

In Touch also reports Lance has already moved on. A witness overheard Lance saying he’s single.

“He said it twice,” says the witness, “like he was trying to make a point.”

In Touch briefly mentions that while Kate was spotted in Muskoka with retired NHL superstar Eric Lindros, a friend says the two are not involved romantically and that “he’s a long-time family friend” and “his girlfriend was also there.”

Us: Why Kate Can’t Settle Down

Us takes the stance that Kate wasn’t as distraught as In Touch claims. Us paints Kate as more of a free-spirit, who falls in and out of love quickly.

If it seems sudden, you don’t know Hudson, says a pal: “She throws herself into these relationships quickly, then she’s just over it.”

On July 24, Lance and Kate ate salmon and beef tenderloin at Alana’s Food & Wine in Columbus, Ohio, where Lance was holding the kickoff to his LiveStrong cancer summit. Witnesses reported they seemed solid at dinner, but apparently they decided to end the relationship at that time. A source is quoted as saying “they just decided to end things. There’s no hatred, just sadness.”

Although neither’s rep would comment, the split didn’t surprise friends. One of Kate’s friends says they split because of “scheduling.” However, Kate’s clinginess did play a factor.

“She’s super-need y and must be the center of someone’s attention,” confides the pal. “They were having problems, and he ended it. I think she’s also still hung up on Owen.”

Us also disputes the Eric Lindros rumor, even claiming it was actually Eric’s younger brother Brett with Kate in Muskoka, and it still wasn’t romantic.

The NHL-er’s sister Robin tells Us they are confusing Eric with their brother Brett, whom Hudson dated premarriage. The exes did hang out at Muskoka’s Windermere Pub ‘n’ Patio July 25, says Robin, “but Brett’s had a girlfriend for three years. Brett and Kate are just friends.”

If she did hook up with either of the Lindros brothers, she moves fast — dinner with Lance in Ohio on July 24 and with Brett in Ontario on July 25.

Star: Kate’s Revenge Romance!

Star agrees that Kate is broken-hearted after her break-up with Lance, but claims her sightings with Eric Lindros and Chris Robinson were ploys to make Lance jealous and win him back.

According to Star, it was Kate’s clinginess that scared Lance off.

“Lance felt that Kate came on too strong, too fast,” an insider tells Star….”She started talking marriage and babies almost right away.” But her long-term plans were overwhelming for Lance, says the insider, and “he freaked out at the clinginess and bailed.”

Star claims Kate is fueling the rumors about a fling with Eric Lindros so that it gets back to Lance. Kate also made sure cameras captured her affectionate kiss with Chris Robinson in New York on July 31. Their source says her alleged scheme “won’t work… [Lance] already made it clear they are ‘100 percent done.’”

OK!: Kate’s Caught Kissing Her Ex!

If Star is right about Kate wanting coverage of her out with other men after the split, then OK! hands her the rumors on a silver platter. OK! claims Kate snuggled up to ex Chris Robinson only four days after her breakup with Lance.

“They were affectionate,” an eyewitness says of Kate and Chris. “They gave each other a kiss that lasted much longer than a platonic kiss should last — 20 seconds, maybe a little longer. It was more than ‘just friends.’”

The two are still friends, and share a child together, but OK! reports they have been hooking up regularly since last November, according to a friend of Kate’s. But don’t expect a full-blown reconciliation.

Truth vs. Fiction

So, here’s what we can all agree on: Lance and Kate broke up, Kate was in Muskoka, Ontario with one of the Lindros brothers (who have girlfriends, so they couldn’t possibly have hooked up with Kate, because athletes with girlfriends never ever cheat, right?), Kate met up with ex Chris Robinson later in New York, and I’ve devoted way too much time reading tabloid articles about this.

Kate is young and free-spirited, so if she’s having a good time, more power to her. Hopefully she’s not as desperate and manipulative as these tabloids claim, but she’s definitely naive if she thought she could rope Lance into marriage and babies.

But she’s not exactly care-free. She has a 4-year-old son, who must be confused about these intense relationships that fizzle so quickly. It’s good to see she’s on good terms with Chris Robinson, so that little Ryder has a stable father-figure in his life.

On a final note, this must be the most times the word “Muskoka” has been in the tabloids ever. Spellcheck suggests I change it to “muskrat.”

