Now that he’s adjusted to life after his horrific plane crash earlier this fall, Travis Barker is getting back to his usual social self. And yesterday he was spotted with ex-wife Shanna Moakler at the Miss California pageant in Palm Springs.
The former Blink-182 drummer looked cozy as he schmoozed with his babymama (who happened to be wearing her wedding ring on her left-hand ring finger) and enjoyed the day’s festivities.
In connection with the plane crash that severely injured him and killed two of his friends, Travis Barker is suing Bombardier Inc., Clay Lacy Aviation and Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Barker is suing for “pain and suffering, mental anguish, psychological and emotional distress and disfigurement and pre-impact fear of death and burning.”
In the lawsuit, Travis and Thelma Martin Still mother of Charles “Che” Still, Travis’ bodyguard who died in the crash, claim “one or more of the tires failed leaving tire debris and portions of airplane components along the 8,600 foot runway” ultimately causing the Learjet to crash. The suit also alleges the plane was “defective,” as were component parts including the tires. The suit goes on, “It’s landing gear, tires, wheels, brakes, reverse thrust system, squat switches and component parts were not airworthy.”
The suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court and dug up by TMZ, also alleges a “negligent attempt to abort the takeoff.” The suit continues, “The pilot’s decision was a breach of their duty owed to the passengers onboard and was a substantial factor in causing the crash and resultant injuries and deaths.”
For some friends, it takes a fiery explosion and a near death experience for them to even reconnect with one another. This, of course, is the case for Travis Barker and his band members from the retired group Blink-186.
On his blog (http://www.pickrset.com/markhoppus/), group member Mark Hoppus says the recent death of Blink producer Jerry Finn and drummer Travis Barker’s survival of a plane crash brought the threesome back in contact.
“We’re just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking,” he says. “It’s a good thing. Obviously the first question for a lot of people will be, ‘Does this mean a Blink-182 reunion?’ The answer is none of us know. We haven’t talked about it at all. Right now it’s just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect and let the past be the past.”
While it sounds like a hopeful possibility for some fans, it might also sound like someone is going to have to motivate them a little by ravishing the planet with a zombie infection in order for them to do something like go on tour. Well, I have my gas mask, my automatic shotgun, and front row tickets for whenever that happens.

The fact that he narrowly survived a plane crash earlier this fall was all the more reason for Travis Barker to celebrate his 33rd birthday on Friday night.
The former Blink-182 drummer was surrounded by family and friends as he gave thanks for another year of life with a celebration dinner at Nobu.

Musician and former Reality TV star Travis Barker gave his first televised interview, almost two months after being critically injured in a tragic plane crash in South Carolina,
The former Blink 182 drummer appeared slightly dazed and weak, during the live broadcast of MTV’s finale for Total Request Live, but said: “I feel better every day.”
During the interview, Travis, who suffered severe burns that kept him in the hospital for a month, assured his fans that all is well.
“I’m already playing my drums again,” he revealed. “I’m already back in the studio.”
As for what it’s like to be back behind the drumkit, Travis explained, “It was like riding a bike. It was really exciting to know i still had my chops.”
Travis recently celebrated his 33rd birthday on November 14th and was seen out for an intimate dinner in West Hollywood hitting up Nobu with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler and there two young children, Landon and Alabama,
The other survivor of the plane crash, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, who was also hospitalized with severe burns, has already gotten back out on the road, performing with Jay-Z during his recent concert tour.

So earlier we told you that Travis Barker thought he was going to be released from the hospital "b4 you know it."
We'll he was right! Travis was released from the hospital Friday, just 4 weeks after surviving the crash of a private jet.
Barker will continue his recovery at home and get to spend time with his kids. Just as he had hoped!

Good news! Travis Barker's condition continues to improve and he's hoping to be out of the hospital soon. He posted a few pics of himself in the hospital on his MySpace Celebrity blog, including one where he gets a special delivery from his favorite restaurant Matushisa.
Travis says he's been receiving great care from the hospital, but can't wait to get home to be with his family. He writes:
In a new blog post, Travis Barker has some good news and a couple of pictures to share.
In addition to visits from friends, Travis also received a gift of food from his favorite restaurant, Matsuhisa.
But, he's most excited about getting home to his kids, Landon and Alabama, ages 4 and 2, respectively.

He said that he was getting out soon, but we didn’t realize it would be this soon! Travis Barker checked out of the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles today. He was transferred there from the Burn Center in Georgia by bus. Travis has undergone about a month’s worth of treatment between a Georgia burn center and Los Angeles-area burn center. He’s now hanging out at home and recovering from the burns he received in the plane crash last month.
Earlier in the day Travis posted a new entry saying he hoped to get out of the hospital soon and put some new pictures on his own MySpace. Travis said he’s most excited about getting home to his kids, Landon and Alabama, ages 4 and 2, respectively.

