After shopping at Barney's and Niketown in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon, we caught Patrick Dempsey cruising around town in his vintage Jaguar. McDreamy definitely still revs our engines!

A promotional photo from The Beast
It’s been eight months since Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and he’s returned to work and is talking like he’s in the clear, which is amazing. Since he was diagnosed I’ve lost two family members to the same cancer, which is well-know for having a very poor prognosis.
He’s given his first formal interview with the New York Times, talking about his new show The Beast.
“I do find myself, at the end of the day, riding home sort of catching myself with a smile on my face,” he said. “I’m proud of what I’m doing.”
The show, about halfway through its 12-episode order, is on schedule, said Bob DeBitetto, the president of A&E. Mr. Swayze, 56, said he had managed to put 20 pounds back on since the low point of his weight loss as he fought the disease, relying on “muscle-building shakes.”
So far, the production team reported, he has missed only a day and a half of work. Mr. Swayze said: “I’m still fine to work, I haven’t changed — oh, I have changed, what am I saying? It’s a battle zone I go through. Chemo, no matter how you cut it, is hell on wheels.”
“There is probably that little bird that flies through your insides and says, ‘I sure would like to make a mark in life,’ ” Mr. Swayze said. “I’ve made a pretty decent mark so far — nothing to scoff at. But it does make you think: Wait a minute. There’s more I want to do. Lots more. Get on with it.”
[From The NY Times]
Patrick doesn’t actually say that’s he’s beat cancer, and at the end of the interview his employer Zack Van Amburg says that his doctors are encouraging, but “they have never said he’s cured.” I think for many people with a life threatening illness, you feel most strongly the loss of direction, because you feel you can’t do anything with your life until you know a long term prognosis.
Patrick seems to be fighting this in the vest way possible, by continuing to work and having a focus beyond getting well. Obviously if he’s able to work 12-hour days during his recovery, something that many of us can’t manage when we’re completely healthy, he must be doing very well indeed.

Patrick Dempsey, 42, is quoted by UK’s Sun, which probably excerpted this from another interview they’re not properly crediting, as saying that he can’t really define romance but that it includes all the cliché things plus some added spice - like spanking. You know he’s into full bondage and all the gear and this is as much as he’ll admit to:
[Patrick Dempsey] said: “Romance is an atmosphere, a feeling, a mood, a place, it’s in the air. It is the little things - even a spanking every now and then!
“It is hard to define romance other than going with the clichés of a lake, a boat, a picnic basket and a sunset.”
But the sexy actor also treats his wife to more conventional romantic treats, and loves whisking her off for a weekend in France and Italy.
“Certain cities are so exciting because they promote being physical in public,” he revealed. “Paris, New York and Rome are fun to visit. But then there is the Italian countryside, Tuscany and Florence, where everyone is romancing.”
[From The Sun]
So we know that Dempsey likes spanking, “being physical in public” in cities, which means a quickie in an alley somewhere, and having sex out in the Italian countryside. Vacation sex is usually better, especially when you add in some healthy S&M.
I asked Ceilidh if she thought Dempsey was the kinky type and she said she could totally see it and that he must make his wife wear some painful device under her clothes and that’s why she never smiles on the red carpet. She also said that’s all she’ll be thinking about when she sees Dempsey from now on.
Can you picture Dempsey getting into it, his face all screwed up in rapturous goofy concentration? The thought makes me laugh nervously and cringe at the same time. He’s just not all that sexy to me, and now he seems awkward and eager for some reason.
Patrick Dempsey has been married to Jill Fink Dempsey, his second wife, for nine years. They have three children, daughter Tallulah, 8, and twin boys Darby and Sullivan, one and a half. He was first married at the age of 21 to a 48 year-old actress, Rochelle Parker, who had a son who was a year older than him. Is it wrong for me to think that she turned him out?

