David Hernandez, the Arizona stripper who was plucked from obscurity when he made it onto American Idol is now in NYC hoping to find his big break on Broadway now that his stint on the reality television talent show has ended.
When chatting with TMZ, the booted Idol contestant joked that he was trying out for role for a show that he referred to as Lease. I guess only time will tell whether or not he's joking. In any case, he's still overjoyed that the paparazzi give a crap about him and I find that rather endearing.

I need to get to know these clowns since I'm going to be recapping the show starting next week. That chick with the two tone skunk hair is beyond gorgeous. There's not a Matt Reynolds to be seen, so who am I going to look at? Paula's drunk ass. Anyway, here's the final 12. Kady Malloy, Luke Menard, Asia'h Epperson and Danny Noriega all got bumped last night. Dry your tears.
In other Idol news, final 12 guy David Hernandez is avoiding speaking about reports that he was a go-go boy down at the gay bar. He allegedly performed as a nude dancer in Phoenix, Arizona at Dick's Last Resort. David told the press at the top 12 party last night that "I think America's judging us all off of our voices right now. Obviously they were, because I'm still in the Top 12, thank God. So I'm not really concerned with what's going on [with those reports]. I'm just focused on singing, because that's what I'm here to do." That would be a "yes, I showed my peen for ones." Anyway, who cares?

David Hernandez Probably Shouldn't Sing 'You Can Leave Your Hat On'

Photos: AP ImagesIt's been confirmed that by his former employer, that David Hernandez, "American Idol" hopeful, used to work at a male strip club in Phoenix. The manager of Dick's Cabaret, Gordy Bryan, said that the 24-year-old finalist from Glendale, Arizona, used to dance nude, as well as perform lap dances. According to Bryan, "He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here." Most of the customers were male and Bryan claims that Hernandez worked at the club consistently until September of last year. Rumors of David's stripper past first started circulating on the Internet at Vote for the Worst.com.
There's no word yet on whether or not this information will affect Hernandez's eligibility to continue to compete on the show, unless, that is, the music kicks in on stage and he finds himself doing what comes natural. It will all end with him collapsing on stage in a pile of tears and clothing sobbing, "It's all I know!"
