  Jessica Simpson embarrasses herself yet again

  I’ve decided that my Jessica Simpson tolerance has reached its absolute limit. I cannot understand how someone so stupid and senseless can actually function in our society – and yet she manages to do that – and get a lot of money for it too. Last night Simpson was mobbed at Madeo – not exactly where you go when you want a nice, quiet dinner. But that’s exactly what she did, and then proceeded to act like a moron.

  Was last night just slow for celeb shutterbugs, or is there a renewed interest in Jessica Simpson after she and Tony Romo were spotted ring shopping?

  Either way, the paps were out in full force when the Southern singer had dinner at Madeo with former assistant Cacee Cobb.

  The two lookalike blondes could barely make it through the swarm of snappers to their car.

  When she finally reached her ride, she yelled, “Take me back to Nashville!” to the crowd.

  Um…. No? May I speak for Nashville? Not only does this make no sense whatsoever, but it’s so freaking cheesy. I’m assuming Simpson was implying that the car should take her some place less crowded and paparazzi-filled (though that requires Simpson to be capable of something as subtle as an implication, which I don’t think she is). But that’s the only reason a celeb would go to a restaurant like that anyway, so don’t show up and then act like you were hoping for a quiet meal.

  Did stress of fertility treatments end Hef’s relationship with Holly?

  I can’t imagine what it must be like to want to have a child with Hugh Hefner. Let’s play naive for a minute and pretend that Holly Madison just wants to have a baby with Hef because she loves him sooooo much – let’s pretend it has nothing to do with money. I can’t imagine ever being able to look at him with those little expressions of adoration Holly manages to conjure up, and think how I want some mini-version of a legendary horn dog growing inside of me.

  That’s probably one of the many reasons no one believes Holly wanted to have Hefner’s baby just because she was so in love with him. But it appears they really did try – via fertility treatments – and that the stress of the process is why they’re actually breaking up.

  Holly Madison’s desire for a baby may be just what sparked the rumored troubles between Hugh Hefner and his #1 girlfriend. A source reveals exclusively to Scandalist that one of the main reasons Hef and Holly’s relationship began to deteriorate was their unsuccessful attempts to have children. “They tried many fertility treatments and couldn’t get pregnant,” the source reveals. “Holly really wanted to get married, but more than that, wanted a baby with Hef.” Earlier this year, Hef and Holly were reportedly spotted at the office of a Beverly Hills gynecologist who specializes in in-vitro fertilization. Following rumors of a split, Holly recently said, “I want to be with somebody who I can be married to, and have kids.”

  Hef admitted his relationships with Holly, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson, are “in transition,” and Kendra told Us Weekly, “There are lot of changes going on … people are going through changes.” According to Kendra, Hef is taking it all in stride by taking up with some new girlfriends. “He keeps it cool, and he has a lot of girlfriends around now to keep him happy,” she said.

  Whatever the reason, it’s clear they want different things. Sheer math tells us it’s unlikely that Hef will be around to see the kid graduate from high school. And Holly said she wants to get married – and while Hef has previously said he’d consider having a child with Holly (I think he phrased it something along the lines of “giving her what she wants in that department”) he’s never said anything indicating that he’s willing to marry her. It’s best that they break up sooner rather than later. There are few things worse than wasting good years on dead end relationships.

  Sharon Stone denies she wanted to Botox her son

  Sharon Stone is all sorts of crazy. I think that’s safely been established – long before the nutball was cited in legal documents as wanting her 8-year-old son Roan to get Botox injections in his feet to stop them for sweating. To Stone, this was the logical first step – before telling the kid to put on socks or trying a foot deodorant (which her ex-husband Phil Bronstein luckily did, and managed to solve the problem in a non-crazy way).

  Now Stone is denying that she ever even considered such a thing. Which makes it sound like she’s accusing the judge of lying – though she doesn’t bother to defend or explain a thing. Apparently just a “nope” is supposed to be a sufficient and all-encompassing rebuttal.

  “This week it was reported in connection with Sharon Stone’s custody dispute that she wanted to have her young 8 year-old son undergo Botox treatment at this time for his feet. Sharon Stone never made this statement. It is a complete fabrication,” her attorney Martin Singer tells Entertainment Tonight. “Sharon loves her son Roan and only wants the best for him.”

