Welcome to 2008! We’re still recovering from our holiday-induced coma, but to get things back up and humming here on the ‘razz, let’s jump in with some tasty appetizers to get the New Year cruising…
Rocker Eve has joined the long list of performers with backstage demands. But unlike Jennifer Lopez’s requests for “all things white” or Beyonce’s needs for “juicy baked chicken legs heavily seasoned with fresh garlic, seasoned salt, and black and cayenne pepper,” the rider for Eve states “there be no use of Styrofoam or plastic goods, no leather furniture, and only recyclable materials.” Damn. That’s beautiful. [via page six]
Daryl Hannah has been so overwhelmed by inquiries over the sale of her “badass” biodiesel El Camino that she’s decided to put the car up for auction. Starting January 7th (no link yet), you’ll be able to hit eBay and take a stab at owning this black beauty. Hannah also wanted to point out that besides the diesel engine, the car also comes with “automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, electric windows and cruise control.” [via dhlovelife]
We wrote about Ed Begley Jr. doing some eco-DIY videos for Home Depot a few months back — and then completely forgot to update on the latest additions. So, if you have a moment — and home improvement is on your list of 2008 to-dos — check out Ed teaching you how to create compost, make your home draft proof, and install a water-saving, low-flush toilet. Handy. [via pardon our dust]

“I know 2008 will bring all your wildest dreams. 2007 was an interesting year for me. What’s the definition of insanity? This is the year I do everything I wanted to do – my way. First off, Merry Christmas to everyone! If you’re not the December 25th celebratin’ sort, my best wishes as well for whatever festive engagement you’re enjoying this time of year. While some of you are busy opening holiday gifts, you might want to start next year’s list early since…

It’s not often that Jack Nicholson does interviews. As it is, the guy only agrees to make one film per year. His annual entry this year is

“My children are perfect, and you think, ‘How can I help sustain their state of bliss and progress?’ And really beating up the planet the way we have is not going to do that. I drive a biodiesel car. I try to set goals that are achievable and then once we get those down, find some more goals that are achievable and keep going a little bit, as opposed to saying, ‘I am going to be completely waste-free in my house’ and all this kind of stuff. It’s just a little bit at a time. And if we all did a little bit at a time, it would just be so impactful.”
A couple weeks ago, images leaked from the set of the Sex and the City film with Kim Cattrall’s character, Samantha, upset over red paint thrown on her white fur coat. The scene had some unnamed off-screen organization dousing the actress and decrying the use of animal pelts. Amazingly, four separate fur coats were required to shoot that one scene!

“In the UK, we’ll soon have to scramble for more nuclear power. On this issue, I don’t care what anyone says: we’re going to go with it, big-time. We may mess around with wind and waves and other renewable energy sources, trying to make them sustainable, but they’re not. They’re Mickey Mouse.”
