Colin Farrell talked about his substance abuse issues on BBC’s Friday Night with Jonathan Rosshad. The Irish actor admitted he had “no choice” but to kick his alcohol addiction because it would have killed him.
Colin started drinking at a young age and became heavily dependant on the bottle in the early days of his career. But he decided to quit alcohol in 2006 when he realised how deadly his addiction had become. He left rehab in January 2006 and says he has given up drinking completely, adding:
“for me there’s no choice to be honest with you. I was pretty sick. I’d been fairly drunk or high since I was 14. It was a tough life change but I was dying and I’m one of the lucky ones who so far has got out of it. The first three months were a nightmare. I was struggling to keep my s**t together a lot of the time. A lot of my energy was spent trying not to have a complete meltdown.”
Farrell also admitted not being able to remember huge parts of his life, as a result of the drink and drugs, during the last ten years of his life while still addicted. The actor checked himself into a rehab clinic treating addictions to recreational drugs and painkillers in December 2005 saying:
“The last ten years is pretty sketchy. The memories of all the stuff that happened when I was doing that stuff were taken. There’s just a gap, a void. Chunks of it are missing but I think I had a good time, an expensive time. I’m still paying for it.”
Colin also spoke out about the release of a private sex tape filmed with former girlfriend Nicole Narain in July 2005. The film was loaded onto a website named dirtycolin.com after falling into the wrong hands. The Irish hunk says he was offered cash to give permission for the film to be made available in hotels, but a Los Angeles judge issued an injunction barring the sale, distribution, or display of the tape. “The man in charge said I hope you’ve learned your lesson Mr Farrell and I said ‘absolutely, next time I’ll take the tape with me’.”

X-Files actor David Duchovny has entered rehab to apparently get control of his sexual urges. David, who is famously married to Tea Leoni, has a sex addiction, according to his lawyer, Stanton Stein, who passed the following statement to People Magazine on behalf of his client. Duchovny says, “I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”
In one of those life imitating art situations, the 48-year-old, who wed actress Leoni in 1997, plays a sex-loving author in his raunchy hit U.S. cable show Californication. While people hardly blink an eye these days toward celebrities who check into rehab for drug and alcohol depression, this situation is likely to have pundits speculating and ridiculing. Frankly I feel to embarrassed right now for the family, to do either. Duchovny and Leoni have two children - Madelaine West, nine, and Kyd, six.

Andy Dick has checked into rehab, well, television rehab actually.
TMZ reports that Dick has joined the cast of “Sober Living.” I’m not sure, but I think this is a spin-off of Vh1’s “Celebrity Rehab.”
Dr. Drew is supposedly involved in “Sober Living” which will take a group of has-been and stick them in a Beverly Hills mansion without drugs or booze.
Sounds like a great script for a haunted house movie, but unfortunately it’s unlikely this cast is going to be killed off.
Dick will be paid for his involvement in the show. Basically, it’s “The Surreal Life” without alcohol.

Steven Tyler elaborated on his recent rehab stay Friday night at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, where he and bandmates were promoting “Guitar Hero 3: Aerosmith.”
If you recall, Tyler released a statement in late May saying he checked into a rehab facility in search of a “safe environment” to recover from several foot surgeries and physical therapy. Tyler said the procedures were to correct longtime foot injuries resulting from his physical performances as the singer for the blues-rock band.
But the Aerosmith frontman now admits that he sought the “safe environment” of rehab last month to recover from more than just surgery, saying he was fighting a dependency on pain and sleep medication. Tyler told The Associated Press:
“To have your feet done, to have your leg done, you have to be on narcotics,” “You have to be on sleep aids at night. I don’t know about Joe (Perry) but I was off and running and I didn’t like the me that was me. This was a month ago, so I just put the brakes on and checked into detox and just pulled the plug on all of it.”
Smart move on Tyler’s part to nip it in the bud before it got out of control! Sometimes wisdom does come with age and experience.

The latest celebrity to enter treatment is Heather Locklear. People Magazine reports the Melrose Place alum is seeking treatment for psychological issues at a center in Arizona.
Locklear’s, Cece Yorke, has confirmed the news: “Heather has been dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility for proper diagnosis and treatment. This is a confidential medical matter and no further statement will be released.”
Heather started taking meds in 2006 after she divorced Richie Sambora. This past March, a friend called 911 because they were afraid Heather was suicidal.
No shame in seeking treatment. It’s actually the sane thing to do. That’s why it’s so hard to get the people that desperately need it like Amy Winehouse to see the light.

Larry King’s much younger sixth wife has checked herself into rehab for an addiction to painkillers according to the NY Post. 48-year-old Shawn Southwick King has been married to 74-year old Larry King for 10 years. They have two children together ages 8 and 9.
A friend of Larry’s said, “Shawn is in rehab for medication issues related to her chronic migraine problem.” Shawn did a lot of TV acting work before marrying Larry and was the host of “Hollywood Insider” on the USA Network during the 1980s.

VH1’s terribly hard to watch reality show Celebrity Rehab is gearing up for season two. We all had so much fun watching Mary Carey, Brigitte Nielsen, Daniel Baldwin, and Seth from Crazy Town dealing with thier addictions and pissing off drug counselor Shelly daily, that VH1 is doing it again.
We all know that season two is always better on a celebrity reality show. We always get a more interesting group of celebs the second time around after the first group has humilated themselves for a little change. From the sounds of it, season two of Celeb Rehab with Dr. Drew Pinsky is gearing up to do just that.
So far they have confirmed Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss, pop star Aaron Carter and Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach. Still unconfirmed is Dennis Rodman but most predict he will be gladly joining the cast at Dr. Drew’s Pasadena treatment center.
We are pyched for season two, but honestly is anything gonna top watching Jeff Conaway and Jessica Sierra puke for three straight days as they go through withdrawal?