  The statement comes days after a San Francisco judge claimed in new Superior Court papers that the actress, 50, “delegates many of her parenting responsibilities to third parties” and has “simply refused” to participate in counseling unless her “schedule is accommodated and her demands are met.”

  “Such conduct on the part of any parent … is unacceptable and does not serve the child’s best interest,” said the judge, who added that she tends “to overreact” to many medical issues involving her son.

  The judge’s remarks were a tentative statement on Stone’s motion to modify custody. The judge has turned down Stone’s request to move her son Roan to Los Angeles, where she lives, from his father Phil Bronstein’s home in San Francisco. She is allowed visitation time with the child, including weekends and holidays.

  I don’t know, when it comes down to the word of a judge who was smart enough to keep Sharon Stone away from her kid, and a crazy, shockingly self-centered actress who was not smart enough to keep Sharon Stone away from her kid, I’m going to believe the judge. Several of our commentors pointed out that Stone is a member of Mensa. I’d think if she’s half as smart as she says she is, she should know better than to let herself be responsible for another living creature. I wouldn’t trust Sharon Stone with my houseplant. Though to be fair, I have tried to Botox those wrinkles out of its leaves.

  Kelly Ripa’s incredible morphing belly button

  I have to admit, I spend a lot of time thinking about Kelly Ripa’s belly button. To be frank, it haunts me. So I was really relieved to find out that someone over at the Huffington Post is clearly just as obsessed as I am. One of their writers has pointed out that Ripa’s navel has got quite the split personality. Sometimes it’s an innie, sometimes it’s an outtie, and other times it’s a halvsie. You can see how this would be haunting.

  And I guarantee you that after you see the photographic evidence, you’re probably going to become obsessed with the state of Ripa’s belly button too. Wondering if it’s poking out boldly or curled up inside itself like a scared turtle. So you’ve been warned.

  Kelly Ripa, 38 on Thursday and a mom of three, graces the November cover of Shape magazine in an orange bikini. Look familiar? She was also on the cover of Shape last May in a orangey-red bikini. In between, she broke up the Shape orange bikini covers with a gold bikini on the cover of Fitness. But, she only shared three top workout moves with the readers of Fitness, according to the cover. Shape reader got SIX the first time around.

  Also of note: across the covers, she has three different belly buttons. Ripa, an outspoken outtie who jokes about getting her belly button stuck in zippers on “Live with Regis and Kelly” had it airbrushed off completely for last year’s Shape, but this time they just softened it on the cover.   I’m pretty upset too. While I am personally an innie and do not fully understand the struggles an outtie must live with in an innie world, I respect anyone who embraces their body for what it is. But now Ripa’s just sending out mixed messages. “Ooooh, I’m belly button proud! Oh wait, no I’m not, photoshop that bastard down!” I mean pick a position and stick with it. I cannot even imagine how this kind of back and forth is going to mess with Ripa’s children. Scratch that. How it’s going to mess with America’s children.

  I really hope she makes some kind of formal, regretful statement and issues a sincere apology to the other outties. And then learns to love her flawed, flawed stomach.

  Is Britney moving back to New York City?

  Britney Spears has taken New York by storm over the last few days. Earlier this week Britney made a comment on radio station Z100 about wishing she still had an apartment in the city and missing the energy. That’s left a lot of people wondering: might Britney consider moving back?

  Britney Spears made an unexpected appearance at New York City-based radio station Z-100 this week. Her arrival at the station was entirely random: one rep for the station confirms that Z-100 received a call from the Spears camp saying she was just two blocks away and wanted to come in.

  “Of course we were happy to have her,” says the rep, who also confirmed that her entourage was limited to one person — her on-again, off-again manager Larry Rudolph. During the course of the radio interview, Spears said that she wished she still had her NYC apartment. “Man, I wish I still had my apartment here still. But I love (New York City). The energy is crazy,” said Spears.

  A source close to Spears says, “Britney always toys with the idea of going back (to New York). Obviously there’s no chance that’s happening unless Kevin (Federline, father of her sons) moves, too.”

  Spears’ arrival at Z-100 was without much of the fanfare that comes with something as simple as a Starbucks run for her when she’s in L.A., but that doesn’t mean her appearance was paparazzi-free. One paparazzo hit a lamppost near the radio station while trying to nab a shot of Spears. No one was injured.

