  George Michael un-considered for BRITs lifetime achievement award

  George Michael was a favorite for next year’s lifetime achievement special award at British music awards show, the BRITs, but has been dropped from the shortlist after his latest scrape with the law. Michael’s September drug arrest was the latest in a string of offenses ranging from marijuana to engaging in lewd acts plaguing the singer over the last ten years.

  George Michael has been axed from next year’s Brit Awards, as reported by Mirror. “George was frontrunner to get the lifetime achievement award. But Brits bosses felt it would be better not to be associated with him for the time being since the Brits is a shop window for our music,” a source from the music industry says.

  In a further statement, the source explains that the two-time Grammy Awards winning musician was scrapped as the candidate of “Outstanding Contribution to Music” category after he had been arrested in Hampstead Heath area of north London with crack cocaine in September. Bosses from the prestigious event are said to be searching for another candidate to be honored.

  George Michael has had more than his share of embarrassing legal situations, but I fail to see how that diminishes his contribution to music. Not being a huge fan of the guy, I don’t think I’ve heard anything he’s released since “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”, a song that just writes it’s own jokes with Michael, but his work in the 80’s/early 90’s alone deserves the comendations.

  George seems to be dealing with alot of inner demons and only appears to be finding pretty harmful ways of exising them. Ten years of arrests, all for very public downfalls, screams self-loathing and confusion. He always sounds remorseful and it’s easy to believe him, that he’s sorry and won’t let it happen again, but he can’t seem to help himself. He apologized again after his most recent drug bust.

  Previously, the 45-year-old singer revealed his regret referring to the scandal. “I want to apologize to my fans for screwing up again and to promise them I’ll sort myself out. And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them,” he stated.

  Jessica Simpson not engaged; looks super frumpy in Dallas

  Is Jessica Simpson putting on weight again? Perhaps the engagement rumors just went to her head. Though Simpson adamantly swears that she and Tony Romo are not engaged, she seems to be proving that long-running joke true about women letting themselves go once they secure a man. Simpson looked shockingly ragged last week in Dallas. So much so you’d think she were a regular person instead of one of the most photographed celebs in the world.

  Simpson also confirmed to People that she is not in fact engaged to Tony Romo, but her football curse is stronger than ever. After breaking Tony’s finger yesterday… um I mean after Tony broke his finger during a Cowboy’s game yesterday, it was rumored (by me) that Jessica planned to sedate him using some painkillers and drag him down the aisle before he could run away. Until someone pointed out that fingers are on the hand, not the foot.

  Jessica Simpson says she could have never dragged her NFL star boyfriend Tony Romo shopping for engagement rings. The same can now be said for pinky rings.

  Romo, a quarterback for the Cowboys, busted the little finger on his right hand Sunday in an overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Romo, 28, who throws with his right hand, will be out for four weeks.

  The injury came as Simpson, 28, shot down rumors she checked out engagement rings with Romo.

  “We are not engaged!” she tells Entertainment Tonight. “Tony and I have not gone to Neiman Marcus – somebody said we bought a ring there. I couldn’t drag Tony in to Neiman Marcus if I tried.”

  Kenny Chesney writes a song about Renee Zellweger breakup

  Country singer Kenny Chesney, who quickly courted and wed actress Renee Zellweger only to have the relationship end in an annulment four months later, has kept pretty quiet about the whole affair - until now. Chesney has a new album to plug, and one of the songs on it is about the breakup.

  On his latest album Lucky Old Sun, Kenny Chesney writes about the end of his four-month marriage to Renee Zellweger.

  He tells Newsweek recovering from the split was “was horrible. It took a while. Years. It’s been since 2005.

  “I was probably as emotionally and mentally exhausted as I’d ever been,” he goes on. “And that was due to a lot of things — having the foot on the gas pedal constantly, and my breakup with Renee Zellweger.”

  So, he says, “I got in a plane and went down to the Virgin Islands. I was completely by myself.

  “I didn’t want to be around anybody,” Chesney continues. “So the next thing you know, it’s me and a pen, and I sat down and wrote a lot of lines of this song, ‘Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be.’”