While Travis was laid up in the hospital, his ex-wife Shanna Moakler was giving another interview to UsWeekly about her near-death experience. Shanna claims she was supposed to be on that plane too:
“I was supposed to go with [Travis] to South Carolina, and at the last minute, I had this gnarly feeling and said, ‘I don’t think we should fly together anymore. God forbid something ever happened … our kids wouldn’t have both parents. Instead of flying a commercial flight back home, they decided to take a private jet. He e-mailed me pictures of the plane and wrote, ‘It’s really small and scary.’ I had a bad feeling, but didn’t want to sound strange, so I said, ‘Be safe.’ ”
When Shanna was asked why Travis made the comment on his blog about not seeing her since the first week he was in the hospital, she answered, “Trav and I are so crazy. We are off for one week, on the next. I would never abandon anyone in his condition, and I have made sure he had a support system. My feelings are deeply hurt. I wish him a speedy recovery and am thankful he’s alive.”

DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) has revealed what happened to him, during the the fiery plane crash in South Carolina that left him and his friend Travis Barker badly burned and killed four passengers. was jolted from a nap by a real-life nightmare:
The celebrity disc jockey tells People magazine that he dozed off as they waited on the runway for the plane to take off:
“The next thing I remember is us crashing into something. I woke up to (fellow survivor Travis Barker) screaming and the plane engulfed in flames. I remember thinking it was like `Miami Vice,’ where a car is on fire and you run before the gas tank explodes _ we gotta get out of here!”
Goldstein said he jumped through a fireball while rushing out of the plane after former Blink-182 drummer Barker opened a door. They stopped, dropped and rolled but Barker remained on fire.
“I finally put the flames out by smothering him with my body,” he says. “Some of my burns are from that. His sock was on fire and I burned my fingers taking it off.”
They were treated at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., where visitors included DJ AM’s mother, sister and actress Mandy Moore.
“People must have looked at me and wanted to fall apart,” he said. “I asked a doctor for a mirror to see myself. The bandages were like a ski mask. But I thought I’d be OK. I didn’t think, `I’ll be disfigured for life.’”
Recovering from the final of three surgeries Goldstein, 35, has undergone procedures to treat his second- and third-degree burns. He says he’s coping one day at a time.
“My emotions go back and forth. I can’t believe I made it. I’m just grateful.”
He and Barker were the only survivors of the Sept. 19 crash at the main airport in Columbia. Two pilots and two other passengers were killed, including Barker’s assistant Chris Baker. As for the crash victims,
“All I wanted to know was what I already knew: They died on impact. I wanted to know they didn’t feel any pain. That was almost a relief,” he said.
Once again Shanna and Travis are talking about each other on MySpace. Shanna Moakler posted this Friend Status on MySpace and it makes me wonder if this her response to what Travis Barker blogged on MySpace?

Travis Barker expressed his “deepest thanks” to fans via his MySpace page for their support during his recovery from a deadly plane crash in September. Barker and fellow passenger DJ AM were the only survivors of a fiery Sept. 19 plane crash in South Carolina that killed four. Barker has been hospitalized since the accident, recovering from burns on his torso and lower body. He recently took a bus back to LA from South Carolina to continue his recovery. The Blink-182 drummer also posted photos of himself in his hospital bed and and paid tribute to his assistant Chris Baker, 29, and his security guard Charles Still, 29, whose lives were claimed by the Sept. 19 crash. Barker said he is in high spirits after seeing DJ AM. Barker writes:
“I got to see AM the other day. Seeing him after he was discharged was an inspiration. I saw just how awesome the doctors’ work here is, and got to see how well he is doing. I am so happy to see him doing well, and we are both so lucky and grateful that we are alive today.”
But the 32-year-old also took a brief time-out to jab at ex-wife Shanna Moakler, who reportedly has been by his side since the ordeal. Moakler was photographed in tears - and oddly wearing a ring on that special finger - outside Barker’s Augusta, Ga., hospital on Sept. 22. The on-again, off-again couple briefly reconciled in 2007 after a lengthy separation, but finally divorced in February 2008. Barker wrote:
“Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, I’ve been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and an Georgia.”
Barker, later deleted the diss from his MySpace Celebrity blog, but left the message up on his actual MySpace page. Barker, who sustained second- and third-degree burns from the crash, also posted an update on his own condition:
Barker writes, “Like the doctors said from the beginning, its [sic] been a slow recovery process. I am coming up on the 7th of my surgeries Monday.” He also says he’s now able to move his fingers on his right hand.