  Britney’s made a pretty good impression while she’s been here. She went to see “In the Heights” on Broadway, and was ushered in without much fanfare right before the curtain rose – then taken out just as swiftly the moment the show ended. She posed for photos with the cast and chatted them up, and everyone had positive things to say about her. She also donated $10,000 to a Bronx school’s music program.

  It definitely seems like Britney’s trying to ingratiate herself to New York City. I think the paparazzi would follow her around just as much here as an L.A. There’s definitely fewer of them, but there’s also fewer celebs, and Brit would certainly be one of the biggest. So hopefully she wouldn’t consider a move in an attempt to find a slightly less media-filled life. Still, there’s a pretty different feel from L.A., so maybe a change would do her good.

  Kate Moss 18k gold statue complete with gold cameltoe on display

  Sculptor Marc Quinn revealed his solid gold statue of supermodel Kate moss, 34, at the British Museum today. It is featured as part of a special Statuephilia exhibit that runs from Saturday, October 4 until January 25 of next year and also includes works by Damien Hirst and Noble and Webster. The statue features Moss in a yoga pose with her legs behind her back. It’s doubtful that she’s able to contort herself so well in real life. The statue’s thong-clad crotch is tipped up as she grasps her legs and it somehow becomes just as captivating as the statue’s face, like they’re competing for your attention.

  The statue, called Siren, weighs 50kg, or 110lb, and cost £1.5 million pounds to make, or $2.67 million USD by today’s conversion rates. £1 million pounds of that cost was in gold. It is the largest gold statue created since ancient Egyptian times. Earlier reports had the sculpture made of solid gold, but that’s incorrect and it’s hollow, which is why it weighs about as much as 5′ 6″ Moss. It is thought to be worth up to £10 million pounds and will be auctioned off after it’s run at the British Museum ends next year.

  The artist calls Moss “the ideal beauty of the moment,” and says “The sculpture is really about whether we make images or they make us. It’s about trying to live up to impossible dreams and immortality.”

  Some of the British papers are cutting out the statue’s nether region, either by showing a sideview or just the top of the statue. You really don’t get an idea of what it looks like without that key part.

  Millionaire adventurer Steve Fossett’s plane discovered by hikers in California

  Over a year ago, millionaire/adventurer Steve Fossett, best known for his world record voyages around the world in hot air balloons, boats and glider planes, went missing after taking off in a small aircraft in Nevada. After months of searching, and even speculation that Fossett had faked his own death, it is now believed that he died in a plane crash after hikers stumbled upon the plane this morning in Medera County, California. While Fossett’s remains were not found at the crash site, a number of personal belongings and identification were.

  Authorities said Thursday morning that the wreckage initially spotted by aerial searchers is the plane piloted by missing adventurer Steve Fossett, not seen since he took off from an airstrip at an isolated ranch in the Nevada desert some 13 months ago.

  CNN announced Thursday’s confirmation. No human remains were found.

  “They did locate an aircraft which we have now confirmed is the one Steve Fossett was flying when it disappeared last Labor Day,” Madera County, Calif., Sheriff John Anderson said at a press conference.

  The news comes after hiker Preston Morrow said that on Monday he found three identification cards bearing Fossett’s name and $1,005 cash in a bush just west of the town of Mammoth Lakes.

  “It was just weird to find that much money in the backcountry, and the IDs,” said Morrow. “My immediate thought was it was a hiker or backpacker’s stuff, and a bear got to the stuff and took it away to look for food or whatever.”

  Morrow’s discovery made Fossett’s widow, Peggy Fossett, optimistic that closure was a possibility. In a statement Wednesday, she said. “I am grateful to all of those involved in this effort.”

  In 2002, Fossett became the first man to successfully fly solo around the world in a hot-air balloon. Fossett was close friends with fellow rich adventurer, billionaire Richard Branson. The two had a friendly competition for years over which one of them could pull off the most dangerous circumnavigation. Fossett’s wife had him declared legally dead back in February, but had hoped that she would someday find closure on her husband’s disappearance. It looks like she will finally get that closure: officials have fanned out from the crash site in hopes of finding Fossett’s remains.