Dane Cook bitches about movie poster design for his film with Kate Hudson

Irresponsible dog owner Dane Cook can’t be bothered to pick up his dog’s poop after multiple, multiple warnings. He should be grateful he’s achieved his level of fame despite pretty accurate allegations of jacking other people’s jokes and not making them any funnier. True to form, Cook is complaining on his myspace about the movie poster for his upcoming film with Jason Biggs and Kate Hudson, My Best Friend’s Girl. He’s right, the poster looks slapped together by someone who just learned how to use the pen tool in Photoshop, but maybe he should talk to producers and not air his grievances online. Lesser mortals have been fired for blogging negatively about their jobs. I would guess he has producers’ blessings though and that someone slapped this thing together to give him something to “joke” about and get the film some advance buzz:

Before the downpour let me just say that my new movie, “My Best Friends Girl,” is the best / funniest film I’ve done yet. It’s got a terrific cast. Kate Hudson, Alec Baldwin, Jason Biggs, and myself really kicked the funny around. This movie showcases our talents accordingly as it expands on them. It’s a fun R-rated flick. An edgy comedy with a dash of romance.

That being said, let me address the fact that although I’m not a marketing major, I have a bit of a trusted reputation after 18 years self promoting. I’d like to inform you I had no say in this marketing campaign, but if I did, things would be different since it is obvious that this poster is boring / odd and has zero to do with the movie I performed in.

Here are a few things that truly blow about my upcoming movie poster to promote the release of the film opening on September 19th:

1. Graphics:
Whoever photoshopped our poster must have done so at taser point with
3 minutes to fulfill their hostage takers deranged obligations. They should have called Donnie Hoyle and had him give a tutorial using “You Suck at Photoshop” templates. This is so glossy it makes Entertainment Weekly look wooden.

2. My head:
The left side of my face seems to be melting off of my skull. I guess I am looking directly into the Ark of the Covenant? Are they going for the bells palsy thing here? My left side looks like Brittany Spears’ vagina.

3. The Stare.
My character apparently has fallen in love with a strand of Kate Hudsons hair. Kate’s mannequin is desperately in love with the inside of my right ear while Jason is half stunned, half corsage.

4. Lips:
It looks like I’m wearing Maybelline Water Shine Diamonds Liquid Lipstick. My characters name is now Winter Solstice and I’m a hooker with a heart of gold. Jason is my floral carrying pimp, while Kate is my first trick!

5. Fashion:
My character is sporting a very high collar I mean damn they should be snow capped at that altitude. It’s going for the vampire lurking in the castle basement vibe. An Olympic pole vaulter would have a tough go clearing that collar. I’m also able to turn my head comfortably 180 degrees, because I was raised in an abandoned barn by a family of owls.

6. Flesh:
It’s no secret that I’m more rugged facially due to a drunken visit by the teen acne fairy, but according to this poster I’ve got perfect porcelain flesh. I look like the fuckin’ bathroom floor at Caesars Palace. One of Marie Osmond’s dolls would look at me and say “shit … that guys got flawless skin!”

7. Hair:
It’s actually a close up shot of Tom Sellecks Magnum P.I. mustache they photo-slapped on my noggin’.

8. The set:
Pick one. This entire film takes place:

A. on Gattaca
B. at the Fortress of Solitude
C. inside a crystal wind chime

9. The cast:
Alec Baldwin is so fucking funny in this movie! Is he on the poster? I think so. He plays the wise talking plant Jason is clutching.

10. Final thoughts:
I set out to make a movie like the contemporary men and women, that you and I respect, are making. My generation of comedians, actors, directors and producers that I wish to collaborate with as I build a solid body of work.

Granted, one poster stinking up the joint isn’t the end of the world. Yet it sends the wrong message about our movie and I just wanted you to know, that I feel the pain. I really love the film and I know from past missteps marketing wise that the wrong poster sends the wrong audience into the theater.

Maybe he’s trying in his own back asswards way to promote the film. Cook knows complaining will generate controversy and coverage, and he tries to temper his bitching with plenty of compliments for the movie. It’s possible this whole thing is a publicity stunt and they deliberately put out this bad poster to give fodder to Cook. Maybe it was his idea in the first place. What makes the poster suspicious is that Cook’s face has been obviously altered while both Hudson and Biggs look relatively normal.