  Asked if he was nervous writing about the Zellweger split, he tells Newsweek, “It’s the truth. It’s my life.

  “I’ve been in a lot of states of mind in the last three years,” he says. “In that way, it’s a pretty honest record. I’ve let myself be more emotionally vulnerable in some of the lyrics. I think that was good therapy.”

  He says he has “no idea” what the actress will think. “I don’t know. It’s unpredictable.”

  Chesney tells Newsweek they still talk “every now and then. I don’t want to say this whole record is about her.”

  Is he still heartbroken?

  “Not at all,” says the singer, who adds that he is dating again. “I already wrote those songs. I’m on to something else.”

  I think Renee is just not the marrying kind. If you recall, their entire relationship, beginning with their introduction during a telethon to benefit the victims of the tsunami in India, took less than a year. Kenny had admired Renee since seeing her on screen in Jerry Maguire and even wrote a song inspired by that movie called “You Had Me at Hello.” They met in January and were wed by April. The details over what went wrong were never made public, but Renee did cite “Fraud” as her reason for filing. Whatever the reason, it sure seems like it took Kenny a lot longer to get over the relationship than Renee.

  Amy Winehouse gets creative with cotton candy and cocaine

  In a brilliant idea to mix a sweet tooth, the munchies, and getting loaded into one sticky treat, Amy Winehouse and friends have put her personal candy floss (cotton candy) making machine to use, making cotton cocaine candy. Amy and her “friends” can get a sugar high and a cocaine high at the same time. Throw in some Redbull and you’ve got yourself an all-week all-nighter.

  A source told the News of the World that the concoction came about when Amy’s friend, Babyshambles guitarist Mik Whitnall, suggested it as a joke after the singer bought a £700 candyfloss machine.

  The source explained: “It was Mik’s idea. The candyfloss machine was Amy’s pride and joy and he thought it would be funny to give it a boost.

  “He and some pals sprinkled a wrap of coke into the mixture and Amy started eating it before she realised what they’d done. She now thinks it’s a hoot to do the same.”

  Oh, yeah, what a hoot! Are these friends that are inventing new and even more destructive ways for Amy to take drugs the same friends that are on that 24-hour suicide watch? With friends like that who needs Blake?

  It’s no surprise that these are the people who are surrounding Amy right now, birds of a feather and all, but these people aren’t friends. These people are users and abusers who are sticking around for the drugs, and to be able to say they were there when Amy Winehouse died.

  Lindsay Lohan has decided to keep her Halloween costume topical this year by dressing up as one of her most despised enemies. Paris Hilton? Nope, Sarah Palin. Lindsay has long shared her dislike for Palin via her MySpace blog. Which naturally caused quite the sensation. Not because it’s celebrity news, but who in the political arena doesn’t want to know what Lindsay thinks about a particular candidate? I mean she’s such a good gauge of the average American.

  Lindsay has decided to honor Palin by dressing up as her for Halloween. Not only is this topical, but it’s one of the few political costumes that can easily be made skanky.

  Channeling her rage against Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin into something constructive, Lindsay Lohan is planning to dress up as the former Miss Alaska runnerup for Halloween, pals of the newly political actress tell us.

  The costume will include the glasses, the perky red suit and ample cleavage.

  Even better, Lohan gal pal Sam Ronson is thinking about dressing as Sarah’s snow-machine-ridin’ hunky hubby, Todd, to complete the package.

  Lohan recently railed against Palin on her MySpace blog, calling her a “narrow- minded, media-obsessed homophobe.”

  Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but in this case we think Lohan is aiming for the jugular.

  We wonder if they’ll have lil’ sis Ali strap on a belly and come out as Bristol Palin.

  Bristol Palin’s baby daddy speaks

  The father of Bristol Palin’s unborn child has finally spoken to the press after months of silence. Levi Johnston spoke to the Associated Press today. He generally came off as a nice, simple, slightly naive kid. When he talked about what kind of dad he’s going to be, he listed a few of the fun “guy” things, noting, “‘I’m going to take him hunting and fishing. He’ll be everywhere with me.’” I got the impression that he’s genuinely going to try his best, but that he doesn’t yet fully appreciate how much work that’s going to be.