It has been a year of ups and downs for Patrick Swayze as he’s pursued his acting career in the midst of his battle with pancreatic cancer.
But yesterday the “Dirty Dancing” stud celebrated his 56th birthday on the set of his A&E series “The Beast” in Chicago, Illinois and he looked to be feeling just fine.
With the anticipation for the new season of “Grey’s Anatomy” running higher than ever, stars Katherine Heigl, Patrick Dempsey, and Eric Dane are hard at work churning out new episodes.
And the medical trio was spotted hanging out on the Los Angeles, California set of the hit hospital drama clowning around a bit with the paparazzi and having a good time.

Patrick Swazye says he's a "miracle" and he's definitely looking much better!
The actor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, is currently in Chicago for the time being.

It’s back to work for Patrick Swayze, as the “Dirty Dancing” star was spotted on the Chicago set of his new A&E series titled “The Beast” on Monday (July 28).
Accompanied by his wife, Lisa Niemi, the 55-year-old was back behind the camera for the first time since going through treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Things weren’t looking too great for Patrick Swayze earlier this year when it was announced that he was fighting pancreatic cancer. But the “Dirty Dancing” stud recently announced that he’s doing much better.
The paparazzi caught up to the “Ghost” hunk at LAX airport yesterday (July 20th) and saw a rejuvenated and spry man. He told them, “I’m a miracle dude…I don’t know why.”
Celebs all have their own fitness routine - some enjoy powerwalking, some like to shop, and others hit the stairs to work up a sweat.
We caught serious cyclist Dr. McDreamy rocking some spandex and taking a ride on his bike the other day.
While not all celebs get decked out in spandex for a spin around the block, there are plenty of them who enjoy spending time on two wheels (and look good while doing it!), so we dedicated a gallery to them.

The entertainment world was dealt a serious blow back in March when Patrick Swayze announced that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer. But it seems like the tables have turned for the “Dirty Dancing” actor.
Per a recent press update, Patrick says that he’s been living a full life, unencumbered by his illness. And the best part is, he’s responding extremely well to the treatment he’s been receiving.
Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey and his “Made of Honor” co-star Michelle Monaghan made their way to the Paris premiere of their new movie on Monday night (May 12).
The duo took turns posing on the red carpet by themselves before standing arm-in-arm, showing off their pearly whites to the lined-up photogs on hand.
So, we love Patrick Dempsey - seen here getting into his Porsche GT - on Grey's Anatomy. Heck, we might even see him in Made of Honor (if we were dragged to it, that is)! But, we gotta ask...

The duo are trying to boost box office sales for their new romantic comedy, Made of Honor, which hits theaters this Friday (May 2).

Doogie Howser is my homeboy. How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris went on Howard Stern and talked about everything. And I mean everything. Apparently, he's known he liked boys since he was 13, is a switch hitter (meaning he tops and bottoms), doesn't believe in open relationships (boring!), and thinks Perez Hilton is a complete douche for spending so much time on trying to out him last year. Ok, he didn't say "complete douche" but it's Perez Hilton, douchery is implied.
Harris was on Stern's Sirius radio show and told Howard that he knew he was definitely gay when he wasn't into Ben Stiller's wife Christine Taylor's body. He was dating her when he was a teenager.
"She's like the coolest, nicest chick ever. She's an absolute catch, and I thought if I'm not going to feel the super sparks with her, than it probably means that I'm gay," he said. Harris told Stern that he'd been with between 12-15 women before he was definite on the queer. You tell Stern EVERYTHING. I'm surprised there's not a rectal exam.
Stern asked Harris if he'd ever confronted Perez Hilton for outing him, and Harris was kinda/sorta not willing to answer it. I hope this queen got evil and sent him a Jenny Craig package or something.
"Well it's a tricky subject because people decide they want to be out in the open whether in a public forum or in their family at their own time. But Perez is from a generation that feels like (being out) is a non-issue. It's offensive to him when people don't declare that, because in his world, it's always been a part of who he is," he said.
Doogie also told Howard that he's "versatile." Harris has been in a relationship with actor David Burtka for four years, and apparently they like to switch it up. For my straight readers, that means you take and receive, depending on mood and hemorrhoid status. Ok, I didn't just say that. Alright, I totally did but I'm back in Boston and I think I have that jet lag thing and I couldn't sleep well last night and it might be affecting my tact.

