He’s the reigning American Idol, and yesterday David Cook was in Times Square, New York City to promote the release of his debut album.
The “Light On” singer/songwriter teamed up with the Times Square Virgin Megastore and Hard Rock Café New York for a special fan event, including a live performance.
Idol heartthrob David Cook attended the after party for the 2008 Glamour Awards in New York City, New York looking fab last night. The party was held at the Essex House and loads of big celebs were there in attendance.
We all remember the super-messy, terribly embarrassing divorce ordeal endured by Christie Brinkley earlier this year. And it seems there’s yet another chapter to the story.
According to a Suffolk County official, the “Uptown Girl” babe filed a request for a temporary restraining order and a motion for post-judgment relief against her ex-husband Peter Cook.
Dane Cook sure has a funny version of reality. It seems like most celebs think the world operates in a way that is uniquely focused on them. To be fair, we all do this a bit, but celebrities often have this notion reinforced. Cook is no exception. He was evicted from his apartment by a judge because he failed to clean up after his constantly pooping dog. The other tenants didn’t appreciate it, so they took action. And not surprisingly, the court sided with Cook.
However the comedian is fighting back – and using humor as his defense. Probably because that’s the only one he’s got. He claims humorous spirits haunt his apartment - not in the literal way, but in the inspiring way. And he’ll lose his joke mojo if he moves.
After a judge ruled to evict Cook from his Hollywood apartment last month because nobody picked up after the comic’s crap-happy dog, Dane has decided to fight the decision with one of the most bizarre legal arguments we’ve ever heard –- that Belushi and Martin’s supernatural leftovers have a serious affect on his career.
Cook claims he only rented the apartment in the first place because his heroes, Belushi and Martin, used to live in the same complex back in the day, and according to the court docs filed in L.A. County Superior Court, he would suffer serious “mental and emotional” damage — and his career would crumble — if he was forced to leave. In the docs, Cook claims, “I know that the presence of those that have lived there before me affects me deeply and provides me with inspiration.”
Cook went on to say, “In the same way that writers can get writer’s block, comedians can really easily run out of ideas and ’stories’; I am extremely frightened that this will happen to me if I am forced to move out of my apartment. I’ve seen it happen to other comics, that something interferes with their connection to their creative muse, and it’s destroyed careers.”
In the three pages of desperate begging and pleading for the judge to hear his appeal, Cook also adds that he will cut a $40,000 check to the owner of the apartment ASAP to cover all of the suffering that his dookie-droppin’ doggie has caused, if he is allowed to stay.
No word if Cook channeled Belushi to pen this appeal -– but it did smell suspiciously like a bottle of Jack Daniels.

I appreciate artistic temperaments and creative are fickle forces, and everyone has their own way of finding inspiration. But I swear to God this better be a joke, and just some lame last-ditch effort to stay in his pad. Honestly, I don’t think it is. Either Cook really believes this stuff or is pretending to believe it. Considering all the bullshit the judge didn’t buy from him before, I can’t imagine he’d go for anything now.
On the other hand, I can’t figure out why it’s so important he stay in this particular apartment, and why Cook would fight so hard instead of just move. I’m not going to say he’s a comedic genius or anything close to it, but maybe he does believe there’s something about that place. Maybe he just associates it with a productive time in his life and that subconsciously helps him out. Either way, I think a U-Haul is in order.

As previously reported by the Gossip Girls, an agreement was reached this morning as to the divorce settlement between Christie Brinkley and ex-husband Peter Cook. And the beautiful blonde supermodel couldn’t be happier with the results.
Brinkley called the settlement “a very bittersweet moment,” adding, “It really is the death of a marriage, but it’s also I think a new start for all of us and I’m very pleased with the results today.”
After a long night of intense negotiation, Christie Brinkley and her adulterous ex-hubby Peter Cook have finally reached an agreement in regards to the custody of their two children.
The nasty divorce trial between the parted pair has been going on for a little over a week now, and a settlement was finally reached at 6:15 am on Thursday (July 10).
It’s a scenario no one looks forward to. And as she arrived at the first day of her divorce trial this morning (July 2), Christie Brinkley appeared devastated.
The 54-year-old supermodel sported a white button-up shirt and a belted khaki skirt as she exited her car clinging to the arm of her lawyer and looking to be on the verge of tears.

She has been spending time in New York City with Ryan Adams as of late, but yesterday Mandy Moore looked to be getting back to her normal routine on the West Coast.
Given the beautiful weather in Beverly Hills, the “All Good Things” songstress saw fit to get a little shopping in, following a visit to a friend’s house in Sherman Oaks.
It was an especially star-studded day today over at the Today Show, as Sarah Jessica Parker, David Cook, and David Archuleta all stopped by.
With her new film “Sex and the City: The Movie” hitting theaters all over America tomorrow night, Sarah Jessica Parker was all about drumming up some publicity.
American Idol winner David Cook will reportedly set a U.S. record when 11 of his songs debut on Billboard's Hot 100 today. This feat will top the previous record set by Miley Cyrus in 2006. Her record was six songs. These two should totally start a new series of dance war videos on YouTube. Except, instead of dancing, Cook will nod at the camera like it's lucky to be filming him.
However, Cookie will not hit #1. The orignal song he sang on Idol, "The Time Of My Life", will debut in the #3 position. But it will take the winning position on the Hot Digital Songs list.
Former bartender Cook's record-setting debut is the biggest song incursion since Nielsen began tracking the charts in 1991. The Beatles still hold the record for the most songs on the chart in any one week. They had 14 hits on the Hot 100 in 1964. But Gookie Cookie now has the record for debuts in one week. Somewhere, someone who gives a shit about Billboard chart placement is printing out this article and pasting it to a wall. He lives in a basement with stacks of Billboard magazines and Rolling Stones around him like a topiary maze. And his cat was lost in them several months ago and he still hasn't bothered to look for her. His name? Jeff Archuleta.

He’s the latest in a long line of American Idol season winners, and David Cook seems to be taking his massive victory in stride. Last night after he was announced as the Season 7 champ, the Blue Springs, Mo bartender talked to press about his experience thus far.
Maintaining an air of humility, David said that he’s up for whatever his Idol status brings his way. “I actually walked into this with no expectations and I’m walking out of it with no expectations. This show is a springboard, but it’s still a crapshoot. I could easily walk out of this arena and be just a regular Joe tomorrow. I hope that’s not the case. It’s kind of up to everybody else.”
It was an awww moment.
After a grueling season that saw a ton of talent and heart from all of the contestants, David Cook has been crowned the newest American Idol.
During last night’s season finale (which included performances from the likes of Carrie Underwood and the Jonas Brothers) at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the 25-year-old Blue Springs, Mo bartender was revealed as the victor, having garnered 12 million more votes than his competitor, 17-year-old David Archuleta (there were over 97 million votes cast).

She may have sold her horse to raise enough money to travel to the American Idol auditions, but Kristy Lee Cook came up short on last night’s AI elimination round.
Not even guest mentor Mariah Carey’s kind words- she said Cook’s rendition of “Forever” gave her chills- were enough to keep the 24-year-old Selma, Oregon hopeful in the running.

Kristy allegedly sold her horse to get to the Idol auditions. Why didn't she just ride it there? Dumb bitch.
