John Edwards caught with alleged mistress and love child?

Some potentially highly explosive stuff here! The National Enquirer reports that they caught former Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards sneaking into a Beverly Hills hotel at 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 22nd, so he could see his Santa Barbara based mistress and their love child!

Edwards was reportedly in Los Angeles on business to attended a press event with the city’s mayor about homelessness.

The Enquirer cites a months-long investigation to advance its claim that Edwards was visiting the woman he was having an affair and fathered a child with, while his wife was/ and is still battling cancer.

The Enquirer originally broke the story of Edwards’ love child scandal last year, when the mistress was still pregnant and John was still considered a strong candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Both parties denied the report and a close friend of Edwards’ came forward and said he was the father of the mistress’s baby. The Enquirer insists that Edwards was engineering a massive cover up of his infidelity.

A commenter by the name of “Edna” posted a supposed “first hand” account on what really went down between Christian Bale and his mother and sister at London’s Dorchester hotel on Sunday. She proclaims:

My father works security at the hotel, and he said it was a mess. His mom and sister wanted the front desk worker to let them into his room to wait for him. When they were told no they started cussing and yelling. They sat in front of his door for an hour until he finally arrived.

His mom and sister are alcoholics and drug addicts, they showed up at his hotel uninvited and highly intoxicated. They were calling him big shot and that he needs to take care of his own. His mom was yelling that he would be nothing without her and he owed her. His sister was begging for money and when he was pushing her toward the door his mother came from behind and started hitting him on his head and kicking him. He managed to push them both out the door and his mom fell, they called the police and wanted him arrested. I believe that Chirstian [sic] is the victim here not his mom or sister.

Take this for what it’s worth considering the sketchy source but after doing a bit of research the story does sound plausible. Christian has already made a statement to the police and left the station without being charged. His rep released this statement:

“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister,” the star’s lawyers said in the statement. “Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale.”
‘Golden Girl’ Estelle Getty has died!

Even though we knew this day was coming soon it doesn’t make it easy to report. “Golden Girl” Estelle Getty has died this morning at her home in Los Angeles. She was 84. Estelle was surrounded by her family and friends when she went away. She suffered from Lewy Body Dementia for years. Best known for donning a granny wig and oversize glasses to play a character 20 years older than herself, Getty won an Emmy and Golden Globe for her wise-cracking Sicilian mother Sophia Petrillo role on “The Golden Girls.” Did you know that Estelle was actually one year younger then Bea Arthur and Betty White? R.I.P. Estelle!

A lot of the drama for The Hills‘ fourth season debuting in August, seems to have been kept under wraps this time. The cast seems to be growing quite a bit (lots of men). The producers are finally doing something with Whitney. Spencer & Heidi seem like lame ducks now.

Also btw, Heidi Montag announced she and boyfriend Spencer Pratt are planning a trip to the Middle East to perform for the troops. (Haven’t the troops suffered enough?}

Heidi tells: My brother was an airborne ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s very important to me and important to Spencer to support the troops and go over there. Heidi’s stepbrother, who fought in Iraq, passed away last March after he fell off a roof in Colorado.

John McCain’s daughter Meghan (Heidi’s supposed new BFF) will be footing the bill, says Spencer: “Her dad definitely has some pull with the military. I think she’s going to put that together for us.”
Alec Baldwin gets a little angry with Diane Sawyer?

Alec Baldwin is currently promoting his divorce memoir, “A Promise to Ourselves,” and he turned down interviews with Larry King and others, because he only wanted to talk to Diane Sawyer. Diane agreed to the interview, but had to reschedule because her husband, Mike Nichols had heart surgery.

A source told Rush & Molloy that Alec flipped out, “Diane’s people couldn’t believe how angry Baldwin got. She was running back from the hospital!”

A friend of Alec’s came to his defense basically saying Alec’s anger was justifiable: “The interview was rescheduled at least four times. Then the air conditioning wasn’t working. Alec was a little annoyed, but not with Diane.” The air conditioning wasn’t working?!

Christian Bale accused of assault against his mother?