Patrick Dempsey looks stern and it might just be because he's allowing his jealousy of his co-star's superior physique to ruin his day. The Grey's Anatomy has admitted to suffering from "pec envy" when standing next to Eric Dane AKA Dr. McSteamy.
The arguably dreamy Dempsey told Parade magazine, "I'm not Eric Dane --McSteamy is in perfect shape." He added, "There's a lot of pressure being a man in this town." Shit, there's a lot of pressure being a woman in this town. It sounds like the only individuals that get cut a break around here would be gender-bending folk. They're just so damn lucky.

Patrick Swayze, who has pancreatic cancer, is having an ‘excellent’ response to his experimental treatment.
“We’re thrilled and grateful for the positive response Patrick has shown towards his treatment,” the Dirty Dancing star and wife Lisa Niemi tell People.
“Also, we can’t help but feel that all the prayers, meditations and good thoughts sent his way by everyone has made a difference. Thank you!” said the couple.
His physician, Dr. George Fisher, added: “Patrick Swayze continues to respond well to his treatment for pancreatic cancer. Because of his excellent response, he will continue the same therapy at Stanford.”
The drug Patrick is reportedly taking is called Vatalanib which blocks the growth and spread of cancer by affecting the molecules that turn normal cells into cancer cells. He has also undergone chemotherapy. Experimental treatment is generally only performed on terminally ill patients, although Patrick’s reps say that suggestions he has only weeks to live aren’t true.
While Patrick may not be close to death, pancreatic cancer has a poor prognosis. The five year survival rate ranges between 5% and 25%, depending on how advanced the cancer is when diagnosed.
I’m glad to hear he is doing well, and hopefully we’ll get more reports like this over the coming years.

Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey has signed a deal to be the face of a new Avon men’s fragrance.
He is rumored to make at least $5 million (wow!) off the three year deal. No wonder so many celebs have their own fragrance.
Dempsey joins the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Hudson, Lauren Conrad, and Derek Jeter as Avon spokepeople.
“This is an extremely exciting opportunity for me to work with Avon—a brand I have long respected as a global powerhouse with a lot of heart and soul.”
“The brand reaches every corner of the globe with more than just high-quality products—it creates economic empowerment for women through its earning opportunity, and has an excellent reputation for corporate philanthropy through their Avon Foundation.”
David Patrick Columbia, who narrates the goings on of New York society, has a theory about the ladies of Real Housewives of New York City, the Bravo reality show in which five idiots wander around New York, destroying everything. These women are not Society, Columbia insists: "Socialites, yes maybe; Society, no. But then, it could be argued successfully that there is no Society anymore. Socialites go out at night. Society stays home." It's just like that movie I Am Legend, where the hero holes up in his gorgeous townhouse on Washington Square Park, while hideous zombie vampire creatures roam Manhattan. Society is aged and weak, as the socialites will be someday. This will continue until society has died and everything has been devoured. It's pretty grim. Though Columbia does demonstrate some appreciation for the socialite menace: "The Countess de Lesseps, off-camera is a very nice woman, and is also a Native American." Oh. Well, there you have it. Patrick Dempsey plays a dreamy doctor on TV, and is making a real-life contribution to health care that will help save lives!
Yesterday, the Grey’s Anatomy star, 42, gave the Central Maine Medical Center in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine, $250,000 for a brand new cancer center.
The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is slated to open Mar. 31 and will provide education and support programs for cancer patients and their families.
The CMMC has special meaning for Dr. McDreamy: Not only was he born in the hospital, but his mom, Amanda, has been treated there twice for ovarian cancer, which is now in remission.
Patrick said he remembered not knowing where to turn when his mother was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago.
“For a family to get a cancer diagnosis is devastating, and all the information out there can be overwhelming,” Dempsey said at a press conference Monday. “A lot of the websites I went to just didn’t have enough information.
“So, I talked to my sister about a place where people could go for all this type of information and help. Knowledge is power.”
Dubbed The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing, the facility opens March 31. Dempsey plans to take part in the center’s public education campaign about cancer prevention and detection. And one more heartwarming note: Dempsey’s sister, Mary, works at the hospital and will serve as coordinator of the new center.