  Even though he seems like a pretty normal 18-year-old, I felt kind of torn between begrudgingly liking him and reminding myself that this is all still related to politics and thus he may have received coaching. Johnston recently dropped out of high school (he would have been a senior) to work as an apprentice electrician – presumably due to the impending birth of his child. The interview was kept pretty simple – there weren’t any deep, probing questions about his feelings or what Bristol’s long-term education plans are. But all in all I think he came across as a fairly decent kid – who’s got a lot to learn.

  On rumors:
  Levi Johnston, who’s having a baby with the daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin, can’t believe all the things he’s hearing. No, he wasn’t held against his will on the campaign trail. No, he’s not being forced into a shotgun wedding with 17-year-old Bristol Palin. “None of that’s true,” Johnston, 18, said in a rare interview with The Associated Press…

  On being told what to say:
  He agreed to talk despite the presidential campaign’s advice in the days following Gov. Sarah Palin’s nomination to avoid the media. “They’re not telling me anything right now,” Johnston said as he checked his Blackberry. “It’s pretty chill.” Not surprisingly, Johnston was a little shocked when he learned about Bristol’s pregnancy, but he says he quickly embraced the prospects of fatherhood.

  On being a dad:
  Johnston hinted he’s expecting a boy, but he declined to discuss baby names. “I’m looking forward to having him,” he said. “I’m going to take him hunting and fishing. He’ll be everywhere with me.”

  On his MySpace page:
  For starters, he said his much-maligned MySpace page was a joke — the one that claimed he said: “I’m a … redneck,” referring to a common stereotype of poor, rural, white Americans and “I don’t want kids.” Johnston said his friends created the page a few years ago, and he had nothing to do with it.

  On getting married:
  “We were planning on getting married a long time ago with or without the kid,” he said. “That was the plan from the start.” While Johnston provided few details about next summer’s wedding, the planning has started: A cousin will likely be his best man, and he has asked two hockey buddies, Ben Barber and Dane Wilson, to be groomsmen. Barber doesn’t think anyone pressured Johnston into marriage. “If he thought it wasn’t the right thing to do he probably wouldn’t do it,” he said.

  On hunting and tattoos:
  He’s hunted bears, sheep, elk, and caribou. Some of the antlers are scattered about his yard. Last July on a caribou hunt he lost a ring that Palin had given him. He said he decided to tattoo her name on the finger and not bother with more rings because he’d just lose them anyway.

  On his image:
  Johnston is an avid hunter. He’s dark haired, tall and muscular, sports a bit of stubble and drives a red Chevy Silverado truck. While Barber said his friend is a celebrity now, Johnston said it hasn’t changed him. “I’m still the same old boy,” said Johnston. “I’m just a workin’ man.”

  The thing that made me wonder if he’d been coached was his response to what he thought about Barack Obama. Johnston said “‘I don’t know anything about him. He seems like a good guy. I like him.’” I can’t think of a better answer. He also said he doesn’t know much about politics, so that’ll buy him out of most complex questions in the long run.

  It’s hard not to wonder how much of Johnston’s personality is him and how much is really a campaign advisor. Either way, he came off as nice and decent, even if it didn’t exactly seem like he was disclosing his deepest feelings. Hopefully both he and Bristol will grow into being good parents.

  Vanessa Paradis talks about her relationship with Johnny Depp

  Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp have generally been pretty quiet about their ten-year-old relationship. They live a pretty quiet life in France with their two children; Lily, 9 and Jack, 6. For some reason Paradis has given an interview with Elle – very out of character for the private singer/actress/ model. Celebitchy thinks she must be promoting her next album.

  Paradis talks about why she and Depp haven’t gotten married yet, how they met, and says that their relationship works because they are good for each other.

  “Each summer people say we’re supposed to be getting married, but we don’t talk about it that much,” Paradis – Depp’s girlfriend of 10 years and the mother of his two children – tells the U.K. edition of Elle in its November issue. “He’s got me, and he knows he’s got me.” Adds Paradis, 35: “I love the romance of ‘let’s get married,’ but then, when you have it so perfect … I mean, I’m more married than anybody can be – we have two kids [Jack, 6, and Lily Rose, 9]. Maybe one day, but it’s something I can really do without.”