Here’s the trailer. It looks completely predictable and annoying - except for Alec Baldwin. That man is teh sex. You can mock me all you want, I’m not changing my mind.
Britney wants her kids to stay out of showbiz

Little details are emerging about Britney Spears’ first cogent, rational interview in two years. Britney sat down with OK! Magazine at her home to talk about the ups and downs in her life, but more importantly about how things are going now and her plans for the future. Her dad Jamie sat through the whole thing as well, and though he’s been very media shy (which is probably a good thing, and why he’s gotten a good deal of credibility in the press and with the court – no one has accused him of profiting off of Britney’s situation) he did talk a little bit about his new relationship with his daughter.

In what might be a revealing answer about her own childhood, Spears said that she doesn’t necessarily want her sons, Jayden and Preston, to pursue a career in the entertainment business. “I’d rather not,” Spears told OK!. “But but I’d love them unconditionally if they wanted to. I’d just as soon they have a more normal childhood.”

Spears’ father and conservator Jamie was also present for the interview. He’s proven to be press shy and reserved, but he took the opportunity to reveal the dynamic between Kevin Federline and the Spears family. He says that in terms of custody, “Kevin is all for everything. He wants her to have 50/50 custody. He wants them to raise these kids together. Kevin’s heart is right.”

Jamie Spears also reveals that his relationship with Britney has improved, but at the end of the day she’s still capable of being manipulative to get her way. “It’s wonderful. (The relationship) is new for both of us. She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot.”

I think from the phrasing that Jamie is saying Britney can still work her dad to get what she wants the way a lot of girls can. I don’t think he was implying that she was especially manipulative in any kind of psychologically deviant way. Considering how reserved he is, one would think that if that were the case he would have kept it to himself.

A lot of stars say they don’t want their kids to go into show business, but I’ve got to say that in Britney’s case that’s a big relief to hear. Since she’s made some less-than-well-thought-out choices in the past – especially regarding her parenting decisions – it’s good to hear that she won’t push her sons into the limelight. They’ll certainly have enough of it in the coming years. The rest of the interview will be published on Friday.

Olympic committee be warned: Diddy thinks he could win a gold medal in sex

Olympic mania really is sweeping Hollywood. I don’t generally follow sports, but even I can prioritize and find some time to stare at Michael Phelps. A New York Magazine reporter decided to chat up P Diddy about the Olympics, and made the mistake of asking him what he could win a gold medal in. And apparently it’s not running or rapping or business or anything else that he can certifiably back up. It’s something a little more subjective.

In honor of the Olympic Games, we asked Sean “Diddy” Combs about his favorite sports to watch last night at his spring-summer 2009 Sean John presentation. And faster than you can say “Michael Phelps just won gold again,” he answered, “Track and field!” He is a runner, after all. (Could anyone forget that groundbreaking New York–marathon MTV special?)

So what if there were a new Olympic sport, something he himself might have a chance of winning, we asked. What would that be? “Who could have sex the longest,” he told us in a soft voice and with a straight face, while looking into our eyes. Was that a pick-up line? We weren’t sure, but we tingled anyway. “I think that’s an event I can do well in. And probably who could stay up the longest.” Dirty!

“Just so you know, that’s supposed to be funny,” he added as an afterthought. “Even though I am serious.” But who would be his competitors? “Whoever’s up for the challenge.” You heard him, folks! Any sex athletes out there willing to challenge the Diddy?

What a classic, frightening, and intriguing response, all rolled into one. I’m sure Diddy has no problem finding many a lady up to the challenge. He probably found a couple that night. At first I was wondering, “How would they score that? Would it be like figure skating where some of it is the opinion of the judges?” And then I came up with a couple more concrete markers. But I’ll leave that alone and just let Diddy gloat.

Kanye West’s awesome new puppet music video

Just when I think I can write Kanye West off as a completely narcissistic jerk, he does something so awesome that it reminds me why he is so successful despite his massive ego: he is really, really good at what he does. He talks himself up more than anyone I can think of, but he can back it up, it’s that simple.