  Sandra Bernhard dropped from women’s shelter event for Sarah Palin remarks

  Controversial comedian/actress Sandra Bernhard has been uninvited to a benefit show for a Boston area women’s shelter after her comments on Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Bernhard, who has never shied away from questionable language or comic material, was riffing on Palin’s conservative views on abortion and took things way too far.

  Sandra Bernhard’s recent cracks about Gov. Sarah Palin are no laughing matter, according to a Boston women’s shelter.

  Officials at Rosie’s Place cut the comedian as a headliner from an annual benefit after she joked that Palin would be “gang-raped by my big black brothers” if she ever visited New York City.

  Bernhard made the joke last month at a one-woman show in Washington shortly before the Republican vice presidential hopeful hit NYC to campaign. (She also criticized Palin for opposing abortion rights.)

  Rosie’s Place public relations director Leemarie Mosca said many women at the shelter have been victims of violence, and “we don’t think violence against women is a laughing matter.”

  Added Mosca, “Right now, our main focus is our event and making sure the event is a success,” Mosca told the AP. “And for us, that means not including Sandra Bernhard at this time.”

  On her Web site, Bernhard said the gang-rape joke was part of a larger piece from her show about “racism, freedom, women’s rights, and the extreme views of Gov. Sarah Palin - a woman who doesn’t believe that other women should have the right to choose.”

  Said the comedian: “I certainly wish Gov. Palin no harm - I’d just like her to explain to me how she can hold such outrageous views … and then go back to Alaska.”

  Bernhard has always been one of those extreme-style comedians and personally, I’ve never found her all that funny. It seems like her act has always been based on her ability to shock the audience, and that’s about it. No wonder she and Madonna were best buddies. While I’m not a fan of Palin’s conservative social views, I think Bernhard’s comment was out of line and not remotely funny - which is an even worse charge to a so-called comedian. Joking about gang rape probably isn’t such a smart move at a benefit for a women’s shelter, so it makes sense that the Boston organization wouldn’t want her there.

  Publishers are courting Tina Fey to write a book, offering her $5 million advance

  With the success of “30 Rock,” which she created and still co-writes, along with her spot-on Sarah Palin impersonation, Tina Fey is hotter than ever at the moment. In addition to film and movies, it looks like Fey’s self-deprecating wit is in demand with book publishers, too. She’s currently being pursued by a publishing house who has offered her a $5 million advance for her memoirs. But does Tina have time to be an author, with everything else she’s working on?

  But now that the “30 Rock” and former “Saturday Night Live” star is the doppelganger to Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, her celebrity status has turned white hot - and her book prospects are even hotter.

  With very little prodding, Richard Abate, who left ICM to head up the East Coast operation at rival talent agency Endeavor, has begun sounding out publishers on their interest and - surprise, surprise - the lit set is panting for the chance to publish Fey.

  One publisher out of the gate offered to pay a $5 million advance. Others jumped in, which, according to our sources, triggered a bidding war and sent the price tag to toward the $6 million range.

  Abate declined to comment.

  A source said that there is no proposal and that Fey, who has made two return appearances on SNL to satirize Palin, has been too busy to meet with publishers face to face.

  One source familiar with the talks said that her book is not being pitched as a memoir, but instead as nonfiction humor, more in the style of author, screenwriter and film director Nora Ephron.

  Since Fey started her career as a writer on Saturday Night Live, becoming an author is a natural extension of her abilities. But I wonder if she’s even interested, given her television and film opportunities. I’d love to read a book about her experiences as a female head writer at SNL, which was notoriously a men-only club for many years.

  Jamie Spears continues to oversee Britney, limits contact with Alli Sims

  Britney’s campaign of normalcy is continuing as she visits New York City. Her trip is seemingly two-fold: to promote her upcoming single and subsequent CD, scheduled to be released in December, and to prove to the public that her days of being strapped to a gurney are long gone. I can’t even remember the last time I saw Brit traipsing around half-dazed wearing her Brown Boots of Mental Illness. Much of the credit for her turnaround can be placed squarely on her no-nonsense father, Jamie. Apparently, Daddy Spears is still keeping a short leash on his older daughter and keeps close tabs on whom she’s contacting- including her cousin and former hanger-on, Alli Sims.