  When French singer-actress-model first met Depp, it was not quite love at first sight.

  “We were in two different worlds – him in America, me in France – but we had friends in common,” explains the current face of Miu Miu. “We saw each other sometimes over the course of four years. But then, the day we found each other in Paris, we were both in the same world and free and it was just instant. There was no more time to waste – just no way around it.”

  Asked if she’s “tamed” the Pirates of the Caribbean star, whose previous girlfriends include Kate Moss and Winona Ryder, Paradis says: “Tamed. What’s that? Like a lion? Noooo, no, we did it to each other. Maybe I’m a good girlfriend because I’m his girlfriend. I’m not sure I’d be a good girlfriend to anyone else; the same for him. It’s difficult to explain, but it’s something that’s natural, obvious and beautiful.”

  Paradis also notes that Johnny is “very charming” and understands why women the world over have a crush on him. These two have always been so cute together, and it seems like it’s pretty clear they’re together for the long haul, whether they formalize it or not. They seem to have a very close bond and have figured out how to balance fame with living a happy, close, quiet life.

  Hugh Jackman goes swimming

  Hot Aussie dad Hugh Jackman just turned 40 yesterday and he celebrated the way any man with that physique would do in the summer - he went swimming. He was seen taking a dip today at Bronte Beach, a suburb of Sydney.

  On Saturday Hugh and his wife of 12 years Deborra-Lee Furness were seen at the playground with their two children, Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3. Hugh knelt down to talk to little Ava in a play house and even went down the slide.

  Jackman’s much-anticipated epic film Australia, directed by Baz Luhrmann and co-starring Nicole Kidman, is out in Australia on November 13 and in the the US on November 26. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is due out next year in May.

  Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon go out for coffee in London

  Somewhat elusive lovers Jake Gyllenhaal, 27, and Reese Witherspoon, 32, were spotted out getting coffee in their new city. The romantic pair were rumored to be having trouble a couple of weeks ago when Star Magazine ran a questionable piece saying that they were “drifting apart” as Jake worked 19 hour days in London and Morocco filming The Prince of Persia. Everything looks to be fine for these two and they were even said to be house hunting in London earlier this month. They smiled for the paparazzi and even held hands.

  Star has another story this week which claims that Jake almost lost an eye on set when he was screwing around throwing a key up in the air. It fell and scratched him right under his eye, causing a lot of blood and filming to be delayed. He’s said to be fine now, though. The wound was treated by the nurse on set and didn’t even require stitches, but Jake called in sick the next day.

  Chimpanzee helps care for tiger cubs

  There’s just too much cuteness in these photos to pass up. Two and a half year old chimpanzee Anjana has been helping care for three week tiger cubs at T.I.G.E.R.S. (The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species), in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The baby tigers were born during Hurricane Hannah, and when their habitat was flooded their mother became upset and they had to be separated from her for their safety. They are being hand-reared by a caregiver, with help from Anjana, who loves nurturing and playing with the cubs.

  Keeper China is the nursemaid to the baby animals born in the sanctuary and Anjana is her ever-present helper. According to the Daily Mail, Anjana has helped raise baby lions, leopards, and even fellow orangutans. She loves being with China and the baby animals and imitating the keeper’s behavior. It looks like it also comes naturally to little Anjana and that she loves her role as surrogate mom.

  Natalie Portman secretly visiting sick kids in hospital 3 times a week

  When celebrities do charity you often hear about it, especially if it involves some kind of foreign fact-seeking trip. They may seem genuinely changed afterwards, or at least more concerned about life outside their rarefied bubble. As much as people find it predictable, celebrities bring awareness to important causes and it’s not like many of us average people are traveling overseas to dedicate ourselves to charity. I have a couple of friend who were in the Peace Corps and they sacrificed a lot in the spirit of adventure and helping others. It’s not something I think I could ever do and you have to admire that kind of dedication. When celebrities go for a few days or a week somewhere it’s different of course, but they’re still sticking their neck out for a cause.

