He’s the reigning American Idol, and yesterday David Cook was in Times Square, New York City to promote the release of his debut album.
The “Light On” singer/songwriter teamed up with the Times Square Virgin Megastore and Hard Rock Café New York for a special fan event, including a live performance.
Idol heartthrob David Cook attended the after party for the 2008 Glamour Awards in New York City, New York looking fab last night. The party was held at the Essex House and loads of big celebs were there in attendance.

She has been spending time in New York City with Ryan Adams as of late, but yesterday Mandy Moore looked to be getting back to her normal routine on the West Coast.
Given the beautiful weather in Beverly Hills, the “All Good Things” songstress saw fit to get a little shopping in, following a visit to a friend’s house in Sherman Oaks.
It was an especially star-studded day today over at the Today Show, as Sarah Jessica Parker, David Cook, and David Archuleta all stopped by.
With her new film “Sex and the City: The Movie” hitting theaters all over America tomorrow night, Sarah Jessica Parker was all about drumming up some publicity.
American Idol winner David Cook will reportedly set a U.S. record when 11 of his songs debut on Billboard's Hot 100 today. This feat will top the previous record set by Miley Cyrus in 2006. Her record was six songs. These two should totally start a new series of dance war videos on YouTube. Except, instead of dancing, Cook will nod at the camera like it's lucky to be filming him.
However, Cookie will not hit #1. The orignal song he sang on Idol, "The Time Of My Life", will debut in the #3 position. But it will take the winning position on the Hot Digital Songs list.
Former bartender Cook's record-setting debut is the biggest song incursion since Nielsen began tracking the charts in 1991. The Beatles still hold the record for the most songs on the chart in any one week. They had 14 hits on the Hot 100 in 1964. But Gookie Cookie now has the record for debuts in one week. Somewhere, someone who gives a shit about Billboard chart placement is printing out this article and pasting it to a wall. He lives in a basement with stacks of Billboard magazines and Rolling Stones around him like a topiary maze. And his cat was lost in them several months ago and he still hasn't bothered to look for her. His name? Jeff Archuleta.

He’s the latest in a long line of American Idol season winners, and David Cook seems to be taking his massive victory in stride. Last night after he was announced as the Season 7 champ, the Blue Springs, Mo bartender talked to press about his experience thus far.
Maintaining an air of humility, David said that he’s up for whatever his Idol status brings his way. “I actually walked into this with no expectations and I’m walking out of it with no expectations. This show is a springboard, but it’s still a crapshoot. I could easily walk out of this arena and be just a regular Joe tomorrow. I hope that’s not the case. It’s kind of up to everybody else.”
It was an awww moment.
After a grueling season that saw a ton of talent and heart from all of the contestants, David Cook has been crowned the newest American Idol.
During last night’s season finale (which included performances from the likes of Carrie Underwood and the Jonas Brothers) at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the 25-year-old Blue Springs, Mo bartender was revealed as the victor, having garnered 12 million more votes than his competitor, 17-year-old David Archuleta (there were over 97 million votes cast).
