Ryan's dad's struggle with the disease is what inspired him to run the 26.2 mile race.

On Friday, he picked up his runner credentials and took part in a marathon press conference.

H.R. 534, the Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2003, was introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives on February 5, 2003. After discussion, it was passed on February 27 by a vote of 241-155. It now moves on to the Senate for consideration. This bill makes it unlawful for any person or entity to perform or participate in human cloning, or to ship or receive embryos produced by human cloning. The penalties are imprisonment of up to 10 years and fines of $1 million or more. These now join other nations as diverse as Norway, Australia, and Germany, which had already added cloning for any purpose to their criminal code. And in Germany where it carries a penalty of five years imprisonment they know a thing or two about unethical science.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds ran off and eloped over the weekend. And to be sure that their wedding ceremony was kept small and private they decided to tie the knot in the wilds of Canada.

The small wedding took place at a remote wilderness resort outside Vancouver. Guests included Scarlett’s mother, Melanie Sloan, and her brother, Adrian Johansson.

At first I thought the age difference was a little much, Scarlett is only 23 while Ryan is 31. But then I remembered that men are about 7-10 years behind women in maturity so it’s all good.

If you ever happen to run across Scarlett Johansson in public, whatever you do, don’t ask her to take a picture. Why? Because she’s a bitch. From the New York Post:

Scarlett Johansson wants everyone to know she’s not a tourist attraction. The actress and fiancé Ryan Reynolds hit the Lower East Side spot National Underground the other night “wearing matching bowler hats,” our spy said. Even though Johansson was “dressed down in a black blazer and jeans,” the doorman recognized her. Our spy said that “the doorman asked to take a photo with Scarlett” but that she snapped, “I’m not the Statue of Liberty,” before heading inside. (Source)

Scarlett’s right, she’s not the Statue of Liberty. She’s got huge tits, and that uppity bronze bitch is only an A or B-cup at best. Scarlett better realize pretty soon that as a celebrity whose only redeeming quality qualities are found in her bra, she better not start taking the public for granted. It's nice to see celebs working for a great cause and using their celebrity for good.

Instead of blogging about doing good, this big-boobied blonde is actually doing it!

Scarlett Johansson just returned from her first trip to Rwanda with (RED), whose primary objective "is to engage the private sector in raising awareness and funds for the Global Fund, to help fight AIDS in Africa."

The blonde humanitarian stayed four days and visited people and different projects benefiting from (RED) funds via the Global Fund into Rwanada.

ScarJo has been supporting the fight in Rwanda against AIDS and HIV for sometime now.

She said of her trip, "It was important for me to come here and understand the issue we're up against firsthand. It's not until you've had the privilege of meeting healthcare providers who are fighting the daily battle, heard from people who are now getting antiretroviral drugs to stay alive, and met mothers whose babies are born healthy because they received treatment that stopped transmission of HIV, that you understand that we absolutely can do something to reverse the AIDS crisis in African countries."

And while in Rwanda, ScarJo visited the Treatment Research and AIDS Clinic in Kigali where she met with doctors and patients at the facility. She also met there with Dr. Anita Asiimwe (pictured above), the Director General of TRAC, during her visit.

ScarJo then visited the Rural Health Clinic in Kabuga which provides HIV counseling and testing, as well as antiretroviral therapy.

In just two years, they've helped bring in over $22 million into Rwanda so far.

Woody Allen has created a monster. And her name is Scarlett Johansson. After appearing in Allen’s latest film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Johansson’s ego has exploded. From Page Six:

One well-placed source told Page Six that producers on Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Johansson’s latest Allen flick, have been grumbling that Scarlett isn’t the same . . . She’s turned into the biggest prima donna.” The source added that the same producers raved about working with her on Match Point, when “everyone said she was a sweetheart . . . now they say, ‘Scarlett’s let it get to her head.’ ” (Source)

Being Woody Allen’s muse hasn’t turned Scarlett Johanson into a prima donna. Her huge boobs have. Besides, young women that hang out with Woody Allen don’t typically feel better about themselves, they feel dirty. And I don’t know why 72-year-old Woody’s spending so much time with 23-year-old Scarlett anyway — she’s much too old for him . . . and not his daughter.

He’s worked with Diane Keaton, Dianne Wiest, Judy Davis and of course Mia Farrow, so Woody Allen must know talent when he sees it. However, in a recent press event promoting his new film, “Vicky Christina Barcelona,” the iconic writer/director gushes about current obsession Scarlett Johansson, calling her “one of the great American actresses.” Hmm. Did I miss something?

