Richard Gere and Diane Lane attended the premiere of "Nights In Rodanthe" last night in New York City. Sure, they're the stars of the film, but we really wanted to see James Franco! There's plenty of him in the trailer, but he was noticeably absent from the premiere last night. Hmmm!
Richard and his real life leading lady Cary Lowell
And why am I blanking on their names?
They have quite an extensive history, starring together in past films such as “The Cotton Club” and “Unfaithful.” And last night Diane Lane and Richard Gere unveiled their latest collaboration.
The “Pretty Woman” stud and the “Under the Tuscan Sun” babe were all about hamming it up for the paparazzi at the New York City premiere of “Nights in Rodanthe,” held at the Ziegfeld Theatre.

CNN must not pay very well. Wouldn’t you think a CNN anchor could afford some better drugs than meth? Richard Quest, a business travel specialist and anchor for the international cable network, was arrested Friday in Central Park for violating the park curfew and possession of methamphetamine.
The arresting officer originally approached Quest simple because he was loitering afer park hours. Then, following standard procedure he searched the news jock and found a plastic baggie of meth in his jacket pocket. Quest’s attorney said, “Mr. Quest did not realize that the park had a curfew, and was returning to his hotel with friends.”
What a moron. Every celebrity knows you send your unfamous lackey-friends on your middle of the night drug runs in Cental Park. After 12 hours in custody Quest received a slap on the wrist of six months of counseling in exchange for a judge’s promise to drop the charge if the therapy is successful. Since when do reporters get diplomatic immunity?

CNN broadcaster Richard Quest was picked up by New York police in the wee hours of the morning yesterday in Central Park, steaming up those shiny glasses of his. It was approximately 3:40 am when officers arrested Quest, who was found with drugs in his pocket, a sex toy hidden in his boot and a rope tied around his neck that was attached to his concealed genitals.
This quote from Page Six explains how the officer used his extensive skills of deduction to figure out that the substance in Quest's pocket was drugs, citing "his prior experience as a police officer in drug arrests, observation of packaging which is characteristic of this type of drug, and defendant's statements that...'I've got some meth in my pocket.'"

CNN reporter and business travel expert Richard Quest was arrested this morning by police in Central Park. He was originally detained for breaking the park’s curfew (it’s closed from 1 a.m. – 6 a.m.) at 3:40 in the morning. As he was being escorted out of the park by officers, he voluntarily told them that he had methamphetamine in his pocket. He was then arrested and was arraigned today on drug possession charges.
Richard Quest, a reporter and business travel specialist for CNN International, is being arraigned today on a misdemeanor charge of drug possession after the authorities said he was found with methamphetamine in Central Park.
The police noticed Mr. Quest at 64th Street and West Drive at about 3:40 a.m., the official said. As he was being escorted out, he volunteered, “I have meth in my pocket,” according to an official briefed on the case. The police searched him and recovered a small amount of methamphetamine in a Ziploc bag.
Mr. Quest is a high-profile correspondent for CNN International, known for feature reports and profiles. CNN calls Mr. Quest, who is British, one of the network’s “most instantly recognizable members.” He hosts “CNN Business Traveler” and a feature program titled “Quest” for the news network. CNN had no immediate comment.

Richard Quest is definitely one of the more recognizable reporters on CNN. He’s known for his big grin and generally ebullient nature – and of course his distinctive British accent. He also was won the Funniest Newsman contest at Infohunks.
64th and West Drive is only five blocks up and about a block into the park from CNN’s headquarters at Columbus Circle. Quest must keep pretty odd hours due to the nature of his job – he reports for both CNN and CNN International. One can only wonder if he was working at the studio late at night and left for… well obvious reasons. Richard Quest always has so much energy on the air - I always attributed that to him being a real character, but now I’m starting to rethink a bit.