  Spears’ cousin and former assistant, Alli Sims, told Page Six she’s still not allowed to be in contact with the pop tart. “I have no idea when I’ll see her again. I miss her every day,” Sims said. Spears has been in the city at meetings for her fragrance line and plugging her new single, “Womanizer.” Although she looks cleaned up, the rules imposed by her father, Jamie Spears, still stand. “When [Britney’s] dad gained control, he put some rules down . . . it’s just best for her to not communicate with a lot of people. My main concern is her being OK,” said Sims, who’s in Nashville writing and recording music.

  Meanwhile, Britney stopped by a Bronx school to greet a gaggle of kids - a far cry from her last visit to the Big Apple, during which she partied into the wee hours of the night at local strip clubs and was even photographed backstage with male and female strippers.

  A few months ago, nobody would have trusted Britney around a group of children — but today she made a bunch of kids’ lives by showing up to their school in the Bronx.

  Though closed for the Jewish holiday, the school was granted special permission from the Board of Education to open up just for Brit so she could make a donation to their music program.

  It really does seem that Spears is putting the trauma of the last 18 months behind her. Does this mean that a bid for more custody of her two boys is close behind- or will Britney focus more in getting her career going for now?

  My husband and I waited three hours at the premiere of Burn After Reading at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin last night. At least the location has plenty of restaurants and I was able to get something to eat as we waited in vain. The crowd was disappointed that Pitt didn’t show. It’s well known that he’s in town and the buzz was all about him. We only saw German celebrities without a glimpse of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie or even Tilda Swinton - the only castmember who was expected to attend.

  There may be a perfectly good reason why Brad Pitt didn’t make it to the German premiere other than the fact that he has six kids to help care for across town, which is a valid enough excuse on its own. According to German reports, Brad, Angelina and the kids flew out of Berlin at 10pm on a private jet. The premiere was at 8 so they still could have made it, but some last minute packing was probably in order. People reports that they’re now in New York city and are expected to attend the premiere of Angelina’s film The Changeling at the NY Film Festival on Saturday. It will be her first red carpet appearance post-twins.

  Brad and Angelina have been adept at avoiding the paparazzi in Berlin. There’s a handful of photographers camped outside their estate, but the place is large and it’s hard to tell which of the blacked out vans leaving the compound is actually carrying them. This week the family was able to visit an indoor playarea and even go toy shopping without being photographed. Germans are not as celebrity-focused a culture in general as Americans. There are celebrity glossies here, but the attitude tends to be more subdued. That said, there would have been a lot of chanting and screams of excitement if Pitt had showed up at the premiere last night and the mood was expectant as people waited for him. We’ll have to catch our glimpse of Hollywood elite another time.

  Update: There is a video on TMZ of Brad and the kids arriving at the Waldorf Astoria in NY last night, so they would have had to leave much earlier in the day and not at 10pm as some sources reported. [Thanks Kata!]

  Jessica Alba dons Hannibal Lecter mask in new voting ad (somewhat disturbing)

  Jessica Alba has shown that she’s more than willing to become the poster girl for sadomasochism if it will somehow provoke people to vote. In her latest ad for Declare Yourself, it seems like all she’s doing is getting people to scratch their heads, though.

  Alba wears a mask that’s reminiscent of fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter’s famous facewear in Silence of The Lambs. There are nails running through the front of the flesh-colored muzzle, but fortunately they’re not under her skin - like the other ads featuring Christina Aguilera with her mouth sewed shut and a tear running down her face. The ads are captioned “only you can silence yourself.”

  
  Some photos, like the one of Aguilera above, were taken by famed celebrity photo artist Dave LaChappelle while the latest Alba ad is from Mark Liddell. I guess they’re trying to get attention to a worthy cause - and it’s working.

  There’s still time to register to vote in this year’s US Presidential election if you haven’t yet. Ironically, when I was viewing the Declare Yourself site it went down, probably because of all the people wanting to see poor Jessica Alba in that S&M fantasy pic. You can register to vote on either Declare Yourself or Rock The Vote. If you’re not registered yet you have time because the first deadlines for specific states start this weekend. Do it now or Alba gets it. (I didn’t come up with that, I read it somewhere else first.)

  Heather Locklear’s DUI tipster also runs a paparazzi agency

  The Heather Locklear DUI case just keeps getting more interesting. Locklear was arrested by cops on suspicion of DUI on Saturday. She was not driving at the time of the arrest, but was said to be acting erratically and her car was nearby.

