Gwen Stefani is making good (finally) on her vow that No Doubt would record a new album and go on tour some day. Gwen has been busy making babies with Gavin, putting out her own albums and working on fashion projects. On their official website, they posted this picture above along with a little iChat conversation between the band members. The plan is that they are going to take their show on the road next year while working on their first album together in seven years. The last time they performed on stage together was in 2004, and the last studio album was 2001’s “Rock Steady.” No Doubt has been in the studio on and off throughout 2008, but Stefani’s participation has been limited of late, having given birth to her second son ‘Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale’ in late August.

The long-long wait for “Chinese Democracy” is over Now all 14 tracks of the long-anticipated album began streaming on MySpace.com Thursday. The CD goes on sale Sunday, but you can listen to all the songs online first. I am listening to a few of the tracks as I write and it sounds good but not up to were GNR was, when this all started. Recording began in 1994, when Guns N’ Roses was perhaps the best hard-rock band in the land, fronted by singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash. After myriad delays and false starts, Geffen Records announced in October that the album would be released Nov. 23. Some tracks leaked online in 2002 and two were released earlier this year: one in the “Rock Band 2″ video game and another in the film “Body of Lies.” On the new album, Rose is backed by an entirely new band and the songs don’t have that GNR balls out sound and are a bit over engineered.

Former Blink 182 band member Mark Hoppus, has revealed that the recent death of Blink producer Jerry Finn and Travis Barker’s miraculous survival of a plane crash has gotten the guys talking again.
There were hard feelings after the band’s break up in 2005 with Mark and Travis not really speaking with former 182 frontman Tom DeLonge since.
Hoppus said on his blog, “We’re just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking. It’s a good thing. Obviously the first question for a lot of people will be, ‘Does this mean a Blink-182 reunion?’ The answer is none of us know. We haven’t talked about it at all. Right now it’s just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect and let the past be the past.”
Tragic events have a way of healing old wounds, perhaps a step in the direction for a reunion tour?

Rod Stewart has confirmed that he’s ready to reunite with his 70’s rock band ‘The Faces’. Earlier this week Raygigs.com reported that Stewart and other original members Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones had booked a secret rehearsal slot next week to see if the band still had what it takes to launch a string of reunion shows next year (09). Stewart’s touring bass player is expected to complete the group, replacing late bassist Ronnie ‘Plonk’ Lane, who died in 1997. The band has previously reunited for a handful of one-off gigs - Wood and McLagan performed with Stewart at the Hollywood Bowl in 2004.
Scheduling problems between the members has hampered previous comeback plans - but Stewart has confirmed that this time (more than 30 years after the band split) the reunion is definitely on and a tour will happen, telling the UK Daily Mirror.
He says, “Yes, absolutely. We have our first rehearsal on Monday. It will be next summer and I am looking forward to it. It’ll be great.” And Stewart is certain that Wood’s recent break-up with wife of 23 years Jo won’t hold the star back from giving everything to the tour.
He says, “Ronnie is up for it. I think he feels great. He is full of energy and very excited. We try not to mix our family problems with work. I’ll see him Monday.”

Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard was twice bitten by a not so shy scorpion at a recent concert.
The lead singer was changing his clothes as he prepared to take to the stage in San Diego, California last week when he felt the venomous creature sting his leg twice.
Emergency services were quickly called to the scene as the stunned band members waited.
Bassist Nick Harmer took to his blog to tell the story, “So tonight in San Diego, Ben got stung by a SCORPION. Twice. I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried, file this under ‘Things that really happen on rock tours’.
“Ben’s okay, if not a little shaken, but we were worried for a while because the scorpion was a little guy and when it comes to the wonderful world of scorpions, the smaller the deadlier.”
And Harmer insists Gibbard may have benefited from the terrifying encounter - joking that the sting may allow his bandmate a ticket to be the next villain in Spider Man IV.
He says, “I’m still not convinced that he is 100 per cent fine because nobody eliminated the possibility that it was a radioactive scorpion and that Ben will now develop super powers, so I’m keeping a close eye on him just in case.”
Here’s my favorite Death Cab For Cutie song: Soul Meets Body

Red Hot Chili Peppers bass player Flea whose real name is Michael Peter Balzary, has enrolled as a freshmen at the University of Southern California in pursuit a degree of degree in music!
When asked why after years of success as a rock musician he felt the need to study Bach’s chorales and four-part harmonies, Flea said, “I studied music at the most remedial level when I was a kid, through the Los Angeles public schools, with a little private instruction. All my career, all that I’ve really done has been based on emotion and intuition and gravitating toward what sounds good.”
Flea says, he sees what concepts his band has been using all along. But now, learning the basic formations of chord progression and harmonies, he’s looking to expand himself as a composer and a musician.
Flea, knows the value of music in school. He started the Silver Lake Music Conservatory eight years ago after returning to his public high school and finding the music practice rooms neglected due to lack of funding.