For years, Scarlett Johansson has been dubbed Woody Allen’s, muse and while the veteran director greatly admires his “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” starlet, he made it quite clear that Johansson is not his central source of inspiration.

“It is silly — she’s in no way my muse, but she is one of the great American actresses,” Allen said at the film’s recent Los Angeles premiere.

I have to disagree with Woody on this one. It’s not that I dislike Johansson - she’s a fantastic looking woman and seems like a nice person. However, in every movie, she has that same, blank-stare expression and monotone speaking voice. Sometimes, it works for her character, as it did in “Lost in Translation” and “Ghost World,” where she played disaffected young women. But in “Girl with Pearl Earring” and “The Other Boleyn Girl,” she seemed way out of her league acting-wise, with her mouth hanging open and a robotic line delivery that was just too distracting. Maybe Woody is seeing something I don’t. If anyone can clear this up for me, please do- I just don’t get all the praise for her acting.

Scarlett Johansson has a new interview in UK’s Hello! and she comes across as pretty fun and down to earth. We’ve had some debate here over whether we have too high expectations for celebrities. [thanks czarina] It’s like we expect them to look gorgeous, act well, and give witty and intelligent interviews and are let down when they only score on two out of three counts. 23 year-old Johansson definitely gives a good interview, though, and I found myself smiling at some of her answers. She still thinks she can sing so we know she’s not perfect at least:

What do you think of this whole debate about sexy vs. beautiful? How do you see yourself?
“Beauty is something you recognize in someone. I mean, you put on an outfit or whatever and you think, ‘Hey, I feel sexy’. But I think that it’s rare that you feel beautiful. I never really look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘I look really beautiful.’ I look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘Yeah! I look hot.’

“When you’re looking at yourself you see all your flaws and you think of them as being unattractive. But when you look at someone else, it’s the flaws that make them so beautiful.”

Johansson lost me when she started talking about flaws making people beautiful, that seems a little contrived, but I agree with her that you don’t consider yourself beautiful. You can feel sexy if you look good though.

Scarlet expresses gratitude for her success and realizes that she’s had it really easy compared to some of her friends in the business.

Do you consider yourself lucky?
“Damn lucky. [Smiles.] I certainly know that I have a chance that’s one in a million and a job that’s sort of disposable, and I feel lucky that I haven’t been found out.

“I constantly recognise my incredible luck and am reminded of it every day when I talk to friends who said that they waited three hours for a casting call and they got to the door and it was shut in their face… I was in the right place at the right time.

Does your success overwhelm you at times?
“No. My head is screwed on pretty good and I just take it as it comes, I suppose.

“I think it depends on where you come from and what kind of family you come from.”

How do you cope with it and stay so down-to-earth?
“I don’t know. Thank you for saying I’m down-to-earth because you really don’t know me. I could be just a total prissy loser. [Laughs.] But, you know, I guess I don’t adjust. That’s probably why I stay the same. [Laughs.]

Do you think that acting is harder for a woman?
“Oh, definitely. I mean, that’s a given. Women kind of wilt as men sort of achieve as they get older, like wine or whatever. It’s like, ‘Oh, she’s past her prime and she can’t play a sex symbol’… It’s just a preconceived notion about women in general and particularly in this industry. It’s a very vain, vain industry.”

Scarlett also says she hasn’t “even thought about” her wedding to her fiance, Ryan Reynolds yet. There are rumors that these two are having trouble because they haven’t been seen out together much lately, but they were just photographed kissing earlier in the week. They’re probably just a very private couple.

As we mentioned, Scarlett may be cool as hell but she’s not without her flaws. Her first album, a set of Tom Waits covers called Anywhere I Lay My Head, had a lukewarm reception, with many critics saying she can’t really sing. She says she “would love to do another album” when asked about it. She also has praise for the people she worked with and that “it was fantastic to not only live with that music I love every day, but to work with such wonderful musicians.” Scarlett adds that she would “like to focus on something to direct” next and that she first got the urge while making The Horse Whisperer at the age of 13.

The world is wide open for Scarlett, but maybe she should just focus on acting and not put out another CD. If there’s anything that could burst her well-deserved bubble I would have to say it’s her voice.

Scarlett Johansson has been bragging ’bout having a “personal dialogue” with Barack Obama. But the Presidential hopeful is downplaying his “email relationship” with the actress.

She told Politico: “You’d imagine that someone like the senator who is constantly traveling and constantly ‘on’ - how can he return these personal emails? But he does, and in his off-time I know he also calls people who have donated the minimum to thank them.”