Patrick Swayze’s rep confirmed last Wednesday that the beloved actor is suffering from pancreatic cancer, but said that reports that doctors gave him just five weeks to live were not true. He said “Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects.”
WENN is reporting that Swayze has had to drop out of his latest film Fired Up, in which he was going to play a gay cheerleading instructor. There is no confirmation or follow-up from his rep on his withdrawal from the film.
Swayze’s doctor said in a statement last Wednesday that he has “a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far.” He also seemed to deny the Enquirer’s report, which stated that Swayze had lost 30 pounds and could not keep solid food down, saying that “All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”
His rep is also quoted as saying that “Patrick is currently undergoing chemotherapy - not radiation - and he has not lost his hair. We are doing everything we can, and Patrick is doing well under the circumstances.”
I really hope that’s the case and that Swayze has dropped out of the role so that he can focus on his health at this critical time.
Many of Swayze’s co-stars have offered encouragement and their thoughts to him.
His co-star from 1987’s Dirty Dancing, Jennifer Grey, said “If I saw him on the streets today, I’d throw my arms around him and love him up.”
Claire Sweeney, who worked with Swayze in 2006 on the London stage production of Guys and Dolls, said “I feel privileged to have worked with him and honored to have him and his wife Lisa in my life as friends. My thoughts are with them both at this difficult time and I hope with all my heart that he makes a full recovery.”
According to Bang Showbiz, “Patrick is recovering from his latest chemotherapy session at his New Mexico ranch with his wife of 33 years, Lisa Niemi.”

Kids, do NOT smoke!!!!!
SMOKING KILLS!
A new report claims that actor Patrick Swayze had a filthy habit of smoking three packs of cigarettes a day.
We hope that's not true.
Any sane person would know THAT IS TOO MUCH.
Smoking kills!
INSIDE EDITION has uncovered Patrick Swayze had a three pack a day cigarette habit. The habit was so bad it was listed as a partial factor in the cause of a plane crash Swayze was involved in by the National Transit Safety Board in 2000. The report reveals Swayze was flying his plane when he became physically impaired in the cockpit which authorities said may have been caused by the cumulative effects of carbon monoxide by-products from the engine and from tobacco use.
Don't smoke, kids!!!
According to the American Cancer Society previous studies have shown that smoking is responsible for about one-third of pancreatic cancer deaths. Studies reveal heavy smoking may damage the pancreas before cancer develops leaving the damaged pancreas more susceptible and at a greater risk of developing cancer.
Smoking kills!!!!
Earlier this week it was announced that Patrick Swayze is suffering from pancreatic cancer. But with his positive attitude and the best doctors money can buy, he’s clinging to the hope that he can beat the disease.
The “Ghost” stud is still maintaining his normal schedule, with a few projects scheduled to be released in the near future. One of which is the new A&E network drama titled “The Beast.”
As we reported yesterday, the National Enquirer published a story claiming that Patrick Swayze had only 5 weeks to live.
The story went on to claim that the actor had lost 20 pounds in recent weeks and could not keep solid foods down. However, his publicist released a statement denying those claims.
“Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Patrick’s physician Dr. George Fisher states, ‘Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.’ Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”
This is good news. Hopefully things aren’t as grim as previously thought.
Best wishes to Patrick.

