A very hairy George Clooney was spotted displaying his athletic prowess during a game of basketball on the set of the new movie “Men Who Stare at Goats” in New Mexico on Wednesday (November 19).
Showing off his skills, the former “ER” hunk played some pick-up ball with the crew during a break from filming, which is taking place at the New Mexico Military institute in Roswell.
The only thing better than a celebrity is a crazy celebrity. Granted, there aren’t a lot out there. There are some quirky folks, but the true crazies rarely become famous. Unless you are George Clinton. Or his clone. Clinton says he’s having his DNA saved so he can be cloned one day. A little unusual, but acceptable nonetheless. But he goes beyond quirky when he says that humans have been cloned for “thousands of years.” It has something to do with the pyramids.
FUNK-tastic George Clinton is storing his DNA so he can be cloned one day. The Parliament-Funkadelic frontman tells Details magazine that cloning has actually been going on for thousands of years.
“Cloning - we got generations of that [bleep],” Clinton said. “The pyramids? They was for cloning. That’s why embalming lasts so long. Get the DNA and pull ‘em back. So somebody been cloned already, but not me. Not yet.”

Um…. Yes. I tried to think of a nice, “Maybe he meant _____” angle to take, but it’s hard to ignore the obvious crazy going on here. And I mean crazy in the beloved way, not the judgmental way. I think it’d truly be a kick in the pants to spend an afternoon chatting up George Clinton. You’d probably hear more unusual/nonsensical things in a few hours than most people hear in a lifetime.
I’m surprised there’s nothing about aliens. Everyone knows that’s where cloning really comes from. Or Xenu, I forget how it works. I guess it might theoretically be possible to clone from mummy DNA. There are plenty of things people call impossible that, given enough time, get done. But it’s hard to tell by his phrasing if Clinton is implying the ancient Egyptians have been cloned for “generations”… or just that it’s possible. Either way I’m glad he’s saving his DNA because I would never want to deprive future generations of a cloned George Clinton.

“The whole thing makes me feel badly. The poor man, there’s such a sickness there. It’s so patently obvious that there’s a psychosis there. I don’t know what his original thing about me was; I have no idea. I didn’t read his book that was printed many years ago but apparently I didn’t let somebody have a close -up.
“I literally don’t know him. I didn’t know him very well on the series; he’d come in for a day or two… but he’s continued to speak badly about me for all these years. You’d think there would be an epiphany at some point where George might have said, ‘Poor Bill Shatner, he is such a lonely, desperate, unhappy man that he did all these terrible things to me…’ when I said hello or something… but instead what he does is he makes this big deal about not inviting me to his wedding.
“There must be something else inside George that is festering, and makes him so unhappy that he takes it out on me, in effect a total stranger.
“It’s sad the man can’t find enough peace in his life to either be positive and say ‘I forgive him for whatever those hurts were,’ or to shut up about it… I feel nothing but pity for him.”

This is the official end of the Bush Administration. Yes, he'll hang around the Oval Office for another couple months, but it's over. It's done. Everyone get to work on your obits! What happened today that finally signaled the end of the era? Bush surrendered, completely, to the reality-based community.
Ron Suskind, whose work chronicling the Bush administration has basically been the best political journalism of the last eight years, is responsible for that legendary phrase. In a 2004 piece for the New York Times Magazine, Suskind quoted an unnamed Bush aide (Rove?) as saying this:
The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."
That is basically the mission statement of the Bush presidency. Let the political wing dictate policy, and fit the facts around that policy. Deny the legitimacy of information that doesn't fit your worldview. Create your own reality! It's been fun. It got us into Iraq!
And the financial bailout bill was originally sold in the same way Iraq was sold. The problem was laid out along with its solution. The solution was needed urgently. The solution involved handing over unprecendeted power to the executive branch without oversight. Experts disliked this plan!
So Congress, which is now controlled by Democrats, actually sort of did part of its job, and passed a modified, more responsible version of the bill.
And now, weeks later, Bush has done something weird and unprecedented: in calling for nationalization of US banks, Bush has actually given in to "experts" like economists who called on him to do something that didn't fit with his political ideology!
And it only took him eight years to become a vaguely semi-responsible president. Good work, reality-based community! You really asserted yourselves there, eventually, after the damage was already wrought.
Boy George once asked Do You Really Want To Hurt Me? And I guess his fan in the Hampshire decided to do just that after only 89 of them decided to buy tickets to his show at the 2,200 seater Portsmouth Guildhall according to Yahoo! Music. Needless to say he had to cancel the gig due to poor tickets sales. Major ouch!
Salma Hayek settles into recurring TV Role
Salma Hayek has landed a juicy role on another Thursday-night series. Hayek has been confirmed for a recurring role on NBC’s Emmy-winning 30 Rock, (on set above with baby Valentina and Alec Baldwin) playing no less than former GE exec Jack Donaghy’s new love interest. Hayek says in a statement:
“I have been a fan of [30 Rock exec producer] Tina [Fey]’s talent, both as an actress and a writer, since working with her years ago on SNL.” ” I am so excited to be part of such an intelligent, funny show, as well as working with the brilliant Alec Baldwin and the rest of the cast of 30 Rock.”
Hayek produces and once guest-starred on ABC’s Ugly Betty.