  The rest of us are content to help out in ways that benefit our community and it’s not something we get much credit for other than the satisfaction of helping others. It’s kind of refreshing to hear about a celebrity who has been quietly volunteering with sick kids without any publicity at all. Natalie Portman has been been visiting sick children at an LA hospital three days a week. She did get some press this Spring for a trip she made to Uganda to help publicize a microcredit finance charity she supports, FINCA, but this time we’ve barely heard anything about her volunteerism. It sounds like she’s doing it for the pure joy of helping others:

  According to a source [Natalie Portman] volunteers about three times a week at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles to cuddle sick kids. “Natalie loves that she’s doing something entirely removed from the entertainment industry,” says the pal. This is just the latest example of her wanting to make major changes in her life, adds the source. [Portman], who recently split from her folk rocker beau Devendra Banhart, has sold her West Village home and intends to relocate to L.A. in search of “a new beginning.”

  Portman, 27, has a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and has always struck me as mature compared to her careless peers. Portman is also a practicing vegan and has not eaten meat since the age of 9. That’s really touching that she’s visiting sick children and that no one has heard about it until now. It’s also kind of surprising that she’s moving to LA from NY, as the Star article mentions, but maybe she wants to get away from her ex and the memories in NY. There are a lot of kids in the hospital who are probably grateful that she’s decided to make the life change.

  Rocker Gwen Stefani, 39 her husband Gavin Rossdale, 40, and their almost two and a half year-old son, Kingston, went to Mr. Bones’ Pumpkin Patch in LA yesterday to pick up some gourds for the Halloween season. Gwen was retro cute in a black loose dress with black flats and a black cardigan while dad Gavin was casual in a t-shirt and jeans. Kingston looked a little tired and was carried by his mom and dad. At one point he rode in a wagon along with some pumpkins. Gwen and Gavin’s seven week old son, Zuma, was not with them.

  That’s cute that Gwen and Gavin took Kingston out to get pumpkins. Gavin told Hello! Magazine in an inteview published in September that Kingston needed to get used to not being the center of attention now that he has a new little brother but that “He’s an amazing kid and we’re really blessed with him because he’s healthy and he’s happy and he’s surrounded by love.” You can tell that they’re trying their best to make Kingston feel included and special now that he has some competition.

  The famous family was spotted out at the park last week and Gwen and Kingston were seen at a carnival the week before.

  Mark Wahlberg not happy about Saturday Night Live parody skit

  Saturday Night Live did a parody last weekend of the show Mark Wahlberg produces, Entourage, featuring Andy Samberg talking to a bunch of animals in the style of the characters on the HBO series. Samberg did a near perfect imitation of Wahlberg asking the animals how they were doing and telling them to say hi to their mothers for him. It was pretty funny for the first few animals, and kind of a surreal concept, but they dragged it out for just a little too long as is typical on SNL.

  Wahlberg had a Q&A that was published in Sunday’s NY Post in which he’s promoting his upcoming action film, Max Payne. When asked for his thoughts on the SNL parody, he dismissed it as unfunny and said the show has jumped the shark. He also said that he’s turned down SNL’s requests to host in the past:

  Someone showed it to me on YouTube. It wasn’t like Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin, that’s for sure. And “Saturday Night Live” hasn’t been funny for a long time. They’ve asked me to do the show a ton of times. I used to watch it when Eddie Murphy was there and Joe Piscopo and Bill Murray. I don’t even know who’s on the show now.

  Wahlberg could have handled that much better - like with a sense of humor. He could have praised Samberg’s pitch perfect imitation of him, but he decided to dismiss it and act like the show is irrelevant when you can tell it annoyed him.

  This reminds me of a couple of things Wahlberg said early this summer. He said that the Oceans movies sucked and he’s glad he turned down an offer to star in them and act all buddy-buddy with the other A-listers. He also criticized his relatively new neighbors, the Beckhams, for bringing the paparazzi to his neighborhood. He called David Beckham a f’cker and said that he should go back to the UK, but that he was just in Britain and “they don’t want him back there.”

