She’s been all over Western Europe promoting her latest album “Breakout,” and yesterday Miley Cyrus was spotted on her way back to the States.

Irksome and manipulative ABC show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has (maybe) been hoodwinked! It seems the Marrero family, for whom the show built a house last summer, has put the property on the market for a cool $499,999. It's probably not for tax reasons! Maybe it's because a too-big, too-expensive house was built for a family that doesn't need it. The Marreros are a family of six and certainly could have used more space than they had before the trucks rolled up, full of Sears products, but few people need the excess of the Extreme Makeover houses more than they need, well, money. The show, hosted by the manic and unhinged Ty Pennington, has long been criticized for being a tacky, exploitative infomercial for brand tie-ins and corporate sponsorships. So it's kind of nice to see someone say: "You're gonna use me? Well I'll use you right back!"

It’s the holiday season, and this year more than any other, seasonal specials are ready to take over all of the major networks.
One of those specials happens to be the “9th Annual A Home for the Holidays,” which taped musical talents such as Fergie performing at the REN-MAR studios in LA last night.
Until now, the New York Times matched employee contributions to charity at $1.50 for every staff dollar donated. In January, the company will reduce that rate, and only match non-profit donations dollar-for-dollar--up to $3000 a year per person, according to a company-wide email from publisher Arthur Sulzberger sent this morning.
Dear Colleagues,Our Matching Gifts program will change starting in January. While the Company will continue to support contributions to eligible organizations by our directors, employees and retirees, it will match these donations dollar for dollar. This marks a change from our Company's previous practice of matching gifts at $1.50 for every dollar donated. The change allows the Company to continue to provide a valuable program through which we can support organizations that matter to us, up to a total of $3,000 a year per person. The new policy is in line with that of most companies in our business.

How does it feel for former Timesman Charlie LeDuff to be unemployed and raising his kid—does he miss the "late-night cocktails, accepting prizes, speaking at prestigious universities"? Well!
I find myself staring into the rearview mirror of my career. There was that time in Iraq when I wandered into a city hall that had been taken over by a radical cleric and his followers. It was Good Friday, and in the spirit of brotherhood we prayed together. By the end, the holy man's supporters were chanting with thumbs raised high: "Charlie good! Charlie good!" In some way I was an ambassador--not of the U.S. government, certainly, but at least to the notion that Americans are a decent, brotherly lot.Also he was recently barred from a "mommy and me" yoga class at noon.