Men Who Stare at Goats
The cast coming together for “Men Who Stare at Goats,” based on the book by Jon Ronson. The Iraq-set movie centers on a desperate reporter (McGregor) who stumbles upon the story of a lifetime when he meets a man (George Clooney) who claims to be a former secret U.S. military psychic soldier. Rebecca Mader, best known for playing scheming redhead Charlotte on ABC’s “Lost,” is in final negotiations to play Ewan McGregor’s wife. Clooney’s business partner Grant Heslov will direct, and will produce with the actor.
This was bound to happen. As we recently mentioned, Johnny Depp landed the ’sidekick’ role of Tonto in a new Jerry Bruckheimer remake of ‘the Lone Ranger.’ The fictional cowboy was invented for radio in the 1930s but is best known from the long-running 1950s TV serial, when he was played by Clayton Moore. The British tabloid The UK Sun claims that non other then George Clooney will play the Lone Ranger. Although the tabloid sounds pretty sure of this casting scoop, it’s also the typical ploy to speculate on high profile roles before they have been announced. Plus Clooney seems to cringe when anyone brings up his turn as Batman, so one wonders if he would play a masked super hero again. But an insider tells the tabloid: “George is very keen — he’s been trying to do a movie with Johnny for a long time.”
So there's been a lot written about George Clooney and "will he" or "won't he" (OK, most of the stuff has said he won't) return for an episode in the final season of "ER."
But lo and behold... it seems no one has even asked George if he wants to be on the show. Clooney tells Entertainment Tonight, "I've never been asked or approached by anyone from the show about doing an episode of ER."
Sounds like somebody's fishing for an invitation...
George Michael hearts crack
George Michael was arrested in North London late Friday after being caught with marijuana and crack cocaine. I guess that’s illegal or something in England. Prudes. The Daily Mail says:
George Michael has been cautioned for drug possession after being arrested at a notorious meeting place for gay men. The 45-year-old pop star was reportedly caught with a small amount of cannabis and crack cocaine on Hampstead Heath in North London. It is the fourth time in three years that the pop star has been arrested on drugs charges but until now he has been caught only with so-called soft drugs such as cannabis.
A source said: “George has always liked smoking a bit of dope and he’s taken it a bit too far sometimes but he’s never really gone much further. It’s pretty worrying.” (Source)
George Michael was arrested for the fourth time in three years at a “notorious meeting place for gay men”? It sounds like the guy wants to go to jail. And why shouldn’t he? Sentencing George to prison with a cellmate would be like punishing Lindsay Lohan by locking her in a brewery. It’d be a dream come true for the two celebrities . . . and in both cases, something would end up getting sucked dry.
George Michael was arrested with drugs (again) over the weekend, but this time he won’t face charges. Sad, old junkie George was busted in a bathroom (again) for allegedly possessing crack cocaine and weed. It’s unsure why he isn’t in more trouble since this is not his first offense and the Metropolitan Police Chief has a no tolerance policy on celebrities with drugs.
“We can confirm a 45-year-old man was arrested in the Hampstead Heath area on the 19th of September on the suspicion of possessing drugs,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said. “He was taken to a North London police station where he received a caution and was released with no further action. The caution was for the possession of Class A and Class C drugs, cocaine and cannabis.”
Although Sad old George issued the following statement to his fans and everyone else that is over his antics, I think all anyone really wants to know is ‘What it is with you and the public bathroom’s dude?”
“In a strange way I’ve spent the last 15 to 20 years trying to derail my own career, but it never seems to suffer,” he said. “I suffer like crazy. I’ve suffered bereavements and public humiliations, but my career always seems to right itself like a plastic duck in the bath.”

George Michael was arrested in a London public bathroom for alleged drug possesion according to the BBC.
"A 45-year-old man was arrested on 19 September on suspicion of possession of drugs in the Hampstead Heath area," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.
The singer was taken to a police station and given the caution for possessing class A and class C drugs.
You would think by now that George Michael would have learned that public bathrooms and him don't go well together!