  Wahlberg is quite the curmudgeon for a guy who is just 37. I kind of find it hot that he has this totally humorless personality, like a guy who would spank you with a sexy scowl on his face.

  Beverly Hills Chihuahua film trumps DiCaprio Crowe thriller at the box office

  The numbers are in for the weekend box office and the talking Chihuahua film was a definite hit with the crowds, if not with critics. Beverly Hills Chihuahua remained at number one after opening last weekend to take in an estimated $17.5 million. New opener horror flick Quarantine was number two at $14 million, and Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe’s cerebral thriller, Body of Lies opened at number three with $13 million. Analysts say that people just aren’t interested in anything close to real-life drama after the recent economic freefall and want some mindless escapism at the movies. There are even stories of adults going to see the talking dog adventure movie on their own:

  Disney’s family comedy “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,” with Drew Barrymore providing the voice of the pooch, was the No. 1 flick for the second-straight weekend with $17.5 million, raising its 10-day total to $52.5 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

  “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” is the only light comedy in a market heavy on drama. Chuck Viane, Disney’s head of distribution, said movie-goers may be turning to the perky pooch to help forget the market free-fall on Wall Street.

  “This is only word-of-mouth coming back to us from theaters. I don’t have any statistical proof. But they’re telling us we’re getting more unaccompanied-by-children adults coming on their own. They’re looking for a little entertainment,” Viane said. “The axiom we’ve always lived by is funny is money. People come out for comedy. They love to sit back and let someone give them a couple of hours of escapism.”

  The weekend’s No. 2 flick _ the fright film “Quarantine,” which debuted with $14.2 million _ filled the escapism needs for the horror crowd. The Sony Screen Gems release centers on a contagion that turns an apartment building’s tenants into flesh-hungry monsters.

  “It’s probably the perfect kind of movie for today’s climate,” said Rory Bruer, Sony head of distribution. “Let’s just get away from the news, from all that’s going on, and go someplace else, and this is something that’ll take you someplace else.”

  The marquee trio of Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott had to settle for third-place with their terrorism thriller “Body of Lies,” which had a $13.1 million debut. The Warner Bros. film centers on a CIA operative hunting the terrorist responsible for bombings around the world.

  There’s always DVD sales for Body of Lies, which was expected to do at least 40% better in its opening weekend. There’s not a huge difference in the critics opinions for any of the top three movies. Beverly Hills Chihuahua gets a 42% aggregate rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it “shallow”, “generic”, and “innoffensive” family fare.Quarantine is rated the best at 67%. Some call it “brutally realistic,” and an edge of your seat thriller. Body of Lies falls somewhere in between the two with 52%. It’s being blasted as too long and too dependent on DiCaprio and Crowe to carry an implausible overly-slick spy film. It clocks in at two hours and eight minutes, and people would rather spend that time in a fantasy world where cute dogs talk and go on adventures.

  Clint Eastwood’s seemingly depressing 20s kidnap film, Changeling starring Angelina Jolie, opens October 24 in limited release and is out in general release on Halloween. It faces competition from Max Payne, The Secret Life of Bees, Saw V, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. The 3D version of The Nightmare before Christmas also comes out October 24. You can kind of predict which films are going to clean up at the box office and which ones people will avoid in favor of lighter fare.

  Paris Hilton won’t de-plane until she’s wearing the right clothes

  When Paris Hilton’s L.A. to London flight landed at Heathrow International last week, Paris didn’t hurry off the plane. Instead, she stayed seated and waited for everyone else to get off the plane and then, reportedly, stayed even longer while she picked out the right outfit and made sure her hair and make-up were camera-ready.

  The socialite flew into Heathrow on Tuesday to film the London-version of her reality TV show Paris Hilton’s My New BFF but an onboard source told the Sunday Mirror that she stay on the plane long after all her other fellow passenger had disembarked.

  The source explained: “Every other passenger had got off the aircraft but she stayed on, telling the staff she couldn’t possibly be seen in public until she had decided on her outfit.”

  But Hilton overestimated her British appeal. Paris apparently expected fans and paparazzi to greet her upon disembarking the aircraft, and she was ready for her adoring public when she finally walked off the plane. But no one was there and she walked through Heathrow without any fanfare.

