He’s been a beacon in the fashion design industry for decades, and earlier today his partner Pierre Berge as well as 600 guests said goodbye to Yves Saint Laurent , who passed away this past Sunday due to a brain tumor.
The service was held at the Saint Roche Church in Paris, France and everyone who was anyone was in attendance, looking fabulous of course.
Yves Saint Laurent is one of the handful of designers that even your t-shirt wearing, football loving boyfriend has head of. The iconic French designer revolutionized fashion in the 60’s by putting women in pants while still making them look feminine. Yves had become quite the recluse since retiring in 2002, he passed away on Sunday at the age of 71.
During his farewell appearance seven years ago, Saint Laurent had told reporters he had “always given the highest importance of all to respect for this craft, which is not exactly an art, but which needs an artist to exist.”
In his later years the depression that had haunted him all his life became more oppressive, and at his farewell bash in 2002 Saint Laurent admitted to having recourse to “those false friends which are tranquillisers and narcotics.”
