If you missed Rosie O'Donnell's variety show this Wednesday, then you're shit out of luck!
NBC "tested" the show out to see if the audience was interested in Ro and the format, and America responded with a resounding NO.
Rosie Live debuted to disastrous ratings - only 5 million people watched! - and even worse reviews.
O'Donnell herself just posted the following on her blog:
"there will b no more
no ratings
bad reviews
yet still - a thrill 4 me"
Barbara Walters must be laughing her face off!
And Elizabitch Hasselbeck probably too.
And Star Jones.
And the Osbournes! Ozzie, Sharon, Kelly and Jack have their own reality show - on Fox - debuting next month.
All eyes are now on them!

Rosie O'Donnell's attempt to bring back the variety show failed - miserably!
Wednesday night's broadcast of Rosie Live was barely watched, delivering just 5 million viewers.
Ouch!
Plus, reviews for the show were horrible and sources tell us that the show wasn't exactly "live."
Oh, well. Nice try!
Hopefully the Osbournes will have better luck when their variety show debuts next month!

Barbara Walters scored another big interview!
Babs' chat with President-elect Barack Obama and First Lady-to-be Michelle Obama is scheduled to air at 10pm, Wednesday on ABC.
The interview covered a wide range of topics. From economic policy to chores the young Obama girls will be expected to perform while living in the White House, Babs left almost no stone unturned!
Something we found interesting is the President-elect's concern about living an isolated life as president. He doesn't want his access to information outside the bubble of the White House to be limited:
"One of the things that I'm going to have to work through is how to break through the isolation — the bubble that exists around the president. I'm in the process of negotiating with the Secret Service, with lawyers, with White House staff … to figure out how can I get information from outside of the 10 or 12 people who surround my office in the White House."
We know this to be true with a lot of families we know…and it's also the case with the Obamas…Momma rules the roost!
In a post-interview recap, Babs reported that both Barack and Michelle Obama agreed that it is Michelle who "gets the last word," with the president-elect philosophizing, "When Momma's happy, everybody is happy."

A new generation of kids are going to be able to learn and enjoy ‘The Electric Company’. The original Electric Company was on from 1971-77, and was a sort of hip older sibling to Sesame Street. Before he became a brilliant movie actor with an Oscar and dozens of films under his belt, Morgan Freeman was watched by a generation of children as the Easy Reader, Count Dracula, and hosts of other characters
Starting in January, a new version of the show will debut, to be shown on PBS Kids as part of their Raising Readers effort. The new version being developed by Sesame Workshop, won’t look much like the old one, but it will still serve the same purpose to entertain and teach children. Refitted for the age of hip-hop and informed by decades of further educational research on reading, the 2009 version of “The Electric Company” is a weekly, more danceable version of its former daily self. The new Electric Company will feature a group of four culturally-diverse teens—Lisa, Keith, Jessica, and Hector—who have powers to make and manipulate words in (educationally) cool ways. From a natural-foods diner, somewhere in New York City, they fight word crimes, particularly those of the mischevious (but not truly evil) Pranksters.
Each episode will tell a story featuring these characters, with animated and live-action
phonics lessons sprinkled in here and there, focusing on vocabulary. It will emphasize vocabulary from five “conceptual domains” (animals, the body, weather, ecosystems and the solar system) and tell a story in multiple acts. That’s something the original show didn’t really do, but that’s another sign of the times, since PBS Kids’ research has shown that kids today need a lot of help on that front. They have also, as with the original, made sure to make the show funny, because they know they’ll hold kids’ interest a whole lot better if they do. And there will, again, be someone in a gorilla suit making occasional appearances. (A cameo has been offered to Rita Moreno in photo with Morgan Freeman, a regular on the original “Electric Company,” remembered for her show-opening exultation, “Hey, you guyyyyys!”)
Not surprising for a show premiering in 2009, there will be an online piece as well, not to mention a magazine being published by Marvel Comics. To get things right the show has done and are continuing to do a ton of testing of the show’s concepts, to make sure they’re hitting the right notes. They have already begun conducting an outreach program to twenty low-income, low-literacy locations around the United States, to inform parents and kids about the program’s impending premiere. You can watch some short previews on the show’s website.
Ted Koppel, the impressively-haired former ABC newsman, is parting ways with the Discovery network six months before his contract is up. You may or may not have been aware that he's been working with them since 2006. Not the greatest tragedy in history, but it does point to the sad plight of the former big-time news anchor. There's nowhere to go but down from the heights of the network news desk. Where are all those famous former anchors today?