Kanye’s video for his latest single champion just came out, and it completely shocked me. Why? Because Kanye himself isn’t in it at all: instead it features an amazingly realistic Kanye puppet. Before you judge and think puppets aren’t cool, watch the video. Because this is easily the hippest, most musically-inclined puppet since Rowlf the Dog. The video is charming, funny, and all-around down to earth – which is sort of ironic since the lyrics are all about how awesome Kanye is.

That Kanye West. He’s always got something new to entertain us.

The video for “Champion” not only gives in to our current Olympic fever (Michael Phelps, yeah!) but also a deep-seated love for all things puppets developed over the course of a childhood filled with Sesame Street and The Muppet Show.

In fact, we believe there are not enough puppets at work in Hollywood, so we hope an endorsement from Kanye will change all that. Give the video a view and try to tell us Puppet Kanye isn’t the most adorable thing ever.

Isabel Lucas and Adrian Grenier split up

In a development that everyone saw coming, Isabel Lucas and Adrian Grenier have split up, following her 3am car crash with Shia LaBeouf.

The pair broke up about three weeks ago, right after the accident that left LaBeouf with a crushed hand. “It wasn’t working out,” says a source. “Adrian saw her with Shia and that was kind of it – the crash, their hanging out. He obviously didn’t appreciate it.”

Lucas, 22, was the passenger in LaBeouf’s car. She was treated for minor bumps and bruises at the hospital and released.

Lucas’s rep confirmed to People that the actress “is single.”

Adrian ‘didn’t appreciate’ his girlfriend hanging out with her co-star at 3am. That seems to be underplaying it a little. While she could have a reasonable explanation for the outing (“I needed a ride home and Shia’s known for being a responsible driver!”) it’s possibly the way the situation was handled that led to the break up. No ones likes to be confronted and challenged about their actions, and that could have led to arguments that ended the relationship, rather than any actual relationship between Isabel Lucas and Shia LaBeouf.

Of course, they could be shagging up a one handed storm right now.

Shia’s pinkie, that was supposedly at risk of amputation, is the only finger on his injured hand not bandaged. Clearly, it is still well attached in these pictures. Possibly it was going to be attached to replace another injured digit (yes, this does happen) but he seems to have a full set. This is great news, although I was slightly curious to see how a missing finger would affect his career. I think he could be excluded from roles because of it. Unless the role is as a pianist, I don’t really think it matters if he has only 9 digits.

Isaac Hayes died of a stroke; ‘Soul Men’ with Hayes & Bernie Mac could be delayed

Soul Men features Isaac Hayes, Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson
Isaac Hayes’ cause of death has been released, after he was found lying next to a treadmill. He died from a stroke.

The deep-voiced soul singer died on Sunday after he was found unconscious at his Memphis residence. No autopsy was performed, but paperwork filed by Hayes’ family physician, Dr. David Kraus, lists the cause of death as a stroke, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Shular said.

Deputies were among the emergency crews that responded, and sheriff’s department detectives were looking into the death. Kraus told investigators that he had been treating Hayes, 65, for high blood pressure, Shular said.

Family members found Hayes lying on the floor of his home beside a treadmill that was still switched on.

This makes me sad all over again, that he was obviously trying to improve his health by using a treadmill and seeing a doctor for blood pressure, and it was too late.

An idea I rather like, some websites are suggesting that Dimension are considering putting back the release of Soul Men, as the storyline deals with death and the film features both Isaac Hayes and Bernie Mac.

Warning: plot details, potential spoilers for Soul Men ahead

Death is a big subject in the film. The entire plot of the movie revolves around Mac and Jackson eulogizing the death of their friend with music, only now two members of the film’s actual cast really are dead. Three days ago it sounded like a fantastic idea for a film, especially in light of the way Sam Jackson belted out blues tunes in Black Snake Moan. Now, it seems almost too sad to watch. Buying a ticket to Soul Men could end up feeling like you’re purchasing a seat at someone’s funeral.

The movie doesn’t open until November 14th, so that does give the world a little time to grieve for its tragically departed stars. Still, don’t be surprised if Dimension Films decides to delay it a little more, maybe even until next year. November 14th may be too soon, particularly in light of the subject matter.

Cinema Blend

It is so great that the movie will be put back instead of any attempt to cash in on the death of the actors. Particularly in the case of Hayes who is playing himself. This is a very kind and human thing to do, since releasing the film right after the deaths of the actors could generate more ticket sales. Even if it isn’t good business.
