Stepping out in the Big Apple, Penelope Cruz was front and center at the Official Opening of “A Diamond Is Forever Unbreakable Kiss Mistletoe Installation” in New York City on Monday (December 1).
The daytime event was held at Madison Square Park, with ribbon cutting ceremonies in recognition of the Elton John AIDS Foundation on World AIDS Day.
Trouble in paradise?
Perfect pairing Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem promised each other a year long break from work to concentrate just on being the beautiful couple that they are.
But it seems that Javi could not resist working and signed up for the latest film by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu. Production is currently happening in Barcelona, Spain.
Penny is reportedly not too happy about that. At all.
Looks like they might have different priorities!

Glamming up the Leicester Square red carpet in a black L’Wren dress, Penelope Cruz stepped out for the BFI London Film Festival screening of “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” on Tuesday (October 21).
The movie, which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Rebecca Hall, is told to be the tale of “tangled love lives of Americans abroad in Barcelona.”
Penélope Cruz talked to writer John Hiscock, a bit about her reputation of becoming romantically involved with her leading men. She famously starred with Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky, and went on to have a three-year relationship with him. She also dated Matthew McConaughey, her co-star in Sahara. She says:
“I’ve never fallen in love with someone I’m working with. It’s always been afterwards. If something becomes friendship, then maybe months later it becomes something else, but you can never know. It’s always a mystery. You can’t plan those things.”
For the past year, the 34-year-old actress has been in a settled relationship with her most recent leading man, Javier Bardem, 39. Bardem is a fellow Spaniard and multi-award-winning actor whom she first met when she was 16 when they worked together in her debut film, Jamón jamón. She fell in love with Bardem while playing his fiery and tempestuous ex-wife in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Woody Allen recalls that during the filming in Barcelona, Cruz and Bardem often spoke passionately to each other in Spanish, and he had no idea what they were saying.
In Vicky Cristina Barcelona, as in many of her films, she plays a woman searching for happiness, which is something she can relate to.
“In the end we are all looking for the same thing, no? We all want to be happy and we all have different ways of looking for it and finding it. I guess that’s why we’re all here.”
While they are reluctant to talk about their relationship, friends of the couple say this could be the one that lasts. When they have finished promoting Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Javier & Penélope plan to find a house together in London, where Cruz will spend five months rehearsing and filming the musical Nine, with a cast that includes Nicole Kidman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Marion Cotillard.
When it comes to knowing the right people in Hollywood, it would appear that Penelope Cruz has her bases covered. And last night she was spotted having dinner with bigwig producer Harvey Weinstein.
The “Vanilla Sky” beauty looked cute in a low-cut black-with-colorful-accents blouse and a pair of vintage wash jeans as she schmoozed with the studio exec on their way to the swanky Cipriani restaurant.
I really don’t care for false modesty from celebrities – but a sufficiently grounded celeb gets my vote anyway. It’s a little hard to tell which camp Penelope Cruz falls into. Though she is absolutely beyond stunning, the actress claims that she’s not beautiful by her own estimation.
OK — there is officially no hope for the rest of us! Penelope Cruz, without doubt one of the most gorgeous women on the planet, thinks she’s (ready?) not beautiful! When Parade magazine asked the Spanish star her secret for looking so amazing in both her new movies, Vicky Christina Barcelona and Elegy, she said simply: “I don’t have any.
“I don’t think I am beautiful. I can look good and I can look ugly. What’s funny is that when I was younger I wanted everyone to look at me. Now I like to watch other people because you can learn a lot of interesting things.”
But it sounds like the cast of Vicky Christina who showed up for the filming of her love scene’s [sic] with Scarlett Johansson don’t quite agree with her self-assessment. “The set was very crowded that day and I’m not sure everyone had a reason to be there,” she said.

Given the context, I believe Cruz is just being humble and realistic. We all have ugly days. It’s like what Cindy Crawford once said about how even she doesn’t wake up looking like Cindy Crawford. But I still can’t imagine waking up looking anything like Penelope Cruz and not thinking, “Damn, I look fine.” Or some variation.

The latest Woody Allen movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” is already making quite a splash in the film industry. And last night (August 6), Penelope Cruz was glamming up the New York City premiere.
The “Blow” actress showed up outside of Cinema 2 in Manhattan looking sexy in a fringed-out black minidress with a long black jacket and a pair of black peep-toe heels.

