Scarlett and Ryan flew guests to eco resort for wedding in 7 seaplanes

Yesterday when we reported that Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson got married in a luxurious ecologically-conscious resort on Vancouver Island, Canada, commenter Codzilla speculated that they surely flew guests there in a private plane and made more of an impact on the environment than they were able to offset. The only way you can reach that particular island is by plane, and Ryan and Scarlett did fly their 35 guests there in seven separate seaplanes, according to the National Enquirer.Another interesting part of this story is that guests weren’t told ahead of time where they were going:
Approximately 35 close friends and family members were instructed to gather at a specific time at Vancouver International Airport on the wedding day, the insider revealed to the Enquirer. They were not told ahead of time where they were going.
They boarded chartered seaplanes - five to six guests in each of seven planes - and were whisked to a secluded resort owned by a friend of the couple on a remote island, outside of Vancouver off the coast of British Columbia.
“She and Ryan picked an island that was inaccessible by ferry.
“The only way to get there was by seaplane.”
But despite the big hush-hush, the couple succeeded in pulling off the wedding of their dreams.
“It was an absolute gorgeous event,” concluded the insider.

It sounds like Scarlet and Ryan picked that particular resort because they knew the owner, not because it was an eco-conscious resort. It’s certainly exclusive enough - rates for only three nights start at $4,458.00 USD per person.
Neither Ryan or Scarlett is particularly involved with environmental causes. Scarlett does charity work for Oxfam and has toured Rwanda, India and Sri Lanka this year. She did recently do a campaign to encourage people to recycle their cell phones.
Ryan drives a Prius though.

People Magazine has more details of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds’ wedding on Canada’s Vancouver Island, and it sounds romantic. They picked the ecologically-conscious and exclusive Clayoquat Wilderness Resort, which specializes in weddings and honeymoons, to offer their guests plenty of outdoor activities along with a luxurious nature-themed setting. Guests stayed in well-appointed tents that look more like B&B rooms than roughing it, and include full baths, wood stoves, and plenty of candles to set the mood. The resort’s website says they specialize in medium sized weddings of up to 50 people. Scarlett and Ryan invited under 40 friends and family members, who enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, and likely took advantage of the spa services:Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynold’s Canadian wedding location wasn’t just to paparazzi-proof their nuptials last weekend, but to allow the couple and their guests to enjoy the great outdoors on Vancouver Island, PEOPLE reports in its latest issue, on sale Friday.
Even the groom, 31, took advantage of the setting – fishing for salmon and halibut while other guests went horseback riding and mountain biking on the grounds of the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, a luxurious outpost of 20 canvas tents that caters to nature lovers.
“Scarlett wanted a ceremony with just family and a few select friends,” says a source close to the 23-year-old bride. Less than 40 people attended the weddingt.

All that rustic comfort doesn’t come cheap. Rates for just three nights start at $4,458.00 USD, or $4,750 Canadian per person.
Here are some photos of the resort where they stayed, from their website. It looks really nice, and I saw a similar high end tent resort on a special on the Travel Channel a few years ago. It makes me feel relaxed just looking at the pictures.
Scarlett and Ryan are said to be planning another larger reception in order to accommodate more friends and family. Maybe we’ll see some pictures for that one.

It was beginning to look like Scarlett Johansson, 23, and Ryan Reynolds, 31, might be stuck in engagement limbo for so long that a wedding wasn’t going to happen. The two confirmed their engagement in May, but when asked about possible wedding plans, Scarlett said she “hadn’t even thought about it yet,” but that “I’m a private person, so I’m sure it will be as private as possible.” There were rumors that they were having trouble and weren’t going to make it official, but those seemed fueled by the lack of information more than anything else.Scarlett did indeed marry Reynolds in a small private ceremony near Vancouver, Canada on Saturday. In fact it was so private that no one heard about it ahead of time and there are very few details at this point.
The small wedding took place at a remote wilderness resort outside Vancouver. Guests included Scarlett’s mother, Melanie Sloan, and her brother, Adrian Johansson.

Congratulations to Scarlett and Ryan and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness together. (That’s usually what I write in the wedding cards for people I don’t know well. It’s generic enough yet sounds heartfelt.)
Reynolds has three films coming out next year according to IMDB, The Proposal, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Adventureland. He’s also working on another film in pre-production, Paperland. Johansson has He’s Just Not That Into You, due for release in February of next year, and is due to work on one more film. She has said that she hopes to direct in the near future. Hopefully these two have enough time off to have a romantic honeymoon.
Note by Ceilidh: Ryan Reynolds starting dating Johansson in April 2007, two months after Reynolds ended his five year relationship, and two year engagement, with Alanis Morrisette. Scarlett had dated Josh Hartnett for two years after meeting on the set of The Black Dahlia, splitting in November 2006.
Ryan and Scarlett always seemed to make alot more sense than Ryan and Alanis. Reynolds and Morissette were together for a long time and engaged but would never set a date. They claimed they already “felt married.” Those “felt marriages” are always easier to get a “felt divorce” from.

