It’s been a rough year for Britney Spears, but things are looking like they’re on the up and up. And come September 7th, she may be walking away from the MTV Video Music Awards with a Moonman.
But in order to do that, she’ll have to beat out the teen dreamhunks the Jonas Brothers, who are also nominated for the show’s most coveted title Video of the Year.
Out promoting their soon-to-be-released new album “A Little Bit Longer”, the Jonas Brothers were spotted paying a visit to MTV’s Total Request Live in New York City on Monday (August 11).
The teen hunks looked snazzy, with all three wearing ties, as they gave the two-thumbs up sign to photographers on their way inside TRL Studios.
"I've been warned when I'm presenting there are two things I am never allowed to say. One - cunt. And two - Scientology. There is one sentence that could join both of those words but I'm going to try and not say it. I have a problem when people tell me not to do something. When I was going to meet the Queen the protocol people told me how to bow, not to curtsy, not to speak until I was spoken to. But all I could think of was, 'Grab her tit'!"

Paris Hilton revealed in a new interview that she's working with former Marvel Comics chairman Stan Lee on a cartoon.
The heiress says the show is being developed for MTV and there's going to be a superhero version of the heiress in the toon!
We wonder what her super power will be???? In the past, Paris herself has said she'd like to have the superhero power of invisibility.
We bet the costume will definitely be pink!

Now we don't have to travel anywhere!
The awards, which will mark its 25th anniversary, will air on Sunday, September 7th.
This year, they'll be presenting awards from sound stages, city streets, and even rooftops.
In other words: they're trying to "mix it up" in an effort to goose ratings.
MTV will also also be counting votes from users online to help decide the nominees.
President of MTV Networks Music Group, Van Toffler, said in a statement, "With Paramount Pictures as the ideal setting, the glamour and musical heritage of L.A. are sure to be catalysts for creating explosive pop culture moments that the VMAs are known for."
This year might be a bit tough to follow after all the drama that went down last year!

The reason for her appearance is still unknown, although her experience with the network through her work on The Simple Life has led to rumors of possible talks for a new reality show.

As a prelude to Sunday night’s 2008 MTV Movie Awards, the cable music channel held the 7th annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan at the Saitama Super Arena on Saturday (May 31).
The show was hosted by award-winning performing artist Cyril, featuring performances by world class acts including Mariah Carey and Fergie.
MTV's animated 90's show Beavis and Butthead could be making its way to the big screen as a live-action feature, according to creator Mike Judge.
Judge recalls that at one point Johnny Depp wanted to play Beavis – with Marlon Brando as Butthead.
How insanely brilliant would that have been????
“For some reason, I used to hate the idea for years,” says Judge of a live-action Beavis & Butthead. "Now, I think maybe there’s something there.”
Two names being bandied about are Sean William Scott and Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder.
We're not sure about this idea. Sounds like it could be really bad…and dated.

Oh good Christ. The next season of The Real World, MTV's drunken, disease-riddled dinosaur of a reality series, (the 21st!) will be set in Brooklyn. The current season, which threw a bunch of damaged wannabe stars into a "green" sound studio in Hollywood, is getting annoyingly high ratings. So, the network has decided to sally forth with yet another installment, apparently continuing the smaller-part of an already done city trend, and will dump a bunch of yokels and rubes in our trendiest and irritatingest borough. Now, we don't know for sure which little enclave of Brooklyn the producers are thinking about, but we assume it's somewhere real and gritty, like off the Bedford L! Yes, it seems fairly inevitable that our broken Zelda Fitzgeralds will be plopped into some gorgeous crash pad in hipster Disneyland Williamsburg, but we have a better idea! Why, not the notorious Bushwick McKibbin dorms??
The two buildings of (mostly illegal) lofts, full of idiot kids in stupid pants and two olds, are renowned for their loud parities, ridiculous band rehearsals, and chewy chewy bed bugs. Wouldn't it be super to watch Amilynn from Ole Miss trying to nail some plywood together to create a bedroom? Or to gawk at troubled, angry water polo player Nickariah (from Duke) try to sex some girl who only eats tempe, cigarette butts, and old cans, like a common goat? That would be the real fake Real World. Plus then us quiet (read: scared) folk in the slightly sleepier neighbs wouldn't have to deal with camera crews crowding our most horrible bars. Are you listening MTV? Sell that tricked-out thing on North 8th! Pack your bindles and head on over to McKibbin.