Rosie O'Donnell's publicist doesn't play around!
With the news of Rosie and Barbara Walters taking stabs at each other publicly, everyone is dying to ask RoRo about the rift.
So, during a scheduled interview with West Palm Beach's WPTV, Rosie was to be on via satellite Monday morning to talk about her new variety show.
O'Donnell's publicity team wanted the reporters to only ask about the variety show. However, when the reporters asked Rosie before the interview if they could talk about it, Rosie agreed.
The reporter told Rosie, "How about if I do it this way: How about we start off talking about the show and then we touch on that. I don't want to beat a dead horse."
Rosie agreed, but that didn't still well with her publicist. That's when suddenly the audio was cut off from the satellite feed. Then just a few seconds later Rosie image disappeared and was replaced by color bars.
Her PR team ended the interview before it even started!
How lame.

CNN should continue to invest in smart people, not idiots like D.L. Hughley!
Globe-trotting correspondent Christiane Amanpour is getting her own daily show on CNN International.
An edited version of her daily show will be shown on the weekends on CNN’s United States channel.
Miz Amanpour has said that this new gig won't tie her down.
"…I’m a field person at heart, in my bones and in my DNA. I think that’s massively important because you can’t just sit back and opine about the news; you have to actually go out there and cover it and report it,” says the CNN star.
Congrats!