  After picking out her clothes and applying perfect make-up, Paris finally left the plane but the source added that she was disappointed to find it was all for nothing: “Paris was red-faced as she came through the airport pretty much unnoticed.”

  I imagine this happens more often than not for Paris Hilton. Not that she doesn’t have her fans, there just aren’t that many of them. Besides, if you’ve ever been through Heathrow, you know that no one pays attention to anyone else there. Celebrities are often photgraphed walking through the expanse that is Heathrow International with no one at all around them, it’s not like walking out of The Ivy or Kitson.

  Star Jones calls the women of The View “hateful”

  Star Jones has decided to let it out about how she feels she was treated by her former co-hosts on The View. Star abruptly left the show in 2006, surprising even Barbara Walters with her announcement. Jones has previously said she felt betrayed by Walters, but her words now are about all the women she worked with on the show.

  In a hateful little statement of her own, when asked about her former husband, Al Reynolds’ YouTube videos telling the world that he is still in love with her, all Ms. Jones had to say was “I’m not in love with him.”

  She says she’s ready to be in love, though. Star was recently seen kissing chef Herb Wilson in the stands at the U.S. Open so we may be able to look forward to another lavish, corporate sponsored wedding in the future. It really was an ingenious plan. Maybe not too classy, but commercially ingenious.

  In a new interview in the November issue of Essence magazine, Jones also opens up about “falling into a depression” after losing her self-titled Court TV show last year; her ongoing dispute with Barbara Walters (“Barbara set me up”); and her divorce from Al Reynolds, which was finalized in September.

  While I wouldn’t wish depression on anyone, Star Jones just doesn’t recognize that she’s not a beloved or trusted personality. To fall into a depression after her most recent stab at television was cancelled means that she honestly thought people wanted to listen to her in the first place and was disappointed they didn’t. People don’t forget when you lie and take them for fools and Star blatantly told her core audience on The View that she lost over 160 pounds by exercising and eating right, insinuating she was better than the gastric surgery she was speculated to have had. She then thought everyone would respect and empathize with her when she admitted to the surgery. The course of her career since then shows that people didn’t do either. Jones is in talks again to return to unscripted TV, so she still hasn’t gotten the point.

  Travis Barker blogs about hospital life, ex-wife’s lack of support

  Travis Barker has continued to speak out about his recovery, this time on his myspace page. It’s great to see him recovering, and hopefully he’s finding the messages for his recovery distracting. Anyone who has had an extended stay in hospital (he’s been in since September 20) know that it is the dullest place on earth, next to Starbucks.

  Travis says he is recovering well, and thanks everyone for their support. He also pays tribute to his friends/employees Chris and Che that died in the crash, saying “I would give up anything to have them here with me today.”

  Like the doctors said from the beginning, its been a slow recovery process. I am coming up on the 7th of my surgeries Monday. Today I finally was able to move all my fingers on my right hand. Every step seems huge at this point, and Im doing EVERYTHING I can possibly do to get back to my kids. Yes, I did start eating meat again, but if it helps me to be home holding my little humans sooner, then its all worth it. The staff here are all bomb! Dr. Grossman and his staff are the best. The BOSS Barbara, and nurses Betty, Jay , Emily, Julio, Lolita, and Stephanie (with the best scrubs ever!) are all taking the best care of me.

  Travis also includes some pictures of himself in hospital, which shows his bandages and just how serious the crash was. Burns take an amazingly long time to heal, often years, and multiple surgeries.

  Travis has this to say about his ex wife. The emphases are his own, not mine.

  Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, Ive been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and in Georgia. The hospitals Ive been treated at are THE BEST.

  Today Shanna has a new PETA ad out, just a few days after Travis revealed he is eating meat to help his protein levels. Jaybird commented that at first thought she assumed the often squabbling pair were feuding again, but assumed otherwise. Perhaps they are, after all, when I’m sick I think my tolerance for people drops significantly, and that’s even people I like. It’s not unlikely that they could have had a falling out under those circumstances.

  Travis ends by saying he had a visit from DJ AM and found it inspiring, highlighting the excellent medical team at their shared hospital. He also adds that he is sad to have missed his son’s birthday party, but is grateful to be around to see many more.

