Heidi Klum launches new makeup line in costume

Heidi Klum got into the Halloween spirit a little early this year by dressing up as a fairy to promote her new makeup collection at Victoria’s Secret. Or maybe she’s just in the “making fun of Paris Hilton” mood – her costume is remarkably similar to the one worn by Hilton for her latest perfume ad. Looking at these pictures, it’s pretty hard to believe that Klum has given birth to three children. The devoted mother also proudly told Us that she’s gotten into the spirit of fall and baked her first pumpkin pie with her kids.

Add baker to Heidi Klum’s list of accomplishments! “Last night I made my first pumpkin pie!” Klum told Usmagazine.com Thursday at The Women’s Conference in L.A. Her assistants? Kids Leni, 4, and Henry, 3. “I didn’t have all the ingredients to make the crust, so we got all of the hard cookies out of the cabinet,” the Project Runway host explained. “Leni was hammering the cookies and then Henry got to the hammer the cookies. He made the crumbs. It was crazy, but honestly it was the tastiest one ever!”

As for hubby Seal, “He has not tasted it yet because he’s not here,” Klum told Us. “But I am going to put one in the freezer for him.” She added: “He’s not going to believe that I baked. I cook, but I do not bake!” Meanwhile, while Klum, who throws a star-studded Halloween party ever year, revealed what her kids will be dressing up as.

“Leni will be a bumblebee and the boys are both going to be Superman,” she said. “Johan is completely easy, and he’ll be anything. He doesn’t care.” What about Klum herself? “I can’t say. It’s a surprise,” she told Us. “I always have an outrageous outfit. I always try to top myself every year.”

It’s hard to imagine the woman in this getup helping her kids smash cookies for pies. Even though she’s gorgeous, rich, and glamorous, Heidi Klum has always struck me as remarkably down to earth, everything considered. She’s clearly crazy about her kids and her husband which is always sweet to see.

Are Cheryl Burke & Lacey Schwimmer too fat for DWTS?

A few weeks ago Dancing with the Stars professional Cheryl Burke randomly told People magazine about how anorexia wasn’t beautiful, and then went on to talk about how she’s totally okay with her body. It seemed a little unnecessary but was a good point nonetheless. Now it looks like Cheryl must have been taking some serious heat for her weight on the set, because not one but two of her male costars have criticized the female dancers’ bodies.

The professional dancers on DWTS are not pleased that Cheryl Burke and Lacey Schwimmer packed on a few pounds this season.

“If you want to gain weight, it’s your prerogative,” dancer Louis van Amstel says in the newest issue of TV Guide. “We all put on weight because there was no summer tour,” he adds. “But you have to deal with the consequences.”

Pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy is also complaining.

“When I first saw these women this season, I said, ‘Guys, you know the camera adds 10 pounds,’” he says. “‘You have to do something about this.” Burke and Schwimmer have gotten slimmer since the season’s premiere, but van Amstel says the damage is done.

“[People] look at this show to be inspired and think, ‘If I just work hard enough, I can look like that,’” he says. “If they watch someone who’s dancing her butt off and she’s still heavy, they can be discouraged.

“You have to take responsibility,” he adds.

This is so unnecessary and mean spirited. There really is no winning. If a person slims down or focuses too much on what they eat they’re obsessed. If they put on any weight they’re unhealthy. Either way, average bodies are going to be called fat if they dare to be average. Yes Cheryl and Lacey are dancers, which means that they’re already highly aware of how their bodies look. They probably spend more than half their days in front of full-length mirrors. Whatever the reason for their weight gain, I’m sure they’re painfully aware of it.

They don’t need some insensitive jerks making comments about it. Especially after they’ve both worked hard to lose weight. This show is supposed to be about fun, which is why people like it. Criticizing women’s bodies for being less-than-perfect (dancers or otherwise) isn’t necessary.

Angelina Jolie says her family is her top priority

Angelina Jolie just gave an interview to Italian Vanity Fair in which she says working is no longer her priority – her children are. Angelina says she no longer has the ambition that she had in her twenties –though I’m assuming what she means is that she no longer has the same ambitions, because most would agree that her family plans are still pretty ambitious. She also talks about the ways motherhood has made her a better, less selfish person and helped her find her real self.

Angelina Jolie says that her priorities have changed from career to motherhood since giving birth to twins in July. “The kids are my priority, so it’s possible that from now on I will make fewer movies. I may even stop altogether,” Jolie tells the Italian edition of Vanity Fair. “I no longer have the ambition I had in my 20s.”

