She says that she doesn’t find it attractive when people get work done and that their motivation is “self obsession” and “fear.”
The 38-year-old actress - who recently gave birth to her third child with husband Andrew Upton - hates the idea of plastic surgery, and is happy to have some lines on her face.
She said: “For me, I think what will be sexy in 50 years time will be wrinkles. Look at a man or a woman in their 50s and all I see when they have brushed their years away with surgery is self-obsession and fear. That’s not particularly attractive.”

I found this same quote from Cate in an article from September, 2007 published in Australia’s Courier Mail so she said it at least 8 or 9 months ago. Interestingly enough, Cate also is a spokesperson for skincare line SK-II. She says she uses one of their products, a moisturizing skin mask made of cotton, every morning while she makes her sons’ breakfast. Interesting that Cate calls plastic surgery “self obsession and fear” but that she admits using a mask that costs at least $15 per application

It seems that Cate Blanchett is the disciplinarian in her household, as the mother of three was spotted dining out with her two sons Dashiell John and Roman Robert, along with family and friends, and she was sure to not let them misbehave.
According to an eyewitness, “As the two boys ran around the outside of the restaurant Cate kept a watchful eye while maintaining that cool mommy vibe.”

She is on a whirlwind tour supporting the Indiana Jones movie. She plays the flick's villain, a psychic Russian agent named Spalko. After being present for the Cannes premiere, she jetted over to Sydney, Australia for THEIR premiere. Damn! All that traveling is making me tired, and I'm a fat bitch on a couch!
"I feel 65 at the moment," Blanchett laughed when asked about all the traveling she's doing lately.
Blanchett reportedly plans to settle down after this and devote her efforts to the Sydney Theatre Company. Cate is co-director, along with husband Andrew Upton. Cate has been doing films for ten years straight and plans to use her time with the theatre company as a break.
She might also be doing press in the winter for her next flick, The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons, though. The David Fincher flick starring Cate, Tilda Swinton and Brad Pitt drops at Christmas time and people are already talking about its Oscar worthiness. I think a film starring both Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton might cause me to grip my pearls and call for smelling salts.
Jesus Christ, can she help with my gout and straighten out the Tower of Pisa while she's at it? Bitch is Superman! You know she probably sold her soul to the devil for her looks, talent, dress sense and unlimited energy. This all feels very Faustian to me.

With a film as eagerly anticipated and widely popular as the new Indiana Jones flick, the film’s stars had to split up to handle all the publicity duties.
“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” premiered in Australia earlier today. And star Cate Blanchett was on hand in Sydney to schmooze with fans and handle things on the Southern Hemisphere’s end.
The red carpet premiere of Indiana Jones in Cannes featured the grand return of Harrison Ford. Ford, who has played the same character over a span of 26 years, has aged well. The 65 year-old star looked in fine form as he made his way up the red carpet accompanied by partner Calista Flockhart. The film was welcomed with a three and a half minute standing ovation by the often critical Cannes Film Festival audience.
Australian actress Cate Blanchett, who stars as Harrison’s adversary in Crystal Skull cut a glamorous figure in a smoky grey gown. The actress appeared super svelte, despite giving birth to her third child, just weeks ago.

Cate Blanchett just popped out a kid four weeks ago and hit up the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony looking fantastic. I like her. She doesn't bore with tales of counting calories and ridiculous exercise routines. I always find those so damn tedious. The Australian actress once told Glamour magazine (and I think it bears repeating), "Death is not going to be any easier just because your face can't move."
Awesome. That's almost cool enough to warrant being a tattoo, except that I don't have that level of commitment in me.

Ignatius Martin Upton is the third child for the actress and playwright Andrew Upton.
Ignatius weighed in at 7 lbs 15 ounces. I don’t know about that name. I guess it has kind of an intellectual ring to it? But I bet people will call him Iggy.
He is the third boy for the couple, who already have two sons - Dashiell, 6, and Roman, 3.
Blanchett and Upton live in the beautiful city of Sydney and share co-artistic director responsibilities at the Sydney Theatre Company.

And on another note completely, I had no idea she was pregnant. And not only is she pregnant, but she appears to be very pregnant. I love that dress and the shoes--the colors, the style, it looks so amazing to me that I wish I were pregnant, so that I could fill it out properly.

The Babel actress, who is currently pregnant with her third child, received the Modern Master Tribute last night during the Santa Barbara Film Festival held at the Arlington Theater.
Showing off her slowly-growing baby bump, Cate Blanchett went to work on Thursday as a presenter at the L’Oreal Paris 2007 AFI Awards Dinner.
Held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, the Australian Film Institute handed out 21 awards to their top nominees in television and film.
Dang, Cate Blanchett is looking like she's got perfect skin, looking all blonde and glowy at the Australian Film Institute's awards in Melbourne. I suddenly feel compelled to apply 50 SPF sunscreen to my entire body. There were, of course, numerous Aussie celebrities on the red carpet for the event that I don't recognize, but of the ones I do recognize, there's Cate, of course, and Eric Bana from "Munich" and "Troy." And for the American "celebrity" contingency, I'm guessing that since she happened to already be in Australia getting her party on, Tara Reid managed to crash the red carpet at the awards just long enough to get photographed before anyone realized that she really, probably shouldn't be there.

The “Babel” actress and her husband were in Sydney, Australia today for an advanced screening of her new film, “I’m Not There,” a biopic on Bob Dylan. And through the Sydney Theatre Group, they’re starting a new ticketing system that would allow theatergoers to purchase twenty tickets for $20.
She just announced that she’s four-months pregnant, but Cate Blanchett continued to get a full day’s work in as she most recently ventured to Japan.
The Babel actress was in Tokyo for a ceremony to open the new Giorgio Armani flagship store on Tuesday (November 6).

Yesterday at the Rome Film Festival, “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” captivated audiences in it’s out-of-competition viewing. And Blanchett told press that taking the gig was a no-brainer.