I want to give my deepest thanks to everyone who has helped deal with the current situation. First and foremost, Chris and Che were my friends. I would give up anything to have them here with us today, healthy and happy. To call them my employees does them such a disservice, as they were so much more than that. Chris was my best friend before anything else, and I can never put into words how much he will be missed. Che was an amazing person as well, and I was honored to have him in my life.
I am simply amazed and will be forever grateful for all the support everyone has shown to Chris and Che's families. Its a testament to how many lives they touched in a positive way.
Hospital Life!
Like the doctors said from the beginning, its been a slow recovery process. I am coming up on the 7th of my surgeries Monday. Today I finally was able to move all my fingers on my right hand. Every step seems huge at this point, and Im doing EVERYTHING I can possibly do to get back to my kids. Yes, I did start eating meat again, but if it helps me to be home holding my little humans sooner, then its all worth it. The staff here are all bomb! Dr. Grossman and his staff are the best. The BOSS Barbara, and nurses Betty, Jay , Emily, Julio, Lolita, and Stephanie (with the best scrubs ever!) are all taking the best care of me.
My good friend Armen has been kind enough to save me from the hospital food, and brings Jamba Juice, Wahoos, or whatever else I need to keep my calories and protein levels high.Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, Ive been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and in Georgia. Bet cha’ didn’t know that tattoo-boy Travis Barker was a strict vegetarian did ya? Maybe you did, but did you know that after 25 years of being veggie, he’s been forced to turn to red meat to help his body heal faster?
Doctors told Trav that he could speed his body’s recovery process if his protein came from animal sources. Sounds a bit fishy to me, but I suppose when you are covered in burns you’d eat cement at every meal if you thought it would get you better faster.
He said: ‘I need protein from food rather than just protein supplements. I changed my diet. I would do anything I possibly could if they said like, ‘There’s a possibility you might heal faster if you do eat meat or just change your eating habits.’ So I did. I don’t regret it at all, I feel so much better.’
His first priority being to get well enough to get out of the treatment center and hold his kids, he’s doing what the doctor ordered. Let’s just hope PETA keeps their vegan noses out of his decision.

Travis Barker is back on the meat team
A vegetarian for 25 years, Travis Barker has started eating meat again to help speed along his recovery from that inconvenient plane crash he was in last month. He told Us Weekly:
“I need protein from food rather than just protein supplements. I changed my diet. I would do anything I possibly could if they said like, ‘There’s a possibility you might heal faster if you do eat meat or just change your eating habits.’ So I did. I don’t regret it at all, I feel so much better.” (Source)
Uh oh, PETA is gonna be pissed. It’s a good thing their diet of tofu and lettuce doesn’t give them enough strength to picket Barker’s hospital.

US Weekly got the first interview with Travis Barker since that horrible plane accident almost two weeks ago that left 4 people dead and DJ AM and him suffering second and third degree burns.
"I hate planes," the ex-Blink 182 drummer, 32, tells Us exclusively. "My biggest fear ever is to be involved in a plane crash, so when that happened … well, I'm just thankful to be alive! I'm just grateful to be here at all."
How are you doing?
"I am doing the best I can possibly be. I'm so anxious to get out of here. …I've just been in surgery after surgery. I have third degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands. One of my hands was second degree burns and one was third degree burns. I'm trying to have a quick recovery and play the drums again and be able to hold my kids again. [Barker has two children, Landon, 5, and Alabama, 2, with Moakler.] I'm going nuts not being able to see them and spend time with them!"How much longer will you be in the hospital?
"Oh gosh, I hope not much longer. I sit here and I read books and watch TV. I think if this surgery went well, I'll be here for at most two weeks."
My friend reminded me, when Travis broke his arm a few years he reworked the drum set so he could play. So if any one can come back from this and bang on the drums, it is Travis Barker!

Now on to DJ AM, People is reporting that his friends are putting on a benefit concert in his honor with proceeds going to the memorial funds established crash victims.