The show 24 debuted their special made-for-tv movie event on Sunday, to a pleasant increase in ratings.
According to Nielsen estimates, the show's prequel special - 24: Redemption - averaged 12.1 million viewers, better than the spring finale at 10.3 million, but still not as good as the sixth season's debut in 2007 at 15.8 million.
Ratings began to fall alongside Bush's ratings, as the show prominently featured scenes of torture, which has become passe since the election campaign came and went.
As a result, critics called the new prequel a "kinder, gentler" version of the action series.
A reflection of the times, let's hope!
To really love Alan Ball's HBO show True Blood, you have to get past a few things. Namely, the wacky special effects, the terrible Louisiana accents, and the fact that in a month or so, most of you will groan whenever you hear the word 'vampire.' We already described the mediocre adapation of Twilight that won the weekend's box office, but in comparison, tonight's season finale of True Blood is Shakespeare. Really, Anna Paquin's Sookie Stackhouse is just so much more fun than Twilight's Bella Swan could ever be, and tonight, she'll try to solve the mystery of who's been killing folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana. All that and more, after the jump.
Aided by the attention given to its young adult sibling, Charlaine Harris' series of Sookie Stackhouse murder mysteries is miles beyond Twilight and goes on for many more books. I'm halfway through the third, and I can't recommend them highly enough if you want a more sophisticated campy vampire romance. Sookie's relationship with vampire Bill Compton (played by British actor Stephen Moyer) has been a resounding success in its television incarnation, reaching a ratings high last week and improving throughout its first season. That means the something for everybody show will probably be coming back after tonight's end to the 12 episode season. Here's the rest of the bare pickings from the Thanksgiving Week to come.
All times Eastern, watcher beware...
Tonight:
24: Redemption (8 pm on FOX): Jack Bauer is still fighting terrorism, this time in Africa. And there's a female president...just when Hillary was starting to get OK with accepting the Secretary of State post. Runs two hours.
Dexter (9 pm on Showtime): Last episode's ending was absolutely wild, and this show is always at its best when it brings rival killers together.
A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All (10 pm on Comedy Central): Richard had the great preview clip earlier this week. Airs again at 12 pm.
Entourage (10 pm on HBO): The crew is in New York City, and Gus Van Sant guest stars. That being the case, you can pretty much figure out which cast member will be emerging from the closet.
Monday:
How I Met Your Mother (8 pm on CBS): Ted has a nude encounter with Robin's date, as viewers count the days until the Ted and Robin wacky roommates storyline mercifully ends. Bring back Sven!
Heroes (9 pm on NBC): The preview suggests that most of the Heroes will be losing their abilities this week, which will get the show renamed People Without Powers until it's mercifully canceled.
Tuesday:
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (8 pm on ABC): The 1973 classic gets an update with a CGI Snoopy. No, I'm just kidding, Snoopy's junk is intact. This program also reruns on Thursday at the same time.
Fringe (9 pm on FOX): Butterflies have a weird magic property, and it turns out Massive Dynamic is the cause of the problem, probably.
The Mentalist (9 pm on CBS): Pairing new episodes on Tuesdays with reruns on Friday has been a recipe for ratings success, and this show is the class of the procedural genre.
Dancing With The Stars (9 pm on ABC): Warren Sapp, Lance Bass and Brooke Burke face off in what has to be the easiest Fuck, Marry, Kill of all time. Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus perform.
The Shield (10 pm on FX): The series finale for this incredible cop show.
Wednesday:
Rosie Live (8 pm on NBC): Was I crazy to think that the promo for this was funny? O'Donnell was a talented comedian, but that was a long time ago, and we're asking too much to think a hourlong variety show from her could be entertaining.
The 2008 World Magic Awards (8 pm on MyNetwork): Neil Patrick Harris hosts this retrospective on the year in magic. Hopefully they'll be able to answer the question of what the hell happened in the David Blaine Central Park stunt, because I still have no idea.
Thursday:
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (9 am on NBC): I'll be watching to see the scariest float in history in action.
The Incredibles (8 pm on NBC): Might as well make it a Thanksgiving tradition, since it costs too much to go to the theaters and see Bolt. Fox counter-programs with the dreadful Adam Sandler comedy Click about hating your family so much you want to fast-forward past them.
Friday:
Nothing but leftovers and regrets.

And you can be a part of it!

Last week we mentioned of the chaos that took place at a Hot Topic in San Francisco to meet Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson.
Due to the outrageous number of fans that showed up, about 3,000 teens had to be turned away from the autograph session. Among those turned away was 18 year-old Tiffany Kuhne.
But, Tiffany and some lucky fans got a big surprise at a recent taping of The Tyra Banks Show. The show flew Tiffany and two other teenagers involved in the autograph disappointment to New York for a Twilight-themed show.
Thought they didn't know that Pattinson and his co-star that no one really talks about, Taylor Lautner, would be there as a surprise.
And during the show the girls had a chance to win a "Twilight memorabilia" prize if they won a pie-eating contest.
Why pie-eating? We have no clue. But during the contest Pattinson even joked, "I still can't believe they are making you guys do this. Oh, geez!"
Tiffany won and it turns out the prize was the Volvo that Pattinson's vampire character drives in the movie! She said, "I feel absolutely amazing, ecstatic. I can't believe everything that just happened did. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life."
We agree. Meeting Pattinson and getting a free car sounds great to us. Especially considering that Tiffany works at a coffee shop and didn't even own a car!!!!!!!!
Life works in magical and mysterious ways, bbs.

The new 24 movie is getting good reviews!

It looks like there's a really good chance that an Arrested Development film WILL happen!
Mitch Hurwitz, who created and exec produced the Emmy-winning comedy series and legendary director Ron Howard have supposedly closed a deal with Fox to work on the big screen adaptation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hurwitz is on board to write the film as well as direct with help from Howard.
We're excited about the possibility of Jason Bateman and Michael Cera teaming up again!

