She’s been busting her buns at the gym, and singing her heart out in the studio, and now it seems Britney Spears is working on a career jumpstart in Las Vegas.
As previously reported by the Gossip Girls, the “Piece of Me” singer was spotted earlier this week having dinner with George Maloof Jr., the owner of Palms Hotel and Casino in Sin City, and now we know why.
Back on the mainland, Audrina Patridge spent Saturday night (May 17) celebrating with a belated birthday bash in Las Vegas (she actually turned 23 on May 9th).
Held at LAX nightclub inside the Luxor Hotel, the Hills hottie spent the evening mingling and dancing with family and friends - being presented with a cake in honor of the special occasion.

First Morgans Hotel Group CEO Edward Scheetz tore out the Philippe Starcke lobby at the Royalton and made it the most boring place in the world. Then he quit to work out some personal stuff after a 23-year-old shoe saleswoman from Colorado was found dead in his Las Vegas apartment.
The very married Sheetz was sharing that residence with a Columbine High School drop-out named Michelle Hatchel. He came home one day to find her "different funny colors," according to a 911 tape that the Times says is all over the internet, but which we sure can't find. She had overdosed on cocaine and oxycodone.
[O]n her last night alive Hatchel sent text messages to friends, sometimes while hiding in a closet in Mr. Scheetz's apartment. In one message, sent at 10:36 p.m. on Aug. 28 to a friend named Miko, she wrote: "Things r really bad ed has been so mean 2 me." An hour later, in a message to a friend named Gina, she wrote, "I cant belive how much coke he does all the time all day long."Possibly even worse than all this? Scheetz' bizarro decision to appoint Lance Armstrong, a man best known for riding bicycles and Ashley Olsen, as a director of the company.

"Research" has shown that gay men spend about 30% more than straights when traveling. (Maybe they forget to mention that that 30% is actually spent in the underground drug market, on a bitch-goddess named Tina!) According to the WSJ, Las Vegas is "going all out" to attract gay travelers.
"Going all out," apparently consists of:
...lavish commitment ceremonies to same-sex couples (though same-sex marriage is illegal in Nevada), as well as special hotel and entertainment packages geared specifically toward gay and lesbian travelers. Some resorts have mandated sensitivity programs to teach employees how to make gay and lesbian travelers feel welcome.And!
...ad campaigns in gay media such as OutTraveler and Advocate magazines and cable channel Logo featuring images of same-sex couples holding hands at romantic dinners, and checking into hotel rooms together.So, the straights get "what happens here, stays here," while the gays get commitment ceremonies and "romantic dinners"? Wild!
Don't get too excited though. As "Gay Vegas" author Steve Friess warns us, bigotry still trumps the almighty dollar: "I just don't know that it's a good idea to be holding hands at the Nascar Cafe or Margaritaville."

This year’s SEMA Show is coming up, and headlining the event is Jay Leno’s own bio-fuel powered Corvette Z06. You may remember that Leno made a splash at the show last year, when launching the EcoJet. It think this man may single-handedly change the auto industry.
The Corvette is fueled solely by E85 and has a custom, 500-cubic-inch engine that generates approximately 600 horsepower. I’m sure those numbers get someone’s engine revving.
Other green cars at SEMA 2007 will include the FlexFuel Chevy Hot Rod (E85), a 700-hp biodiesel Hummer H2, a biofuel ready Ford F-250, and “other amazing ‘petrol-free’ street and off-road rides.”
I want more electric cars! When are we going to see more of those? SEMA is an industry show and is not open to the public. It’s all going down October 30 - November 2, 2007 in Las Vegas. We’ll all have to admire from afar for now…
