Kelsey Grammer appears to be on the road to recovery after a recent heart attack. Just weeks after he suffered a near-fatal heart attack at the end of May, the actor was taken to a hospital in the city on July 27th, after feeling faint. The 53-year-old was finally able to check out of hospital after doctors altered the medication he was on, and his spokesman told reporters the star was soon “feeling great”.
Grammer has now reportedly returned to work on the latest advertisement for soft drink Dr. Pepper. Kelsey will reprise his beloved role of Dr Frasier Crane for the commercial shoot, which will air later this year.

Actress Christina Applegate revealed this past Tuesday that she had both breasts removed after being diagnosed with cancer last month. Undaunted she will continue shooting her TV series “Samantha Who?” as she undergoes reconstructive breast surgery following a double mastectomy.
The 36-year-old actress is scheduled to undergo reconstructive surgery over the next eight months.
A spokesperson for Applegate insists she will be “on a normal shooting schedule,” adding that the procedure “is not affecting production.”
Christina has already completed filming five episodes for the upcoming season of her hit comedy show before stopping for a summer break at the end of June.
An ABC spokesperson confirms: “They’re on a scheduled hiatus and she’ll be back next month. It’s business as usual.”
Christina is also set to appear during the live “Just Stand Up” special to benefit cancer funding, which will air simultaneously and commercial-free on CBS, ABC and NBC, on September 5th.

Annie Lennox faces a long road to recovery from recent back surgery. Doctors determined Lennox was suffering from an impinged nerve and would need to undergo surgery to recover. The former Eurythmics singer was in Mexico earlier this month (Aug08) when her back “went into a spasm” and she was jetted back to her home in England.
She tells that: “I could only drag my leg around the house. Something told me urgent action was required.

“I had micro surgery on Friday morning. This is the fifth time I’ve gone under the scalpel and each time I think it’s miraculous. I can now walk again slowly, without the drag, but it’s going to take at least six months of physiotherapy before I start to walk more normally again.”

As we reported last night, Christina Applegate appeared on breakfast show Good Morning America this morning, and as expected announced she is “100% clear and clean” of breast cancer. What we didn’t know last night was what type of procedure she had. Unfortunately Christina had to have a double mastectomy. She opted to have the surgery after testing positive for the BRCA1 breast/ovarian cancer gene, even though the disease was contained in one breast. Her mom is also a breast cancer survivor. Christina told told reporter Robin Roberts (another breast cancer survivor) that when she was told she had breast cancer:
“I was just shaking and then also immediately, I had to go into ‘take-care-of-business’ mode.
“After looking at all the treatment plans that were possibilities for me, the only one that seemed the most logical and the one that was going to work for me was to have a bilateral mastectomy.”
Christina will undergo reconstructive surgery in the next 8 months and is keeping a great attitude.
“I am going to have cute boobs until I am 90. I am going to have the best boobs in the nursing home.”
Christina is scheduled to appear on a one-hour TV special, called Stand Up to Cancer, to be aired on ABC, CBS and NBC on 5 September to raise funds for cancer research.

Patrick Swayze (the ‘miracle’ man) smiled at onlookers as he arrived, with wife Lisa Niemi, on the Chicago set of his new TV show The Beast.
The Dirty Dancing star was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January and reports said he had just weeks to live.
Since then he is thought to have undergone new Cyberknife radiotherapy since at California’s Stanford University Medical Center.
And he recently described his survival so far as ‘a miracle.’ Fewer than one in 20 people with pancreatic cancer survives for five years — but that can rise to a quarter if it is caught early.

Remember a while back (seven weeks ago) that actor Kelsey Grammer was reported to have had a mild heart attack? Well that’s what we were lead to believe because his spokesman Stan Rosenfield said it was a mild heart attack but declined to give further details of Grammer’s condition or medical treatment. Well the apparent truth was Kelsey nearly died from that heart attack last month, and his heart actually stopped. The Frasier star told Entertainment Tonight, that it started when he felt chest pains while paddle-boarding with his wife in Hawaii, where they have a second home, and was taken to hospital, where he was found to have suffered a heart attack. He told the news program in an interview to be aired on Thursday evening:
“They had to blast me twice and get me started all over again. I did think: ‘Oh gosh, I have got to hang on. I’ve got too much junk I’ve got to take care of. I’ve got to take care of the family.
Grammer, who stars with Kevin Costner in the political comedy “Swing Vote” that opens August 1, said it felt “like somebody was actually trying to tear my chest apart with, like, the jaws of life.”
Grammer’s heart attack came three weeks after he learned that Fox network was canceling his sitcom “Back to You,” in which he played a pompous, womanizing TV news anchor opposite Patricia Heaton. The series lasted only one season.
“Obviously you play the hand you’re dealt, and it has been a very interesting hand lately; it has been tough,” he said.

Heather Locklear has reportedly completed her stint in rehab at Sierra Tucson in Arizona, supposedly for anxiety and depression.
We say supposedly because a source with connections to the center (Sierra Tucson) treating Locklear, told InTouch Weekly, that she was being treated for alcohol and prescription-pill dependency.
Heather was supposedly driven all the way from LA to the Arizona facility by boyfriend and Melrose co-star, Jack Wagner, to keep her admission to rehab a secret.
In any case the actress spent four weeks receiving treatment and is now currently home in Los Angeles and is said to be looking radiant.

The original lead singer of disco-era band the Village People, Victor Willis, was released from a San Diego hospital on Monday after vocal cord surgery and said he could resume singing within months.
Willis, who originally dressed as a policeman, wrote and sang hits such as “Y.M.C.A” and “Macho Man,” but he left the group in 1980. He returned only for a short time between 1982 and 1984, and since then has pursued a solo career.
“I feel great and look forward to performing before the end of the year, but I can’t say for sure,” Willis said in a statement after his release from the hospital after the operation to remove nodules from his vocal cords was performed.
His doctors have told him he cannot sing for 90 days, but he has resumed talking, and his speaking voice “sounds almost normal,” his spokeswoman Linda Smith, said.
The Village People originally formed in 1977, and the group has sold more than 80 million albums and singles.

Jamie Lee Curtis has opened up about about her addiction to painkillers as she battled to stay young nearly 10 years after the fact.
Now 49, Jamie told More magazine she became hooked on painkillers following cosmetic surgery on her eyes when she was 35.
Curtis said of hiding her dependency from her family “no one knew,” including husband Christopher Guest. The actress abused drugs to get high and to combat “loneliness,” she says, and drank heavily at times for years.
Curtis says her addiction was so bad that she even stole pills from her sister, who, at the time, was recovering at the actress’ house from a broken bone.
Curtis blames her dependency issues on the pressure she felt to stay young and thereby viable as an actress in Hollywood:
“I attempted various types of plastic surgery, minutely but enough to stave off this encroaching middle-aged body. And every time I did, something went wrong. I felt misshapen, just not natural any more. I think it was a big stimulator of my drug abuse.”
Curtis says she finally kicked the habit nine years ago after worrying how her addiction would affect her daughter, Annie.
Curtis in her day was known as The Body - hers having been on display in 1983’s Trading Places and 1985’s Perfect. But now she has left her quest for perfection behind and as part of her recovery, she let her hair go grey and stopped wearing high heels. Curtis now works as a volunteer on anti-drug campaigns.