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, says he’s glad to be alive after suffering severe burns in the fiery plane crash last month that killed four people. He tells US Weekly a plane crash was his personal hell:
“I hate planes. My biggest fear ever is to be involved in a plane crash, so when that happened … well, I’m just thankful to be alive! I’m just grateful to be here at all.”
Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM were the only survivors of the crash just before midnight Sept. 19 at the main airport in Columbia, S.C. Two pilots and two other passengers were killed, including Barker’s assistant Chris Baker. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board have said a cockpit voice recorder revealed that crew members thought a tire blew out and tried to abort the takeoff.
Barker was released from a Georgia hospital last week and is now being treated at a burn center in Los Angeles. He was not about to get on another plane, so he arranged to travel cross-country by bus with his father and ex-wife Shanna Moakler to keep him company. He looks forward to returning to his life:
“I’m trying to have a quick recovery and play the drums again and be able to hold my kids again,” said Barker, who has two children, Landon, 5, and Alabama, 2, with Moakler.
If all goes well, Barker expects to leave the hospital within two weeks.

The Grossman Burn Center, where Travis Barker is being treated for burns sustained in a tragic plane crash says it doesn't believe negative statements in a magazine report that imply the musician is unhappy with his care are accurate.
But in an email to X17online, a spokesman for the hospital says they cannot comment further because of laws regarding patient privacy. The spokesperson suggested the magazine "double check it's sources."
Life&Style Magazine quotes a friend of Travis' ex-wife Shanna Moakler as saying Barker, "...felt he had to wait too long for pain medications after his surgery last week and that he hasn't been receiving quick enough access to doctors. They're looking into moving him elsewhere, but I'm not sure they will. It's a very emotional time."
Attempts to reach Barker for comment were unsuccessful.
In the days following his tragic plane crash, Travis Barker has tried to stay upbeat, with plenty of love and encouragement from his family, friends, and ex-wife Shanna Moakler.
And it seems that his positive attitude has gone a long way in his recovery from the burns and injuries he has sustained. In fact, he’s already out of the hospital!
Travis Barker is getting the hell out of Georgia and heading back to L.A. After nine days in a burn unit of a hospital in Augusta, GA doctors say he left in good condition and good spirits.
Of course we are all glad to hear that he and DJ AM are going to be ok. But what I really help but wonder is if this near death experience will drive Travis back into the crazy stripper looking arms of Shanna Moakler?

DJ AM was released from the hospital this past Friday and has already returned to LA. It’s great news that both musicians are now well enough to go home, but they likely both have a long road ahead with skin graft surgeries to repair the damage done.
Sounds like both Travis Barker and DJ AM are making good progress, after last Friday’s devastating plane crash that killed four people and critically injured the two musicians. Music producer and Travis Barker’s partner in the So So Def clothing line Jermaine Dupri says his friend Barker is doing well.
Dupri, who visited the former Blink 182 drummer in the hospital last Sunday and said, “He’s doing good, he’s gonna be alright. He’s just got a lot of healing to do.”
Dupri, who was celebrating his 36th birthday at Chicago’s The Underground Nightclub after attending a concert by girlfriend Janet Jackson, said that Barker is also doing well emotionally.
“He’s supposed to send a message out to everybody in a couple of days to let everybody know that he’s feeling better,” he said. “He’s definitely feeling the love from everyone.”
Barker’s improved health and spirits has prompted him to outfit his hospital room with his favorite gadgets: “He’s just now getting everything in the hospital set up for him – iPods, computers, everything that he needs,” says Dupri, who estimates Barker will be in the hospital another two weeks. “You got to make sure he is comfortable.”
And DJ AM real name Adam Goldstein, seems also to be doing better and has been released from the hospital in Georgia and is reportedly on his way back to Los Angeles by bus.
His rep released the following statement, “Adam Goldstein has been released from Doctors Hospital. While he is deeply saddened by the events, he is thankful for all of the love and support he has been receiving from fans and friends world wide. We ask that you continue to respect his privacy as he rests and heals and mourns the loss of his friends”.
Adam is said to have been burned quite seriously around his face and head and will probably be in and out of the hospital for skin grafts for some time to come.