Jolie, 33, who spoke to the magazine while promoting her new movie Changeling, says that as she has had more children, she’s come into her own as a mother. “In reality my life is a lot more chaotic and adventurous now. Brad [Pitt] and I pilot airplanes, we travel non-stop, we go to difficult places and we have chosen to do it taking all of the kids with us,” said the mother of six. “I feel a lot braver now than when I was an angry young woman.”

Of her past, she says, “I knew little about the world and I was completely self-absorbed. It was only when I came out of my shell and started taking care of others that I found the real Angelina.” Jolie says her children have inherited her taste for globe-trotting. “Sure I am still restless, but do you know that my kids are the same way? We were in France these last few months and after a while they started asking when we could get back on a plane.”

That curiosity about the world is a value she wants her kids to maintain throughout their lives. “I want them to be able to walk through a marketplace in Adis Ababa and not bat and eye, not think it is dirty and ugly, but that it just represents another part of the world and humanity.”

Jolie admits there’s a chance she and partner Brad Pitt will get married in the future, but she says it’ll probably be due to questions from their kids. They ask her why Shrek and Fiona are married but there own parents aren’t. And it’s a fair questions: Shrek and Fiona’s biggest obstacles were their unattractive looks. You’d think that if they could manage to get over it and see what’s on the inside, Brad and Angie could too. I’m kidding, naturally. Except about Brad. That guy is hard to look at.

I think Angelina describes a feeling a lot of women deal with as they have children. The question of if you should worry about some company that doesn’t care about you versus spending time raising your child seems like a rather moot one at times. In Angelina’s case she doesn’t exactly have to stress about the financial ramifications and can just do what suits her best. And that’s one of the ways she’s luckiest of all.

Heather Mills has burned through nearly half her divorce settlement

Heather Mills fought tooth and nail for the £24.3 million she was awarded in her divorce from Paul McCartney. After the nasty divorce, where Mills said she needed more money to properly raise the couple’s daughter, Beatrice, Heather appeared pleased with the settlement. But $50 million doesn’t go as far as one would think when Heather Mills is spending it.

A source said: “Heather’s been moaning her money isn’t going as far as she thought, but she’s just burning her way through it.

“She reckons she has spent £10million since the divorce and still doesn’t have a finished house to live in. She hasn’t changed. In her eyes the whole world is against her.”

On top of all of that, Mills is asking McCartney to buy her East Sussex home she says she cannot afford to keep up. Paul feels his daughter is happy there and wants her and her mother to be able to stay there so is said to be considering it. Part of the money Heather has wasted away went to a large, million dollar, outdoor swimming pool at the estate.

It would probably be a wise investment for Mills to hire a financial manager. She seems to be spending wantonly, with no rhyme nor reason. A $5 million apartment in NYC, $12 million towards various improvements to various other properties, but can’t get the home, where she and McCartney want their daughter to be able to live, in order. It sounds like she’s a little manic with the money and can’t focus on the important things. Instead of making a home for Beatrice, she bought $1 million worth of vegetarian food for homeless people in New York. Sometimes it’s not “the thought that counts” in a gift, and using people who certainly can’t continue the eating lifestyle to promote it has no thought in it at all for the homeless. Mills could find herself among them if she keeps up the spending spree.

Isaac Hayes doesn’t leave Church of Scientology anything in his will

Soul singer Isaac Hayes was strongly associated with Scientology in the later years of his life. He even quit his job as the voice of Chef on “South Park” over an episode of the show that mocked the religion. But it turns out that Hayes wasn’t willing to show the cult any financial love in his last will and testament. Looks like Kelly Preston got all dolled up for those funerals for nothing.

The last will and testament of the late superstar Isaac Hayes’s is being probated right now. And guess what? Hayes left nothing to the Church of Scientology.

This news must sting something awful, as numerous well-known Scientologists attended not one but maybe four different funerals and memorial services for Hayes in August after he died.

But according to sources who know the inner workings of Hayes’s estate, the “Shaft” composer divided his will in thirds. Portions go to his 11 elder children; his widow and young son; and his charitable foundation.

There was no provision for the Church, which ordinarily requires its celebrity members to pony up while they’re alive. Big donors include usual suspects Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, and so on.

Preston, who knew Hayes only slightly through the church, carried on at both Memphis funerals, crying on cue and blubbering to anyone who’d listen about how much she “loved” Hayes. This amused to no end the Memphis musicians who’d known Hayes for 40 years.