  In the pictures the always thin Travis looks gaunt, and has his right hand bandaged past his elbow.

  J.Lo and Marc Anthony renew their vows in Vegas

  There’s something about late night partying in Vegas that works like a magnet to the 24-hour chapels in the city. Early Sunday morning, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony found themselves bored at Pure Nightclub at Caesar’s Palace and decided join friends Carlos Beltran and his wife, Jessica, in renewing their vows.

  More than four years after saying “I do”, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony secretly renewed their vows in Las Vegas early Sunday morning, PEOPLE has learned.

  Witnessed by two friends, the duo renewed the vows at Caesars Palace’s Forum Tower Penthouse at 3:15 a.m. Sunday after a night at Pure Nightclub, a rep for the hotel confirmed to PEOPLE. The service was officiated by Rev. Steven Smith.

  “It was totally a spur of the moment thing,” a source said. “They decided around 12:30 in the morning that they wanted to do it and started calling for ministers.”

  Said to be in Sin City for Marc’s birthday, the couple spent Friday and Saturday nights at Vegas nightclubs and Criss Angel’s show, Believe. They were the first people to stay in Caesar’s Palace’s renovated Forum Tower Penthouse, which had just opened back up on Saturday. The two re-weddings took place in the suite’s rotunda.

  Jennifer’s parents were unable to attend because they were with Max and Emme.

  Anthony and Lopez have been married for a little over four years. I love the thought behind a celebration of dedication to each other by renewing your vows after 10, 20, 50 years, but what does renewing after 4 years and 4 months mean? We renew our driver’s licenses, our passports, and our library cards when they expire. I haven’t yet figured out the reason to renew marriage vows since they should still be pretty current after less than five years.

  Oh, wait, I just thought of one. Negative press calling you a Scientolgist and a published interview you didn’t want public. Because there’s nothing better than love and a 4:00 am Vegas vow-renewal to boost your public image.

  Dallas fans pay up to $1,000 to party with the Ewings

  Once upon a time, long ago in the 1980’s, there was a family of American oil wealth, greed, power and dysfunction that polarized the TV-watching nation when the wealthiest and greediest of them was shot in a season cliff-hanger. 30-years later, the hold Dallas and the Ewing family had on nighttime soap fanatics is strong enough to pull money out of them in these very un-Dallas times.

  On Nov. 8, J.R., Bobby, Sue Ellen and other Ewing kin will mark the anniversary with a reunion and barbecue at Southfork Ranch. Viewed panoramically in the show’s introduction, the ranch is in the Dallas suburb of Parker, about 25 miles north of the flashy downtown skyscrapers also featured in the opening scenes.

  Fans from Japan, Australia, Europe and across the United States have plunked down anywhere from $100 to $1,000 for the tickets. The more one pays, the greater one gains access to cast members including Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy.

  “This thing is going to be a lot of fun,” said the 77-year-old Hagman, seated in the formal living room of the Southfork mansion, a trademark cowboy hat on his head. “It’s the first one we’ve ever done with fans. They’re coming from everywhere.”

  Along with the barbecue, there will be country music, dancing, fireworks and a laser light show.

  “This is a chance to live like and be a Ewing for a day,” said Jason Hardison, the event’s executive producer. “We’re going to celebrate the excess and success of the 1980s, at least the oil boom, and the money that surrounded Dallas.”

  My dad didn’t allow me to watch Dallas. To be fair, it wasn’t all Dallas‘ fault, he didn’t let us watch more than a half hour of TV a day, but even I remember the summer of “Who shot J.R.?” When the answer came out the next season I had no idea who the shooter character was, but I knew it was the talk of the airwaves.

  It’s sort of an ironic time to be celebrating the “excess and success of the 1980s, at least the oil boom, and the money that surrounded Dallas”. There are some people who just take their TV very seriously, though, and want to feel like a part of something so fabuloulsy decadent. In the price of the tickets, the more you spend, the closer you’re allowed to get to actually feeling like a part of Dallas and the Ewings.

  My dad would not approve.