  The person who called the cops on Heather is a former US Weekly staffer who is under investigation by the FBI for downloading celebrity contact information after she left the magazine. What’s more is that it’s just come out that the woman runs a paparazzi agency. Now the questions are whether Heather was really impaired or not, and if she was set up by the woman. Heather did pass the on-scene breathalyser, but cops say she seemed impaired. If she was under the influence of something it may not matter if this woman was following her, waiting to pounce. Here are reports that are coming out on both sides of this story.

  California Highway Patrol: Locklear had ‘obvious impairment’; witness’ vested interest has ‘no bearing on the case’
  TMZ has the police report from the CHP, which states Locklear was obviously impaired. They also talked to a police source who says that it’s not that important if the woman who called police did it for the photos and story. It’s about whether Heather was too impaired to drive or not.

  So far TMZ’s reports state that the woman who called the cops on Locklear, Jill Ishkanian, called a photographer immediately, although Ishkanian denies this. They made it seem like she just happened to know the person through her ties to US Weekly, because that’s what she told them. Ishkanian in fact owns a paparazzi agency, Sunset Photo & News, according to an Associated Press report. What’s more is that the sequence of photos put out by Ishkanian suggest that she was following Locklear well ahead of the time that she claims she just happened to run into her driving erratically. According to E! Online, Ishkanian was paid $27,000 by TMZ for the photos of Locklear’s arrest.

  Witness claims Locklear looked fine and not out of it at all
  E! Online has a witness who saw Locklear leaving a store right before the cops arrived. That person says that “She seemed to be acting normal, totally normal. She was just really messy, but not drunk.” They even include the guy’s name in the story, so it sounds like a legitimate report.

  The DA’s office says they’re waiting for the results of the toxicology report to see if they’re going to officially charge Locklear with DUI. The CHP’s “drug recognition expert” claimed that she did seem to be “under the influence of an unspecified drug.”

  This brings up all sorts of issues about paparazzi photographers trying to create the news instead of just document it. I’m reminded of something George Clooney said earlier this year about the paparazzi:

  “These people are being paid so much that they are willing to commit crimes, to break into your house, to cut you off in traffic, to run lights, to slam on the brakes in front of you, to get the money shot. It’s creating bounty hunters.”

  Ishkanian cashed in to the tune of $27,000 for reporting Locklear to the police. Whether Locklear needed to be reported or not is yet to be determined.

  People Magazine has more details of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds’ wedding on Canada’s Vancouver Island, and it sounds romantic. They picked the ecologically-conscious and exclusive Clayoquat Wilderness Resort, which specializes in weddings and honeymoons, to offer their guests plenty of outdoor activities along with a luxurious nature-themed setting. Guests stayed in well-appointed tents that look more like B&B rooms than roughing it, and include full baths, wood stoves, and plenty of candles to set the mood. The resort’s website says they specialize in medium sized weddings of up to 50 people. Scarlett and Ryan invited under 40 friends and family members, who enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, and likely took advantage of the spa services:

  Even the groom, 31, took advantage of the setting – fishing for salmon and halibut while other guests went horseback riding and mountain biking on the grounds of the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, a luxurious outpost of 20 canvas tents that caters to nature lovers.

  “Scarlett wanted a ceremony with just family and a few select friends,” says a source close to the 23-year-old bride. Less than 40 people attended the weddingt.

  Here are some photos of the resort where they stayed, from their website. It looks really nice, and I saw a similar high end tent resort on a special on the Travel Channel a few years ago. It makes me feel relaxed just looking at the pictures.

  Scarlett and Ryan are said to be planning another larger reception in order to accommodate more friends and family. Maybe we’ll see some pictures for that one.

  Singer Melissa Etheridge, 47, and her partner, Tammy Lynn Michaels, 33, held a large commitment ceremony attended by 175 guests in September, 2003, but were not permitted to marry legally under California law at that time. Their first ceremony was a traditional wedding complete with a proposal from Melissa, a custom-designed three carat diamond ring for Tammy, and a ceremony and reception on a location overlooking the Pacific. They wore Badgley Mischa outfits, with Tammy in a gown and Melissa in a cream linen and silk pantsuit. The reception tent was decorated with 2,000 candles, periwinkle hydrangeas and lavender roses. Guests include Tom Hanks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Al Gore. They described it as their dream wedding, and it’s clear they put a lot of thought and planning into it to make it an event they’ll always remember.