While I’m sure the COS was able to suck quite a bit of cash out Hayes while he was alive, this news had to hurt them a little bit. In case you’re wondering, his charitable foundation was in no way affiliated with Scientology - it’s an organization aimed at funding the Stax Academy of Music, a music school located in Memphis, as well as global literacy organizations. His foundation helped impoverished schools in Ghana, Africa establish Internet links for students.

DJ AM and Mandy Moore are back together

If there’s any silver lining in the devastating plane crash that killed four people and injured DJ AM and Travis Barker, it’s this story. Singer/actress Mandy Moore, who dated DJ AM earlier this year, rushed to her ex’s side in Atlanta after hearing the news that he’d suffered second and third-degree burns in the accident. Now, it appears that the couple are back on again. It seems that the crash was a wake-up call for both of them to realize how much they mean to each other.

Reunited!

Mandy Moore and Adam “DJ A.M.” Goldstein dated for only two months in 2007, but it looks like that was long enough to form a bond.

“It’s back on,” a DJ A.M. source says in the newest issue of Us Weekly , on stands now. “Since the accident, it’s blossomed into something again.”

(Moore, 24, rushed to DJ A.M.’s side after the September 19 plane crash that left him with burns on his arm and scalp, injured Travis Barker, 32, and killed four others.)

Continues the insider, “Mandy said, ‘I like this guy a lot and I want to see where it can go again. Life is too short to not be with someone you really care about.’”

The pair haven’t been shy about PDA, either.

A witness who saw the two at the October 18 Friendly House event in Beverly Hills says, “He was holding her hand, and they were rubbing each other’s backs.”

So after romances with other members of Young Hollywood — DJ A.M., 35, was once engaged to Nicole Richie, 27, while Moore dated Zach Braff, 33, and Andy Roddick, 26 — could the couple make it work this time?

Says a second DJ A.M. source, “When you go through what Adam went through, you need people you love and people who love you. He will never stop loving her.”

Everyone was speculating that it would be Travis Barker and ex-wife Shanna Moakler who’d be rekindling their romance, but it looks like Mandy and AM are the real couple. It was clear with Mandy’s response to AM’s tragedy that she still cares for him deeply. Sometimes the worst things bring out the best in people. I hope these two can put the accident behind him and build something new together. Who knows- maybe they’ll even get married.

Carol Alt claims her husband dumped her because she was infertile

Supermodel Carol Alt, a regular fixture on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover during the late 80s, claims that cancer treatments left her unable to have kids - and that’s why her hockey-player husband, Ron Greschner, wanted a divorce. Alt and Greschner were married from 1983-1997, and Greschner continued as Carol’s business manager for two more years. Currently, Carol is suing her ex over a $9 million business deal in Manhattan federal court.

Supermodel Carol Alt says she and ex-Ranger captain Ron Greschner split because she had cancer and couldn’t satisfy his goal of having kids, bombshell court papers reveal.

In the papers - filed in advance of her civil trial next week in Manhattan federal court, where the stunning Alt is suing her retired hockey-playing ex-hubby for $9 million over a business deal - she also says the two continued to have sex “well after” agreeing to divorce.

The onetime Sports Illustrated cover girl - who at 47 is set to bare it all for the December issue of Playboy - told Sports Illustrated in 2001 that their high-profile marriage ended because “he wanted children, and I wasn’t ready.”

But in the new court papers, she says the real problem was that she “could not conceive” as a result of cervical and uterine cancer and “because Greschner strongly desired children, the two decided that Greschner should be with someone who could so provide him.”

The former defenseman now has five children with wife Lori.

It must have been very painful for Carol to go through cancer and treatment, and then find that she and her partner were unable to compromise over children. I don’t know if the couple ever considered adoption - it sounds like her ex=husband was keen on the idea of biological kids instead. At any rate, they’ve been divorced for over 10 years, and Greschner hasn’t been her business manager since 1998. I’m not sure what Carol is trying to gain here.
Lindsay Lohan wore out her welcome at “Ugly Betty”

Lindsay Lohan has been talking about how much fun she’s had working with the cast at the ABC hit show “Ugly Betty” in a guest star role over the last two seasons. But sources say the feeling isn’t mutual. The cast and crew at the show are so fed up with Lindsay, her habits, and the havoc she wreaks on set, they’ve cut the number of appearances this season from six to four. Meanwhile, Linsday’s defenders are saying that the show’s star, America Ferrera, is the real diva and was “mean” to Linsday.

IT got so ugly on the set of “Ugly Betty” between Lindsay Lohan and the popular ABC show’s star, America Ferrera, that Lohan was cut from an agreed-upon six episodes to four.