Richard Gere's kissed plenty of lovely leading ladies in his day - but until yesterday, the smooch he planted on Indian actress Shilpa Shetty's been the one moment of PDA he wishes he'd kept private!
Last April, as you may remember, Gere set off a firestorm among the Hindi faithful when he planted one on Shetty at an AIDS benefit. The outrage grew to such epic proportions that a warrant was issued for Gere's arrest on charges of obscenity - keeping Gere out of India for the last year under threat of arrest!
Luckily for Gere, according to Page Six, the Indian high court seems willing to let bygones be bygones - yesterday, they suspended the arrest warrant against Gere indefinitely!
"Gere is allowed to come and leave," said Shilpa's attorney, Anil Grover, "He can't be arrested."
That's certainly good news for Gere - as long as he can keep his lips off Shilpa, that is!
Hey, if wanting to plant one on Shilpa Shetty's a crime, lock us up!

Let me drop some knowledge on you about Todd Haynes. The man is a genius. He's responsible for such flicks as "Safe" (Julianne Moore has allergies), and "Far From Heaven" (Julianne Moore is married to Dennis Quaid who likes guys). AND he wrote and directed "Velvet Goldmine" which is one of my favorite flicks of all time. It's a fantasy about what would have happened if David Bowie and Iggy Pop had been shagging the whole time, and it's set against this gay glam rock gay fantasia tinsel background and I like to watch it when I'm drunk and eating take-out at two A.M. In my mind, Todd Haynes is cinematic gold. His new flick is about Bob Dylan and he cast multiple actors to play multiple versions of Dylan through the years. Including Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and...Cate Blanchett? Crazy! I can't wait to see Cate mumble and talk about the man, and winds of Vietnam or whatever the hell Dylan was talking about. Truthfully glam rock seems like it would be more interesting than muttery guy, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Todd Haynes' highly impressionistic docudrama "I'm Not There" is "inspired by the life and work of Bob Dylan," though pop's leading troubadour is not mentioned, barely seen and not heard very much in the production.Instead, an eclectic mix of actors including Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Richard Gere portray characters whose lives run parallel to or are informed by Dylan's life. There's plenty of the singer-songwriter's music on hand but sung by others. Filled with incidents that echo famous moments in Dylan's life, the goal is to summarize all the disparate elements in his career.

Richard Gere recently had to show off his bare behind for a scene in his most recent film, "The Hunting Party" on an airport runway, no less. The white-haired actor, who will be turning fifty-eight at the end of the month, took on the role of a war correspondent whose star has faded and is now passing the torch on to his pupil, played by Terrence Howard. In the film, the two work together to hunt down the most notorious war criminal in Bosnia. Apparently, Richard felt confident enough in his assets to turn down the services of a "butt double" waiting in the wings for his big break. Aww, poor butt double. I wonder if his little cheeks just sagged in disappointment when he realized that his moment wasn't going to happen. Perk up, little fellow! There are plenty of butts in the sea...um, I'm sorry, that came out all wrong.

The man behind the Virgin brand, Richard Branson, has just launched his latest entrepreneurial venture. Virgin America will be offering flights within the U.S. between a limited number of cities initially, but hopes to expand by luring customers in by providing stylish service at a reasonable cost. Using such gimmicks as "mood" lighting inside the plane and goofy nicknames for the aircraft themselves (Virgin & Tonic, Mac Daddy, An Airplane Named Desire, etc.), Branson and company are hoping to position themselves as the airline for the "cool kids." And to kick off the airline's inception, Branson invited celebrities like Rachel Hunter and Haylie Duff along for a ride, according to the L.A. Times.
"It's kind of fun chatting on an airplane," actress Haylie Duff typed into her tiny hand-held keyboard. Messaging from her seat to another several rows ahead, she gushed, "Loov the tiny TVs and the chats."This stuff does sound nice, but I have to admit that unless they offer a morphine drip so that I can be completely unconscious during the entire process, I'll still always hate getting on a plane.