But Mr. Obama goes on to distance himself more from ScarJo by telling reporters that she does not even have his personal email address, and that the one email communication between the two was forwarded to him by his assistant.

“she sent one email to [my assistant] Reggie [Love], who forwarded it to me. I [wrote] saying, ‘Thank you Scarlett for doing what you do,’ and suddenly we have this email relationship,” he explained.

Scarlett Johansson and Barack Obama are friends to the end. Apparently, Scarlett and our newest Democratic presidential candidate are e-mail buddies. Reports say that the two frequently exchange electronic communication. Oh shit, is Scarjo going to influence policy if he wins?

Scarlett is a tireless campaigner for Obama. She's appeared in viral videos for him, hosted fundraisers, and even joked to the press that they're engaged. Uh huh. Michelle Obama better take off her pumps and earrings and get ready to bust this big-tittied bitch's ass!

Scarjo does have her misgivings about how it could look for him.

"Even I'm wary of celebrity endorsements," Johansson she said on Friday. "I don't want to seem like I'm holier than thou. We all have the same right to vote and, especially in this technical age where we all can broadcast our opinions, we all have the opportunity to entice others to vote." But, she adds, "if the spotlight is on me, I might as well try to direct it on things and causes that I believe in."

The National Ledger is speculating that this is some kind of Marilyn Monroe/JFK thing, to which I say - HOT! This race needs some spice!

Oh, and if this means Scarjo's engagement to Ryan Reynolds is off, then I am more than available to be a shoulder for his rockhard abs to cry on.

One person noticeably absent from the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Woody Allen’s new flick Vicky Cristina Barcelona: star of the film Scarlett Johansson. After weeks of negotiations with Johansson’s reps that went nowhere, the French distributors of the film finally told her to stay home. The Daily Mail reports:

They were willing, and happy, to pay for flights, hotel, provide a limousine, arrange for designers to show her gowns and for her to share hair and make-up designers with Cruz and Hall. However, Johansson demanded her own exclusive make-up consultant at a cost of 5,000 Euros a day, which was felt a tad too much for a four day trip where looking after the star’s tresses and powdering her nose would cost a total of 20,000 Euros.

Then there was the problem over an hotel. The film’s director and his leading ladies were delighted to be staying in the centre of Cannes to make it easier for them to attend screenings, public events and to do interviews for TV and press. Johansson wanted to be at an hotel way out in the sticks, some 25 to 30 miles away. (Source)

What does Scarlett Johansson need with a personal make-up consultant? That chick looks better waking up in the morning* than most girls do for their wedding portraits. The real shame here is that Scarlett didn’t make a personal appearance in the one city on Earth built specifically for her: Cannes.

Scarlett Johansson is not just a pretty face. She’s a pretty face that’s a pain in the rear. ScarJo missed out the Cannes Film Festival premiere of her new Woody Allen movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona because she had so many diva-like demands. The studio tried to work with her but finally gave up and said ‘F-Off’ and left her at home.

The diva’s demands included first class travel accomodations to France, an usually high appearance fee and $5,000 a day for her own personal hair and make-up people. The studio was cool with all that, but the last straw was the fact that she demanded to stay at a hotel located more than a half-an-hour away and that would have created many delays in the film’s promotional schedule.

According to the Daily Mail:

Penelope and Rebecca were going to be working very hard and it wasn’t acceptable that Scarlett would be having to come in from that distance every day, most likely turning up late and it would have thrown schedules into a lot of confusion. Also, I think, while Woody’s terribly fond of Scarlett, he was a little upset that she wasn’t being a team player”, an executive connected to the film told the Daily Mail.

While Penelope Cruz bathed in the spotlight at Cannes, Scarlett Johansson was conspicuously absent from the premiere of their new Woody Allen film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, this past weekend in France.

Why was the newly engaged actress M.I.A.????

According to reports, ScarJo was demanding much more than the studio releasing the film was willing to spend.

Scarlett reportedly refused to stay at the same hotel as Cruz and Allen, and she also refused to share a makeup artist with Penelope.

Johansson was demanding her own exclusive hair and makeup people, which would have cost an additional $5,000 a day for her four-day stay.

ScarJo's decision to stay at a hotel 30 minutes away would have also likely caused many delays in the film's promotion schedule.

"While Woody's terribly fond of Scarlett, he was a little upset that she wasn't being a team player", says an executive connected to the film.

Who would pass up an opportunity to go to Cannes????