Star Magazine must be making deals with a lot of celebrity publicists because they’ve sure been scoring the A-list interviews lately. A few weeks ago they seemed to have one of the first interviews with Jennifer Aniston in years. Their most recent issue features an original interview with George Clooney. Interviews with Clooney are a dime a dozen but still remain fun as anything to read. The 47 year-old star is promoting his new Coen brothers film, Burn After Reading, which also stars Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, and Tilda Swinton.It’s out in the US on September 12.
Clooney told Star pretty much what he always says to the same old questions people have been asking him for years about his personal life and lack of desire to have a family. He also made some funny quips about his co-star Brad Pitt and the fact that his Lake Como villa has become a tourist attraction. As for getting older, Clooney said he loves his wrinkles and gray hair because it gives him character and that he’s not about to get Botox. He doesn’t struggle with his fame, but admitted it kind of bothers him that people have preconceived notions about him:

But I just appreciate the way Italians enjoy life. We should all learn the beauty of the four-hour meal.Other than having your vacation home mobbed, how does your fame affect you?
I’m a pretty open guy, and I like meeting people. But it disturbs me a bit that there’s this whole image that people have of me in their heads that it takes a while to break down. And you usually don’t get that time unless you’re working with them.You’re 47 now. Does getting older bother you.
I don’t mind it a bit. I love my gray hair; I love the fact that my face has more of an edge and more character than it did when I was in my 20s and 30s. No Botox for me!

I get the impression that with Clooney what you see is what you get. With every interview I read, he gives consistent and low-key responses. He’s suave, funny, and in command, but he’s not misrepresenting himself or putting on airs. He knows his worth, yet he’s still willing to work for his hard-earned success. This is the guy who did over two hours worth of interviews on the red carpet at the Oscars this year. I saw him talking to a German interviewer who was asking very in-depth questions and he was both patient and thoughtful in his responses. He’s a bit of a cad, but he’s a loveable one and he’ll have fans for years to come.

Doing her best to avoid an embarrassing parking ticket (especially with the paparazzi watching), Heidi Klum was spotted plunking a few coins into the parking meter on her way to her hair appointment.
The “Project Runway” babe looked summertime sexy as she made her way to the Neil George Hair Salon in Beverly Hills, California, sporting a black baggy off-the-shoulder blouse, a pair of belted distressed jeans and sandals.
The NY Post’s Page Six, a reliable source for gossip tidbits, had some not so nice things to say about George Clooney’s ex girlfriend Sarah Larson. The newspaper pointed out that Clooney had tried to help jump start Larsen’s modeling career before dumping her. On the other side, Page Six claims Larson was not faithful to Clooney. A source said that while she was with Clooney, she “came to Vegas for a weekend and cheated on him with a media mogul.
Source or not, that’s pretty hard to believe!
And now With Clooney out of the picture, Sarah has allegedly moved on to dating some small-time Las Vegas promoter who goes by the name of Joey Vanas. The paper describes this turn in Larson’s dating life as going from a “hero to a zero.” Pretty cruel commentary but going from George Clooney to just about anyone else is sort of a step down though, in most peoples eyes.

The “Oceans Eleven” co-stars were accompanied by directors Ethan and Joel Coen, as well as co-stars Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton to the Sala Grande.
George Lucas and the stars of his latest film attend the U.S. Premiere of Star Wars The Clone Wars. This animated version of the Star Wars franchise is directed by Dave Filoni. The actors from the live version of the film did not return due to cost and scheduling conflicts. The only actors who did return to lend their voices to their characters are Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu), Christopher Lee (Count Dooku), and Anthony Daniels (C-3P0).

Clooney, 47, was accosted by the enthusiastic fan in Portofino, Italy on Saturday. He was out riding with his friend, Manuele Malenotti, who is the creative director of Belstaff, an Italian clothing company.
The two rode their motorcycles along the coast together on Saturday. They were seen relaxing on a boat off the Elba Isle in Tuscany on Sunday. Clooney lounged around, read the paper and enjoyed some wine. Looks like a nice life except for the stalking photographers.