  Now that Melissa and Tammy are able to marry legally under California law, they say they’ll do it when they find time. After watching footage of their wedding, below, you can tell why they’re not in a hurry to make it technically “legal” - they already had a lavish wedding that meant a lot to each of them.

  Melissa and Tammy are raising four children together, Bailey, 11, and Beckett, 9, from Melissa’s relationship with Julie Cypher, and boy and girl twins Miller Steven and Johnnie Rose, who turn two in a couple of weeks. They have their hands full.

  Shannen Doherty calls Paris Hilton’s sex tape with her ex ‘disgusting’

  Shannen Doherty, 37, was married to porn purveyor Rick Salomon, 40, for just nine months in 2002. (She still lasted longer with him than Pamela Anderson, who filed for divorce 10 weeks after they were married late last year, took it back, then ultimately obtained an annulment five months later.)

  Doherty talked about her brief marriage to Salomon in an interview with Details Magazine. It sounds like they had a blast together, but once the initial euphoria was over their relationship crashed and burned. Salomon is the co-”star” and the person who filmed Paris Hilton’s sex tape, 1 Night In Paris. While he initially filed suit against the company that sold the tape, and against Paris’ family for sullying his name by claiming that he was behind its release, he eventually cashed in and sold the blue film through his own company and made millions.

  In a new interview with Details, Shannen Doherty admits, “I haven’t made the best choices in men.”

  (She famously married George Hamilton’s son, Ashley, in 1993 after two weeks of dating. They split seven months later.)

  But out of all of her past romances, Doherty says she has no regrets over Rick Salomon, who appeared in the infamous Paris Hilton sex tape.

  “There was something that Rick provided that was amazing to me,” the currently single star tells Details.

  Still, she adds, “I look at what he did [with Hilton] and think, ‘God, that’s disgusting.’”

  But during their 2002 marriage (which was later annulled), “I never had someone make me laugh so much. I was madly in love. It was a really hard marriage. When it ended, it was a heart-crushing thing.”

  As for her future on CW’s 90210, she says, “We all agreed we’d see how it goes.”

  She said she wouldn’t have done the show if her character Brenda “was stuck in the same spot.

  The last time we heard from Doherty about her stint on the new 90210 she said that she had another project and couldn’t commit to new episodes. There were rumors that she was dropped due to similar bad behavior on set that got her canned from the first series. Now she’s saying she’s allowed to stay on the show on a trial basis. I guess we know now that her excuse about the other series she was working on was bogus.

  Rosie O’Donnell gets hour long variety show

  Back in July, we reported a story that originated in EW’s Ausiello Files that Rosie O’Donnell was in talks with NBC for a primetime hour long variety show. At that time it sounded like it would be an ongoing show that aired weekly.

  Rosie has confirmed in a statement that she has an upcoming hour long variety show with NBC, but it’s just a holiday special at this point. Rosie’s show will air the night before Thanksgiving and will have celebrity guests, music numbers, comedy and a giveaway. She says her show is inspired by the great variety shows of decades past. If this is a hit for Rosie, it’s likely to become a weekly show on NBC:

  Nearly two months to the day since I brought you news of the Peacock-Ro talks, the polarizing funny lady has inked a deal with NBC to headline an hour-long variety show/backdoor pilot to air live in prime time on Thanksgiving eve, Nov. 26.

  Appropriately titled Rosie’s Variety Hour, the special will kick off with a topical monologue and feature celebrity guests, musical acts, comedy skits, and a “giant” giveaway for both the in-studio and home audiences.

  “This is a dream come true for any performer,” O’Donnell said in a statement. “Old time variety, live from New York with a nod to Ed Sullivan, Carol Burnett and memories of Sonny and Cher.”

  For now, Rosie’s Variety Hour is just a one-off special. But if this thing’s a hit — and, c’mon, how could it not be — you can bet it’ll become a regular fixture on NBC’s schedule.