One of the first responders on the scene when the plane carrying Travis Barker and DJ AM says it was “divine intervention” that the two of them survived
Lt. Jason Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department says it was obvious that Travis was in a lot of pain, but he was also concerned about the other on board the plane. “He just kept saying, ‘That’s my friends in the plane, that’s my friends in the plane,’” Shumpert said.
Of course by now you know that the pilot and co-pilot died of smoke inhalation and burns and Chris Barker and Charles Still died from impact injuries.
“It was divine intervention that they got out,” he said. “They should be commended for being able to get out and keep their heads together.” They said the plane went down,” Shumpert recalled. “They didn’t say how or if they knew. Once it went down, they were able to slide down the wing of the plane, and they jumped on each other to put fires on each other out and rolled around on the ground.”
Quick reactions and thinking seems to have saved DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) and Travis Barker’s lives. A policeman on the scene of the tragic accident that seriously burned the two musicians revealed how the duo were able to escape the flame-engulfed plane, “[Travis and Adam] told me that they slid down the wing on the right side of the plane.”
The officer also revealed that the two were on fire and that they, “tackled each other and put each other out.”
He went on to say that when he came on to the site Travis and AM were pacing and in shock.
And, contrary to other reports, the official said the pair weren’t totally striped down.
Though shirtless, Travis had on shorts, a sock and his black hat on. AM still had his boxer shorts on.
The pair have begun the long pain staking procedures to treat their 2nd and 3rd degree burns. DJ AM was said to be in a drug induced coma (not confirmed) to spare him from the severe pain and begin the series of skin transplants he will need.
As a follow up to the Gossip Girls story on Shanna Moakler’s emotional trip to visit Travis Barker (who suffered massive burns in a plane crash over the weekend), it sounds like she’s in it for the long haul.
A source close to the situation revealed to press that the drummer’s ex-wife is committed to seeing him make it through a full recovery. “She’s been at his bedside ever since she got there. She loves him and she’s not going to leave him.”
It has been an emotional past few days for Shanna Moakler, who was seen crying as she left an Augusta, Georgia hospital after being by Travis Barker’s side.
As previously reported by Gossip Girls, Travis is suffering from critical burns he sustained in a plane crash that ended up claiming four lives.
There are more details on the Learjet that took off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport with six aboard including the only survivors, Travis Barker and DJ AM, late Friday night before careening off the runway, and smashing through a fence and crashing on a nearby road.
Federal Aviation officials said Sunday that the crew thought a tire blew and tried to abort the takeoff but couldn’t stop the plane. A South Carolina coroner now says the pilot and co-pilot killed in the Learjet crash died from smoke inhalation and burns, and two passengers Chris Baker and Charles Still, were killed by impact related injuries.
The medical director of the burn hospital where former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM are being treated says both men are expected to make full recoveries. They both received second- and third-degree burns and doctors say recovery from such burns can take as long as a year, but notes the men had no other injuries. TMZ.com reports Barker was burned from the waist down and his ex wife, Shanna Moakler has rushed to be with him at the Georgia hospital.
DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, was apparently more severely injured, but he was conscious long enough inside the ambulance (at the crash scene) to call his mother, a source told Usmagazine. During the emotional phone call, Adam let her know he was injured and going to the hospital. Adam has reportedly (tough to verify) been put into a medically-induced coma. “More than 50 percent of his body is burned and the worst is on his face,” a pal told E! online. It really sounds like Adam is in for a long and traumatic ordeal should he survive his injuries. Doctors say they expect him to live but deadly infections are always a big issue with severe burn cases like this. Ex girlfriend Mandy Moore has jetted to Adam’s bedside as he continues treatment. Moore and Goldstein began dating in early 2007 (not long after his break-up with ex-fiancée Nicole Richie).
Both Travis Barker and DJ were critically injured in a leer jet accident last night in Columbia, SC. The two survived the crash while 4 including Travis’ assistant, Chris Baker who was featured on his show did not. Reports are saying DJ AM suffered burns on his face and 50% of body and Travis suffered burns below his waist, both are listed in critical but stable condition.

In what comes as a saddening surprise, Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM) were onboard a Learjet that crashed while taking off from a South Carolina airport late last night (September 19).

With that face, we’re always surprised that Nigel is used to being behind the camera and not in front of it. Nigel is a judge and photographer on the reality TV series America’s Next Top Model with supermodel Tyra Banks. He also recently announced that he and his wife are expecting another baby. Im gonna TRY to make this short and sweet….
I am VERY far from where I would like to be in my career, I'm from a small town in the smallest state, I've started working as a teen model and lived in every city and beat the streets in every town, taking every audition, I modeled, I did pageants I took every meeting I could, I've been rejected 1000 times and I never gave up…I took every one liner, bit part I could, I didn't have my daddy's name or some hollywood connection, I worked my ass off, and no I may not be in the A list, but I have drive and conviction and ambition… and I wont ever stop trying to be involved in projects that I enjoy and get the opportunity's that allow me to show what it is I strive to do…
I grew up watching musicals with talents such as Ann Miller and Fred Astaire and that is the sole reason I moved across the country to this city with the dream to be a part of this industry.with that said,
never in all my life, if I thought for one second with all that I have done, (and I am actually proud of what I have accomplished), did I ever think having a confrontation with a whore in a club or the complete heartbreaking ups and downs of my marriage which sadly have to play out in front on the public, would take center stage from what it is I actually LOVE doing…

Tune into the season finale of Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants on The CW this Wednesday at 8p. I am so sad it is the season finale because I have really grown to love this show.