This is stunning news, but Batman star Christian Bale has been apparently accused of assaulting his mother and sister. The actor’s mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, claim Bale lashed out at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday night July 20th, and they reportedly filed a police report in Hampshire, England on Monday (21Jul08).
Th authorities were reluctant to speak to Bale on Monday, because he was promoting his new movie, The Dark Knight, in London, for the first European screening . A source tells The UK Sun, “It was a very difficult situation but it would have been wrong to have wrecked the premiere over a complaint which we don’t yet know is founded in truth. A mother filed a report against their son and they have serious doubts?
“But Mr Bale will be contacted at the earliest opportunity and be asked to provide an account of anything that happened.” A police spokesman says, “We can confirm we have received allegation from another force in relation to an alleged incident in central London.”

Police are expected to make attempts to question the Wales-born actor today. But one expects with the way authorities tip-toe around celebrities that this will likely all get swept under the rug quickly, unless Christian’s mom talks with the press. Interesting side note, Christian’s father who is now deceased divorced his mother (jenny) and married Gloria Steinem.

Update: Christian Bale has turned himself into police voluntarily in response to the domestic assault charge.He went to Belgravia police station in central London earlier today and is still there, being held in custody.

When asked if Bale had been arrested, a police spokesman said “A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He currently remains in custody.”

His family is not talking, which is a good thing right now.
Balthazar Getty confirms the obvious (he’s split from wife)

Heir and actor Balthazar Getty has confirmed to People Magazine that he has split from his wife Rosetta, amid rumors he is having an affair with actress Sienna Miller, which first broke here on June 29th..
Balthazar appears on ABC’s Emmy Award-winning ‘Brothers & Sisters’, and is heir to the oil fortune of his great-grandfather Jean Paul, once one of the richest men in the world. He was recently photographed frolicking on a yacht off Italy’s Amalfi coast with a topless Miller earlier this month (Jul08), just days after he denied he was romantically involved with the Alfie star.
But Getty, who has four children with Rosetta, says the photographs have forced him to admit he and his wife are living apart.
In a statement released on Monday, he says, “The breakdown of a marriage is a very difficult and painful experience especially when children are involved.
“In light of the fact that many pictures have surfaced in print and on the Internet which has caused myself and my family great embarrassment, I felt it necessary to at least acknowledge publicly that, yes indeed my wife and I have separated and I will not be commenting any further.”
Eminem and Kid Rock challenged to square off in Detroit rap battle

Detroit, Michigan rap stars Eminem and Kid Rock have been challenged to a freestyle rap battle, which could pocket their chosen charities $1m.

The offer/publicity comes from the producers of new movie Rap Therapy, which chronicles one Detroit social worker’s efforts to use hip hop to help steer troubled teens away from gangbanging, drugs and violence. The documentary Rap Therapy features footage of 50 Cent, Diddy, Anne Hathaway, Fergie and Tom Cruise (interesting), talking about the benefits of hip-hop as a tool for kids involved in gang violence and abuse.

The rap challenge will officially be launched in Detroit on Tuesday.

Blake LeVine, the subject of the film Rap Therapy, says: “It will be a televised rap battle and the winner will pick up $1m (€630,000) for the charity of his choice.”
Peaches Geldof overdoses on drugs?

Sir Bob Geldof’s troubled daughter Peaches had a suspected drug overdose on Sunday. Ironically Peache’s mother, British TV presenter Paula Yates, died of a heroin overdose in 2000 at the age of 41.
19-year-old Peaches was reportedly found lying unconscious in her north London flat by a friend who administered emergency CPR and called emergency services. Peaches apparently refused to go to hospital for a medical examination - because she was terrified her rocker father finding out about this new drug scare.
A source tells the UK Sun, “Peaches could not breathe for several minutes after suffering a respiratory arrest. “If she had not received this she could have died or she could have suffered brain damage. Peaches had gone into respiratory arrest, in which a patient’s breathing stops but heart doesn’t.” A spokesperson for London Ambulance confirms its crews attended the scene.
Earlier this year, Peaches hit the headlines after she was caught on tape reportedly buying drugs. She escaped police charges because of a lack of evidence.