So, as you know, Oprah Winfrey usually has her annual Favorite Things show before the holidays start.
That's when she lists her top gift items for the year and gives EVERYONE in the audience the top gifts.
You know, the episode where all the women go batshit crazy!!!!!!!!!
Last year, everyone got a $3,800 HDTV refrigerator. Nice.
But, this, year things are getting downgraded a bit. Partly due to the shitty economy.
Sources are confirming that this years annual gift list will feature items on the cheap.
Including "a special gift that won't cost a thing."
This year's episode will air this coming Wednesday.
The audience member's got gipped!

ABC is making BIG changes to their lineup!
According to reports, three ABC shows have been canceled - or are almost dead.
Dirty Sexy Money, Pushing Daisies, AND Eli Stone will all be ending this season. 99%.
At the moment, the network is not commenting, but multiple sources have confirmed the news.
However, Daisies creator Bryan Fuller says, "It's all true. I'm so very proud of this show and grateful for everyone's hard work in bringing it to life. We would love to continue telling this season's arcs in a comic book format, just to tie up all the loose strings — and believe me, there are plenty. That way we can tell a stand alone movie story that doesn't have all the baggage from the second season stories — and those bags are packed!"
Some changes will also be made mid-season to the current schedule.
For example, their spin-off show Private Practice will be moved to 10pm on Thursdays following Grey's Anatomy beginning mid-December. An obvious attempt to up the ratings.
And starting January, Scrubs will join the network's Tuesday lineup and Life on Mars will be moved to Wednesdays.
Thankfully they didn't get rid of Ugly Better and Desperate Housewives. Or should they have?

E!Online has confirmation that ABC has canceled Pushing Daisies, and according to their inside sources, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money also have been canned. Sources who work on Eli and DSM say they were informed today the shows would not continue. However reps for both shows have declined to comment.
Pushing Daisies, executive producer Bryan Fuller, tells that: “It’s very likely that Pushing Daisies will end after episode 13, which as you know, is a cliffhanger. But we are talking to DC Comics about doing comic books that will wrap up our storylines, and I already have a pitch for a [big-screen] movie ready to go.”
As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the ratings for last night’s “Oh, Oh, Oh, It’s Magic” episode were the series’ worst ever numbers in the key 18-49 demographic.
“To be honest,” Fuller tells me, “I’m really not feeling very boo hoo about it. I am so proud of the show. We put together 22 really good episodes, and there is a lot to be proud of. I’m sure I’ll be working with a lot of these people again, and I would love to do so.”
ABC intends to air the remaining Daisies episodes that have been shot, either in the current Wednesday at 8 p.m. timeslot or in another spot.
Shame to see all these shows go!

As part of the rock fam's new variety show The Osbournes: Loud and Dangerous, Ozzy, Shaaaaron!, Jack, and Kelly visited the family of Joe Osborne on their farm in Chillicothe, Ohio, this past week. You see, one of the show's gimmicks is that the Osbournes go around visiting families with the same last name (Spelling can be variable, however).
On Joe's farm, both families participated in some chores, including "mud running." We're not sure what that is, but we've got a feeling it is very mess. Then Joe made some lunch for everyone. The main course consisted of deer and squirrel meat. Apparently Sharon and Kelly balked, but Jack and Ozzy gave it a shot, of which Joe said, "It shows that they are really ordinary people."
Ordinary people who bite the heads off of bats!
Next on the agenda was another equally outrageous adventure. This time it was bull riding. Joe demonstrated his mad bull skills, wowing the Osbournes, and then Jack decided to give it a whirl. He apparently did okay before getting tossed.
Joe said that hosting the Osbournes "was really the experience of a lifetime."
The rest of the Osbournes variety show will feature musical performances, comedy sketches, and game show competitions.
The bull-riding episode is scheduled to air in February on Fox.