Still looking fabulous in a swimsuit at the age of 42, Cindy Crawford was all about showing off her bikini bod on George Clooney’s yacht in Sardinia, Italy on Tuesday.
The supermodel and her husband Rande Garber have been the guests of their “Ocean’s Thirteen” stud host all week, as they’ve tooled around the Mediterranean Sea in his luxury yacht.
Enjoying a beautiful sunny southern California afternoon yesterday, Hilary Duff was spotted grabbing a quick cup of coffee in Studio City before making her way to the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills.
And the “War, Inc.” stunner was looking summer sexy in a blue and grey tank top teamed with a pair of white trousers and light brown heels as she chatted away on her mobile phone.
George Clooney’s ex, Sarah Larson, is making the PR rounds to let everyone know just how awesome she is, just how great her life is going, and how she’s still good friends with George. Not to sound too cynical, but I don’t believe a word of it. It’s definitely more dignified to go this route than trying to drag the person through the mud, so I give her points for trying. I just don’t think it’s true.
Actor George Clooney certainly knows how to stay on good terms with his exes, if a new interview with Sarah Larson is anything to go by. Clooney split with the former cocktail waitress in May after a year together. But if anyone expected her to be bitter about losing her grip on Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, think again.
“George is a great guy, a wonderful person. I don’t regret spending time with him and he’s a great person to get to know. We still remain friends and have kept in touch. In fact, we spoke over the phone a couple of days ago. He’s fun to be around, down to earth, laid back, funny and smart,” she gushed to Hello! magazine. And the Ocean’s Eleven star is apparently a man of hidden talents. “Most people know George has a great sense of humour and is an adept storyteller, but I will always miss his extraordinary dance moves,” Larson said.
Thanks to their relationship, however, she is now moving on to bigger and better things. “I have a lot of great opportunities, doors that have opened, and I have no complaints. I make good money. I have a house. I have all the things I’ve always wanted. I’m in a good place,” she said.
I’ve had some amazing offers come in, including one modelling campaign that may bring me to England soon. I can’t talk about it yet because it’s not a done deal. I hope it happens because I’ve never been to England and I’d love to spend some time there. If I do end up there I could find a nice British boy. I’d be open to the idea. I hear they have a good sense of humour.”

It sounds like Sarah is appreciative of the good things her relationship with George brought her, but I can’t imagine her possibly being so cool with him. But if she really is, then good for her. She is strikingly beautiful; hopefully she’ll be able to parlay her exposure into some kind of career. Not that eating bugs on Fear Factor wasn’t a good gig. It just wasn’t long-term.

George Clooney just gave a pretty funny interview to In Touch magazine, in which he talked about the pressures of being as high profile – and damn sexy – as he is. And he admitted that looking like George Clooney takes a lot of work – but he’s happy to do it.
Do they [George’s friends] ask you for advice?
Mostly the usual stuff. What does it take to appeal to women?What’s your reply?
I can only talk about my own experiences. With me, it’s the hair. If you have beautiful and strong hair, then you’re successful with women.So you wouldn’t be sexy bald?
In the case of hair loss, it’s all over.How long does it take you to get dressed?
I spend at least three or four hours a day in the bathroom. Being sexy day and night is a big responsibility. And I like taking it!

George also pulls a John Mayer and says that his player reputation is undeserved. And he notes that while he was quick to always profess his hatred of marriage after his divorce, it never even occurred to him that he might have a problem with commitment. Clooney also says that he hasn’t dated nearly as many women as he’s been linked to by the press.
Still, he insists he’s capable of settling down. “For a long time I took every chance to say that I was not going to marry again,” says George, who divorced actress Talia Balsam in 1993. “So I became very careful after a failed marriage. But am I afraid of committing? It’s never occurred to me.”
So you’re not anti-marriage?
What do people say: A good wife at the cooker is worth gold!What’s it like being one of Hollywood’s biggest playboys?
I’m not a playboy. If I had been with all the women that I was said to have been with, I wouldn’t have had the time to shoot one single movie.

I don’t know if I quite buy all of that, but I don’t think George discards women nearly as quickly – or as easily – as a lot of men in Hollywood. I’m sure there’s plenty out there that go through women much faster than they can possibly be linked to, even by the aggressive press. Ever since he broke up with Sarah Larson, George has had to defend his lifestyle and relationship choices quite a bit in the media. I’d say “poor guy” or something like that – but clearly he’s still doing fine. And just working on maintaining his sexiness.

Gender-bending 80s singer and DJ Boy George, 47, was denied a visa to the US as he awaits trial in England. George planned to tour the US this summer and will have to stay put in the UK instead. George has been denied a visa due to a pending trial for false imprisonment charges.
In April, 2007 Norwegian prostitute Auden Carlson, 28, met George on Gaydar.com and agreed to come over to his London place to pose for erotic photos at a rate of $800. Carlson says that George and another guy took photos of him in fetish gear, and when the other guy left George handcuffed him to a hook on the wall, menacingly brandished sex toys and said “now you’ll get what you deserve.” Carlson escaped and called the cops, and it’s unclear if he got what George said he deserved, if he escaped unscathed, and/or if he got the cash he was promised for the photo session.
George will be tried for that case in Britain on November 22. He also has a criminal record in the states after he pled guilty to cocaine possession in NY. Police found 13 bags of the stuff when responding to a burglary call at his place in October, 2005. George said the drugs weren’t his and that a lot of people were in and out of his apartment, but he eventually copped a plea in exchange for community service and a stint in rehab.