One production source said, “It was a mess. Lindsay would show up every day with an entourage of people. She smoked 24/7, and after she left, they had to repaint her dressing room it was such a mess.”

In addition, Lohan “would obsessively cut pictures of herself out of the tabloids like she was creating some sort of scrapbook and refused to go on set until America was there - it was a power play.”

One episode, titled “Granny Pants,” was about how Lohan, playing Betty’s high school nemesis, would “de-pants” Ferrera. But Ferrera exacts her revenge and pulls down Lohan’s pants instead. “Lindsay wasn’t wearing any underwear,” the source said.

But a Lohan pal fumed, “Bull [bleep]! Lindsay wears underwear all the time now. She was wearing a G-string. And it was America’s fault. They were rehearsing the scene and America wasn’t supposed to pull Lindsay’s pants down - but she did. Lindsay was so embarrassed, she started crying.”

As for the dressing room, Lohan’s pal said it was also used by the cast of the Fox sci-fi thriller “Fringe.” “So maybe they messed it up. And an entourage? Yeah, she had her sober companion with her, as well as her manager, assistant and [girlfriend] Samantha Ronson. Her publicist was there a couple of times. But so what?”

The pal blames Ferrera for any issues, saying, “America was mean to Lindsay. Producers give her too much power. Lindsay didn’t do the last two episodes because America didn’t like her and got her kicked off.”

Ferrera’s rep would only say, “America is grateful to have had her on the show and thinks everyone should tune in to see how great the episodes are.”

Lohan’s rep said, “Lindsay was scheduled for six episodes and is appearing in four but had a lovely time.

Based on everything I’ve read and seen of America Ferrera, I can’t imagine her being mean or instigating a “power play” with anyone. Conversely, there are endless interviews and stories of Lindsay talking smack about other actresses- including those she’s never even met. Pretty much every female peer she’s worked with has tales of Lindsay’s snotty behavior, from Megan Fox to the cast of “That 70’s Show.” If I had to pick which one was the “mean” girl, it wouldn’t be hard to do. It’s too bad that after all she’s been through, Lindsay still can’t seem to understand that her attitude and treatment of people will continue to negatively effect both her image and her ability to get work. “Ugly Betty” may be a TV show, but it’s a high profile one that a lot of people watch. This could have been a great opportunity for her to kick-start her career and win back some acting cred- but instead, her antics are getting more attention, as usual.

Tom & Katie use an entire apartment as Suri’s playroom

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes really don’t seem to understand the line between being a doting parent and spoiling a child rotten. It’s generally difficult to say daughter Suri is spoiled – she doesn’t seem to have many friends and we never see her at the playground. In fact she doesn’t seem to get to interact with anyone but Tom and Katie. Considering how restrictive her life is, it’s hard to say the tot gets everything she wants. Yet today Page Six mentions that Tom and Katie have bought several apartments in a downtown Manhattan building, and use an entire one just as Suri’s playroom – as though that’s totally normal.

TOM Cruise and Katie Holmes want to bring their Hollywood lifestyle to the East Village. According to a neighbor, Cruise and Holmes are buying up lofts in a 12-story building slightly south of 14th Street. “Tom and Katie now keep five units in the building. They turned one into [2-year-old daughter] Suri’s playroom. One they use for a gym, and two apartments are for staff,” said our source.

Cruise bought a 10th-floor unit in 1985 and has held onto the space since. “In the past couple of months they’ve bought up all these other apartments,” our source said. “They’re all separate and on different floors. Tom is seen coming in and out all the time, and he’s really friendly to everyone he meets. But Katie just kind of keeps her head down. Everyone in the neighborhood is buzzing about it.” A rep for Cruise denies the couple is buying up units in that building.

That does sound like an odd living arrangement. So the first apartment is for the family, but the littlest member has an entire apartment devoted solely to her playtime. I worry that Suri’s in there, dramatically gazing out a floor-to-ceiling window and plotting her escape.

I’d think that for whatever reason, Tom and Katie like the building and are just buying units as they become available. Plus it makes it easier for them to keep separate spaces without gossip. What’s better than separate bedrooms? Separate apartments of course. If nothing else their arrangement doesn’t offer much privacy. If they’re bouncing from unit to unit throughout the day it seems like they could have to interact with a lot of neighbors. Not that it’d be a bad thing in the slightest, but it could get a little tiresome when you’re at home and settled in for the night.

Having an entire apartment for a playroom is certainly not the weirdest part of Suri’s life. If nothing else, it seems like Tom and Katie should compensate her for all the isolation by buying her every toy in existence. Or a robofriend.