Led Zeppelin (above) played their first concert in 19 years in front of nearly 20,000 fans at London’s 02 arena in December. Are they now going to create a new album?
Drummer Jason Bonham the son of original Zeppelin member, the late drummer John Bonham, reportedly told radio station 94.7 WCSX in Detroit, that some of his fellow band members have been in the studio. And that the songs could be destined for a new Led Zeppelin album. He told WCSX that writing new material has been “on the cards” since the band’s one-off reunion show in London
Led Zeppelin musicians Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones joined Jason in the studio. However lead singer Robert Plant has not been involved in any of the sessions yet. Jason said of Plant not being in on the sessions: “Lots of politics [would need to] get ironed out [before an album could be made].”
Inspite of that Bonham was excited and philosophical about the situation:
“At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material. When I get there [in the studio] I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me. It’s my life. It’s what I’ve dreamed about doing.”

A track from Whitney Houston’s new comeback album has been leaked on to the internet.
The eagerly-anticipated track - Like I Never Left - featuring R&B heavyweight Akon, made its way online this weekend. The legendary songbird hasn’t released a new tune since 2003’s “One Wish (for Christmas).” That is one long absence!
The song’s title ‘Like I Never Left’ is reportedly in reference to the diva’s absence from the music scene in recent years. Houston hasn’t released a track since 2003’s One Wish.
In the song, Houston tells her fans, “Yes, your girl is coming back”.
She made a triumphant return to the stage in London in May this year following a lengthy alleged battle with drug addiction and a messy divorce from longtime husband Bobby Brown. The singer’s new album is slated for release likely in the fall of this year (08).

The lead singer of the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, turns 65 on Saturday (today), making him an old-age pensioner, albeit in name only. Jagger is now entitled to a basic state pension of just under $180 a week. But Jagger continues to turn back the clock with age-defying live performances, recently impressing movie audiences with his energetic strutting and pouting captured by director Martin Scorsese in the 2008 rock documentary “Shine a Light.”
Although his private life antics no longer match the rock ‘n’ roll excess of fellow Stone Ron Wood, recently admitted to rehab for a drinking problem, Jagger is clearly not about to rest on his laurels.
He is increasingly involved in film production, acting as executive producer on “Shine a Light” and backing two other feature films since then. Rumors of a new Rolling Stones album and world tour also regularly surface in the news.
And now Vivendi’s Universal Music has reportedly signed an exclusive, long-term worldwide recording agreement with The Rolling Stones, in a deal that will be a blow to the band’s previous record company EMI. Universal, the world’s biggest music company, said the new deal covered future albums by the Rolling Stones and their catalog, including such albums as “Sticky Fingers” and “Black and Blue” and songs “Brown Sugar” and “Angie.”
Should Jagger’s estimated 225 million pound ($450 million) fortune, plus pension, prove insufficient, another tour would be a sure way of helping make ends meet.
The Rolling Stones’ last tour “A Bigger Bang” became the most successful of all time, grossing more than $558 million from 2005 to 2007, according to Stones tour producer Michael Cohl.

Fleetwood Mac is ready to move forward with a tour in early 2009 that will likely be followed by a new band album.
The Mac tour will come after band member Lindsay Buckingham who is releasing a solo effort “Gift of Screws” on Sept. 16 via Warner Bros., finishes his tour which, begins Sept. 7 in Saratoga, Calif.
Buckingham tells Billboard.com, “There was no sense we had to jump right in the studio. I think maybe there was even a sense that we would make a better album if we went out and hung out together first on the road … maybe even sowing some seeds musically that would get us more prepared to go in the studio rather than just going in cold. It takes the pressure (off) from having to go in and make something cold.”
Fleetwood Mac will convene in January to begin rehearsing for the tour, whose itinerary is currently being assembled. It will be the group’s first outing since promoting the “Say You Will” album in 2003 and 2004.
The recent rumors that Sheryl Crow will be joining the band is not going to happen after all.
Buckingham says of the matter “it kinda got out of hand,” though there were discussions between the Fleetwood Mac members and Crow. Ultimately, he says, the prospect “just kind of lost its momentum.”

It’s the beginning of a whirlwind few months for Vanessa Hudgens. And she’s been spending the week in New York City tending to her promotional duties.
Yesterday, the High School Musical cutie was spotted on her way to a photo shoot at the Pier 59 Studios in the Chelsea Piers district of Manhattan, following appearances on Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly.

She’s pregnant by a musician, and her adopted father is a singer, so why in the world wouldn’t Nicole Richie want a music career. Well, as it turns out, that’s exactly what she’s interested in pursuing.
In fact, there are reports that suggest that Richie has already been hard at work on her debut album. With a dad like Lionel Richie to advise her, perhaps Nicole will fare better than her Simple Life co-star Paris Hilton.