As you know, we’ve been holding information sessions over the past several days to discuss our freelance and temporary employee benefits. We’ve had many insightful conversations and heard a number of your specific concerns.
As a result of the input you’ve given to us directly through the sessions and your managers, we want to announce the following changes:
· We are expanding our freelance and temporary medical and dental benefits options to include the United Healthcare plan under which many of you are currently covered. This means anyone who is eligible for benefits in 2008 can opt for medical and dental coverage with United Healthcare at the current rate of contribution, or you can elect instead to enroll in the newly offered Aetna plan.
The Aetna plan has certain advantages that may make it the preferred option for many of our freelance and temporary employees. Based on your input, however, we want to make sure that those of you who prefer the United Healthcare plan have that option.
· As a result of this change, the freelance and temporary employee payroll conversion to Cast and Crew has been delayed until February 1, 2008. Therefore, the December 14th deadline to submit your Cast and Crew paperwork has been postponed. We will inform you of the new deadline early in the New Year.
· We’ve implemented a process for evaluating freelance and temporary employee positions for possible conversion to staff positions. This process is currently underway and decisions will be communicated by January 31st, 2008.

Has MTV ever asked a guest to come be on their big NYE show two years in a row???
And, this year promises to be even better than last!
Not only did we demand more air time (diva) and got it, but there are going to be some truly awesome guests and performances, including Mary J. Blige, Kid Rock, Fabolous, Paramore, Good Charlotte, Wyclef, Boys Like Girls and Flo Rida.

Also, maintaining our title of Queen of New Year’s Eve, Perez is hosting the HOTTEST party in New York City on the 31st.

NEW YORK, December 12, 2007 – It will be a costume countdown unlike any other as MTV: Music Television announced plans today to ring in 2008 with the ultimate New Year’s Eve masquerade party. “Tila Tequila’s New Years Eve Masquerade 2008” will air live Monday, December 31st from 11:00pm ET to 12:30am ET in the network’s Times Square studio in the heart of New York City, the world’s most popular party playground. MTV “Shot At Love” star Tila Tequila (www.ashotatlove.mtv.com) will host the event alongside MTV VJs Damien Fahey and Lyndsey Rodrigues. As Tila hosts the ultimate New Year’s Eve party, some of the “Shot At Love” cast will stop by to help her celebrate, including the Season One winner of Tila’s heart and series favorite Domenico. Treated to the ultimate year-end bash, an audience masked in masquerade attire will rock out to house DJ Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes who will spin the year’s most popular tunes amidst hot performances by Mary J. Blige, Kid Rock, Fabolous, Paramore, Good Charlotte, Wyclef, Boys Like Girls and Flo Rida.
Adding to the excitement of the star-studded special, will be guest appearances by some of Hollywood’s biggest names including premier entertainment blogger Perez Hilton. Not one to miss the biggest party of the year, Perez will be on-hand to host his own purple carpet with celebrity interviews and will provide MTV viewers with commentary on celebrity rehab, 2007 breakups, plus some outrageous predictions for 2008.
Beginning December 21st, fans interested in getting the party started before New Year’s Eve can log onto MTV.com to check on new performers and guests as they’re added, watch special music video playlists featuring performer videos; and can view performances and photos from last year’s event. On show night, the MTV New Year’s Eve site will become a virtual party unlike any other providing fans with that night’s smash performances, show highlights and one-of-a-kind celeb photos straight from the studio.
Not content to keep the fun on-air and online, MTV Mobile will make select performances from the evening available through its carrier distribution partners. For the ultimate interactive New Years Eve experience partygoers will be able to play live with MTV’s HD Times Square Screen MTV 44 ½ by sending text messages, vote to influence the music videos that will be played; and test their music and pop culture know-how by answering trivia questions written specifically for the event.
To cap off the year with its trademark innovation, MTV held online contests in Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix and Austin in partnership with Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Cox Communications. Local music fans cast 3.4 million votes to help choose the one local band in each market that would come to New York City to have their very own video performance taped by MTV in Times Square. The winning bands’ videos will air live in their hometown during their respective local commercial break in the New Year’s Eve celebration. Following the on-air special’s broadcast their videos will be made available locally On Demand.
“Tila Tequila’s New Years Eve Masquerade 2008” is Executive Produced by Tony DiBari, Tim Healy and Karen Frank. Matthew Parillo is Executive In Charge of Production for the special and Tracy Hellerud serves as Producer.
Hundreds of employees at MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and all the Viacom properties walked out again on Tuesday.

Frustrated workers are protesting for benefits and health insurance for the “permatemps” that have been at the company in some cases for years and aren’t getting shit.
We’re told that protests will be happening in Times Square every day this week outside the TRL headquarters at 3 P.M.
We encourage EVERY single Viacom employee to walk out and support your colleagues this week. Remember when you were temping there for a year or two without benefits????