Wednesday afternoon the National Enquirer announced that Patrick Swayze had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and hand only weeks to live. Late Wednesday evening Page Six reported that while the Dirty Dancing star does have cancer, it’s not as bad as first believed. Keep in mind that Patrick recently completed a pilot for A&E that was supposed to be the stations big new drama. So some of this could be spin.
“Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment,” his rep said in a statement. “Patrick’s physician Dr. George Fisher states, ‘Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.’ Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”

Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live?
The National Enquirer claims Patrick Swayze has only five weeks to live. Earlier this year the actor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has since spread to other organs. Since receiving the news Swayze and his wife have been traveling the Stanford University cancer center in Palo Alto to receive treatment but doctors are less than optimistic. An insider told the mag:
“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure. It’s time to start praying for a miracle.” (Source)
This better not be one of those funny plays on words like “I’m dying to see you”, “I died laughing”, or “You have an inoperable brain tumor.” The doctor totally got me with that last one a few weeks ago. It still gives me headaches when I think about it . . . or when I think about anything else . . . weird.

We've just learned from the National Enquirer that actor Patrick Swayze has been receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer and the disease has reportedly spread so much that doctors have given him only five weeks to live. Diagnosed in late January, the "Dirty Dancing" star has been visiting the Stanford University cancer center in Palo Alto for the past month, however his prognosis is very grim.
A source revealed to the tabloid, "He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure." After receiving three doses of chemotherapy, his tumor had not shrunk as much as doctors were hoping it would and Patrick has dropped 20 lbs. in the past few weeks during his treatment.
I really hope this is bogus.

The National Enquirer has a very sad exclusive that beloved 80s star Patrick Swayze has terminal cancer that has spread from his pancreas throughout his body. They say that chemotherapy has not been successful and that doctors give him just five weeks to live.
He has been getting outpatient treatment at Stanford University, and will receive two more sessions of chemotherapy, but doctors say that it’s not helping and they don’t know what else they can do:
In a shocking world exclusive, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has uncovered the devastating news that the beloved Hollywood actor and dancer was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs.
Full details are in the print edition of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER that goes on sale tomorrow.
For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University’s prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful.
Patrick and his wife Lisa Niemi — who both have pilot’s licenses — have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into Palo Alto’s airport, minutes away from the Stanford Cancer Center, where the actor has received outpatient treatment.
He received three doses of chemotherapy and the tumor shrank, but less than his doctors had hoped for — and Patrick was told he should prepare for the end.
“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure,” said an insider.
[From The National Enquirer’s website]
The article states that Patrick has lost 20 pounds and is on a liquid diet because he can’t keep food down. This is so sad and I hope he pulls through. He’s just 55 and that’s way too young to die.
Yesterday Best Week Ever had us all in stitches with a cute post showing Patrick Swayze’s many expressions in Ghost, and today comes the shocking news that he’s battling terminal cancer. Please hang in there Patrick and get well.
In early February there was a story that Patrick Swayze was hospitalized for a serious “gastro-intestinal procedure” at Stanford Medical center, but his spokesperson simply said he was doing well and no further information was given.
Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi are shown at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino opening on 11/17/07, thanks to PRPhotos.

Dr. McDreamy (AKA Patrick Dempsey) is looking trim and dapper for the unveiling of the first Subaru turbodiesel motor at the Shoko Club in Madrid, Spain. Now, I have no idea what that means exactly because I have pretty much no knowledge of what the hell is going underneath in the engine of my car. I remember vague conversations in which my dad patiently tried to explain to me what a piston does, but as far as I'm concerned, my Corolla is powered by a troop of elves running on espresso and adrenaline. But I can say with 100% confidence that Patrick's smile could melt glaciers.
Hmm, now he's looking very cute in that suit and all, but I still don't understand why we can't also see him scantily clad, draped over the hood of a shiny car.