Every time Woody Allen releases a new film, it’s always a big deal in the art movie scene. And last night was no different, as “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” made it’s Los Angeles premiere.
And there was plenty of A-list style for the shutterbugs to drool over, as Scarlett Johansson, Salma Hayek, and Penelope Cruz (with Javier Bardem) all arrived for the event and posed with director Allen.

When they shot the scene, “there were like 60 crewmen [sitting around] eating salami sandwiches!” Johansson said at the movie’s Los Angeles premiere Monday. “It’s really the least sexy thing you can ever imagine!”
And I say to you Johansson, that you better be grateful you only got just that. When a girl gets drunk enough to make out with another chick around sixty or so guys, there’s usually is a lot of howling (sometimes it kinda sounds like a giraffe with throat cancer), which is then followed by the beating of the two women over the head with a steel beam, and ejaculation over their corpses.
…You know, now after I think about that, you’re right. Salami sandwiches still sounds the least sexy.

We've been looking forward to seeing Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz get it on ever since we heard about their steamy lesbian sex scene in Woody Allen's new flick Vicky Cristina Barcelona - until we read Woody's response to the furor, that is!
In the latest issue of Empire, Allen outright denies the rumors, claiming his film contains "the barest smidgeon of sex" and nothing more. "There are sex scenes between all the characters in the movie: between the men and the women, and the women and the women. That is accurate, but I'd say there's probably not even 20 seconds of sex in the whole picture."
Well, that's the worst news we've heard today - do you think the flick will show any ScarJo/Penelope action beyond what they show in the trailer?
So is anyone still interested in the flick? We love Woody's flicks too much to stay away - but this is a huge letdown!
Accompanied by director Pedro Almodovar, Penelope Cruz was resonant in red as she made a Sunday afternoon arrival in Lanzarote, the easternmost of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean.

Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem were conspicuously absent from the premiere of the new Woody Allen film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, this past weekend in France.
Oscar-winner Javier Bardem’s, absence was explained to be due to personal family reasons.
But here’s the story on why Woody’s muse wasn’t in Cannes to support him.
According to reports, Scarlett was making demanding that the studio, Warner Brothers Films, releasing the film wasn’t willing to agree to.
The newly engaged actress reportedly refused to stay at the same hotel as Cruz and Allen..
Scarlett’s decision to stay at a hotel 30 minutes away would have also likely caused many delays in the film’s promotion schedule.
Johansson was also demanding her own exclusive hair and makeup people, which would have cost an additional $5,000 a day for her four-day stay.
Mind you the studio was willing, and happy, to pay for flights, hotel, provide a limousine, arrange for designers to show her gowns and for her to share hair and make-up designers with Cruz and Rebecca Hall.
“While Woody’s terribly fond of Scarlett, he was a little upset that she wasn’t being a team player”, says an executive connected to the film.
Scarlett’s alleged diva behavior didn’t seem to have a negative impact on the movies reception. The film received a ten minute standing ovation Saturday night after the black-tie audience saw the film. Scarlett has agreed to support the movie back in America though and the studio is said to be ‘delighted’.
Taking care of her press duties, Penelope Cruz attended a weekend photocall during the fourth day of the Cannes Film Festival (May 17).
Accompanied by director Woody Allen and actress Rebecca Hall, the trio smiled and posed as they promoted their new movie romantic comedy/drama titled “Vicky Christina Barcelona”.

Of course, one of the questions posed to Penelope involved her already famous kiss shared with costar Scarlett. Penelop sighed saying that she had been asked 4 times already, and that she didn't have a good answer to it and declined to do so.
Then she said that she asked herself, "What would Woody Allen say?"
Penelope didn't know the answer to that, and so again declined to answer the question.
Too bad. I have a feeling that Woody would have wanted to know how she felt about his sexiest scene to date as much as the reporters.

Woody Allen’s upcoming “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” is getting a lot of extra press lately for dubious reasons. Apparently Woody has filmed a “very steamy lesbian sex scene between his lovely muse Scarlett Johansson and the Spanish enchantress, Penelope Cruz. Sources say:
“The scene is extremely erotic. People will be blown away and even shocked.

Well, it looks like Woody Allen's decided to give everyone on earth at least one reason to see his upcoming movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona - a steamy lesbian sex scene between Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz!