And that's not all - in the upcoming issue of In Style, the 46-year-old actress breaks her eight year silence and reveals the details of her affair with Aussie hunk Russell Crowe, as well as the downfall of her marriage to Dennis Quaid.
Meg discusses her fling with Russell, and says, "I think he took a big hit. But Russell didn't break up the marriage. He was definitely there at the end, but it wasn't his fault. I was a mess. I hurt him too at the end. I couldn't be in another long relationship, it wasn't the time for that. So I got out." Additionally, Meg reveals that being labeled "America's Sweetheart" over two decades ago wasn't exactly what she wanted. "It's an old-fashioned idea, so anachronistic. “He looked glum. He told me, ‘I’m too old for this town.’” Moments later, Ryan left alone. “He’d spent most of the night in the VIP section, drinking and not talking much, even though he had girls all around him.”
Ryan, turning 34 doesn’t mean your old. It just means now if you want to bang 18-year-olds, you have to pay for them. Considering Hollywood’s obsession with youth, Ryan might be right though — in dog years Hollywood years, 34 is ancient. In a couple of more years Ryan will hit his forties and thus be relegated to sitcoms, retirement, or even worse: playing the role of the younger man in the next Sex in the City movie.

What is wrong with people? Meth? Really Ryan O’Neil? Aren’t you too old for that nonsense? Ryan and his son, Redmond O’Neal, were arrested Wednesday for drug possession in their Malibu home.
“This morning, deputies were doing a routine sweep to make sure Redmond was adhering to his probation,” sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said. “Upon searching the premises, the younger O’Neal was found in possession of narcotics. Later, a vial of drugs were found in the elder O’Neal’s bedroom. We believe the drugs found were methamphetamines.”
One word; Idiots. Okay just a few more…you were on probation you idiot! And not only that, everyone knows that you never give your parents drugs, under any circumstances.

Ryan O'Neal and son Redmond were booked this morning on suspicion of narcotics possession after a probation search at the actor's Malibu home, according to the LA Times. The two were detained shortly after 7:15 a.m. and taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said authorities found methamphetamine on 24-year-old Redmond, and a vial of the drug was also found in Ryan's bedroom. Redmond is the result of Ryan's long term relationship with Farrah Fawcett, and this would be the third time he's been arrested for possession of hard drugs. Last year, he was arrested on charges related to carrying heroin and crystal meth while driving, and in 2005, he was arrested on suspicion of methamphetamine and cocaine possession. Father and son will be held on $10,000 bail.
Ryan's other kid, Oscar-winner Tatum O'Neal (remember her?) was arrested back in June for cocaine possession. And don't forget, last year Ryan was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he fired a gunshot during an argument with his other son, Griffin. Geeeez! This family makes the Lohans look like the Osmonds!

Young Hollywood supercouple Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have been keeping a pretty low profile lately. A few months ago there were rumors that the absurdly gorgeous duo were on the rocks due to Ryan’s insecurities and jealousy, but they seem to have patched things up. Now, the latest buzz is that their engagement will culminate in a wedding this winter, once the presidential election is over.The couple, engaged since May, plan to tie the knot this winter, after Scarlett’s 24th birthday, a source tells Star.
Before some 200 guests, including celebrity friends such as Natalie Portman, Woody Allen and Sandra Bullock, Scarlett and the 31-year-old Canadian will wed in a traditional Jewish ceremony in New York City. Helping the couple pull it all together is Scarlett’s mom/manager, Melanie Sloan.
Why wait? After all, Ryan has been eager to marry Scarlett for some time. According to the source, “they’re taking it slow because her twin brother, Hunter, is busy working on Barack Obama’s campaign. Scarlett, who also supports the presidential hopeful, wants to hold off until the election is over because Hunter is so busy.”

As always, I caution that anything in Star is to be taken lightly. I guess time will tell if this story is true. I have to admit that this couple is growing on me. At first, I was still rooting for Ryan to get back with his ex, Alanis Morissette, but if Alanis is over it, then I suppose it’s time for me to move on as well. Scarlett may not be the best actress, but she does seem intelligent and fun to be around. Maybe these two will become the next Reese Witherspoon/Ryan Philippe- without the unhappy ending.

The couple that split back in 2007 has announced that they are, in fact, back together. “They’ve been talking a lot,” a source tells press, adding, “Their friends are quite pleased that they’re getting back together and are trying to give them space.”

Seacrest Out Ouch!That might be the strangest headline of the year. But it’s true. Seacrest was “attacked” by a shark over the weekend in Mexico. From the New York Post:
The “American Idol” host was swimming in the Pacific Ocean in front of LG Villa Cabo in Mexico on Sunday when a sand shark swam by and chomped his toe. “He didn’t know what it was for a minute - he thought it was a stick,” said one spy. “He had no time to be scared. He saw it swim away, he got out, took aspirin and called it a day.” (Source)
I’m not buying it — it’s a well documented fact that sharks only eat meat, not fruit. For future reference, if you are ever attacked by a shark, hit it in the nose with your fist . . . or as in Ryan’s case, with your absolutely gorgeous Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Handbag.

Ryan Seacrest, fresh from a Mexican vacation, told his listeners that he was bit by a shark while swimming in the ocean on Sunday.
He said on his KIIS-FM radio show, “I thought it was a stick. I wasn’t sure what had happened. I saw it swim! He took a bite, and he left.”
He said he found the shark’s tooth in his skin. “[It] wasn’t a great thing to find. It was like finding a splinter!” He added that he needed an Advil after the event.
When asked if anyone else on the beach had been bit, he replied, “No, just me, of course! There were like 1,000 people in the ocean, and I get bit by the shark!”
However, Seacrest was only bit on the toe by a sand shark. Nothing too big and scary. Darn it!

Ryan Seacrest was bit by a shark this past weekend. For real!
Thankfully, the accident was nothing too serious.
We're told that the Idol host was at a nearby beach in the L.A. area when he was bit by a baby shark on his foot.
The sea creature even left a little tooth behind as a souvenir.
You see, that's why we prefer pools over the beach. Plus, there's no sand!