  Rosie’s talk show ran for six years, from 1996 to 2002, and was a big hit. She was so much fun as the hostess and her enthusiasm when she met celebrities was contagious. It was only when she was on The View sparring with Elisabeth Hasselbeck that the shine came off and she started to seem abrasive and unwavering in her opinion. When Rosie is running the show, things usually remain upbeat. As long as she keeps it light and fun the show should be a success for her. She can occasionally insert politics if she wants, but it should be in the spirit of comedy because controversial topics go down a lot easier when you’re laughing. NBC will first see how well she does, and how the audience perceives her, before making a commitment for a longer running show. In Rosie’s case that seems like the best way to handle things.

  Bianca Golden: Nikki Blonsky kicked my mom in the crotch when she was down

  Nikki Blonsky and her father Eric were involved in an altercation with America’s Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden and her mother Elaine at Turks and Caicos airport in early August. It sounded serious at the time as Elaine was airlifted to an ICU in Miami, and Eric Blonsky was charged with grievous bodily harm. No details of the assault were released except that Elaine was treated for temporary paralysis of her left side. The attack was obviously quite vicious, and here are some details that Bianca Golden shares on The Tyra Banks Show. Bianca says Nikki even kicked her mother in the crotch when was laying on the ground after a blow to the face from Eric Blonsky.

  Golden says on the Oct. 8 episode of The Tyra Banks Show that her family was at the Turks & Caicos airport on July 29 returning from a family reunion for her dying grandfather when Nikki Blonksy became “very rude to my aunt.”

  An argument erupted between Blonsky’s and Golden’s families, then Blonsky’s father Carl “punched my mom.”

  “He knocked her out,” says Golden. “He hit my mom with such force she stumbled back and when she stumbled back the whole family got up and attacked my mom.”

  Then, when her mother was on the ground, Nikki “takes her foot and kicks my mom in her vagina, and that’s when my mom fell out completely,” says Golden.

  “When Nikki kicked my mom I went and grabbed her arm and she grabbed my earring,” says she. “Her mom sat on her to get her off of me cause her mom saw what was happening and that was that.”

  Golden says her mother was airlifted to the hospital with internal bleeding, a broken nose and a fractured skull.

  “Her face is still black and blue,” she says.

  This is only one person’s version of events, but I still can’t believe that anyone in their right mind would attack someone so violently when they don’t even know them. I know travelling can make people cranky, but who goes on holiday looking for a fight?

  I also don’t think much of going on The Tyra Banks Show to talk about it, unless the appearance was scheduled prior to the incident. When something is before the courts, on serious charges, are you actually allowed to talk about it to the media? Doesn’t it influence the jury? Nikki Blonsky’s reps refused to comment as this is a ‘pending legal issue’.

  A People report right after the incident says that Nikki was charged with assault with actual bodily harm, which carries a maximum sentence of two years, and common assault, also known as threat of assault, with a 90-day maximum term. Bianca Golden was also charged with assault with actual bodily harm.

  Her father Carl was charged with grevious bodily harm, which has a possible sentence of five years.

  Naomi Campbell blames 9/11 attacks for her plane arrest

  Naomi Campbell must be running out of excuses for her violent behaviour. ‘Having a bad day’ or ‘under the influence of prescription medication’ must have been taken, because she’s blaming terrorist attacks for her attack on a flight attendant. Naomi verbally abused crew on the flight, before being removed from the plane by police. Naomi spat at the police, but says the attack was provoked by a racial slur.

  And now Campbell, who had been a loyal BA customer until the fracas, insists she will never step on board another BA plane, claiming the 2001 terrorist attacks in America have changed air travel forever.

  She tells the Evening Standard, “I think after 9/11 you can’t say anything anymore on a plane. I’ve flown British Airways for years, since I was a child. The stewardesses will tell you that I would get on a plane, put on the blanket and go to sleep.

  “I’ll never fly that airline again, but nothing’s really lost. I did get my luggage. I was reunited with my (Yves Saint Laurent), and everything was cool.”

  I’d love to think Naomi was joking about everything being okay because she has her clothes, but I suspect she’s deadly serious.

  British Airways is probably breathing a sigh a relief at the fact that Naomi Campbell won’t be flying with them again, while other airlines wait nervously for her next trip.

  Naomi is currently serving 200 hours of community service at a homeless shelter in London. For her previous attack on a maid she served a week with a sanitation crew in New York, where she paraded the streets in couture and featured her community service diary in a W magazine cover story.
